Beware: The common trike with straight axle including fat tire type cannot be used on uneven, slanted, or crowned roads. They will steer down the slope and you can't steer it back. Only good for LEVEL flat surfaces. No one will tell you that Fact.

@@1bluegreen2 I eventually got a refund upon sending back. Trikes with two wheels in the front seem to be able to go off road. They have steering links to adjust. They are not cargo bikes though.

I ride a Sun 24 inch (wheels) 7 speed trike. I can confirm that riding on an angle is downright scary (such as on a sidewalk). But when I ride in the street, I have good control. The road slant toward the curb isn't very severe and once you get used to it, it causes no real problem (at least for me). None of my triking routes has any real hills so I can't speak for how it handles hills. My rides average between 6 and 12 miles. Trikes aren't generally built for speed, not like a bicycle. It helps control when you slow down to corner. I wish it wasn't so heavy (56 lbs) but I totally love riding it.

I have been in the rehabilitation center for four years, and I feel like Rip Van Winkle when I see that gasoline costs over $5.00 per gallon. I am now retired so there is no way I could afford an automobile, insurance, repairs and oil and gasoline. I am planning on buying A home within walking distance of a major shopping area with Walmart, and other higher end stores. I have a large backpack that I will wear when I walk to the store in the winter. When the snow melts, I will ride my brand new Sch win Meridian with plenty of room in the rear basket for my groceries. I will buy a carrier for my cat so she can ride in the basket when I take her to the vet. On the rare occasions when I want to go backpacking, to the amusement park or to "The World of Fairies" festival, I will simply rent a car. I am looking forward to being free of the yoke of automobile ownership.

why do they not make a tricycle that can go on rough terain and with say 10 or 12 speed with a grany gear for climbing hillls?

Fair question, though I didn't want to take my trike in those places because of the dirt getting into the running gear and wearing it out. Oils are good, but to do those places, you very need to have a good place for regular cleaning and maintenance and somewhere to get rid of what you get off your running gear and bear in mind it is a little more difficult to clean the running gear on a trike than a bike.

The only sort of recumbent tr8ike shown is a one speed kids bike. Recumbent trikes are lower to the ground , far more stable ,far more comfortable and have gearing appropriate for it's use. Off road tires are available.

Yes, I am almost 70. I AM riding a gomier trike. I have converted to electric. This is the second gomier I have converted to electric. It is great. I have had 4 trikes now, the second one was a 28 inch bike converted to a trike. It was great, not electric, but low gear was still too high for ramps and very steep hills. It was good, 7 speed and fast in top gear but low gear was not really low enough. I was fit for a 65 year old, so it was good for me.

For me, the Sun is the best. I installed electric 750W front wheel 36v lithium batt. I am 85 yre old, no hill problems at all. Probably have about 4-5 hundred miles on the trike in the past five yrs.

I have no balance at all so five yrs ago I purchased a Trike at Walmart, got home and it was already to ride, as I pedaled out of my driveway the ball bearing all fell out before I reached the street. I took the Meridian back for a full refund. I then purchased a Sun 24, put about 200 mile on it in about four yrs, then this past year I installed a 750W--36v on the front wheel and a 35v Lithium Bat. It reaches 29 mph, but I only travel 8-10 mph. There is no hills that I cannot climb and the Sun is a vey dependable Trike with 24" wheels. I get about 32 mile per charge and it has never gone to the red light. Best Trike for a 85 yr old Man that is unable to walk.

What is the measurements across the back of a slsy folding adult 7speed tricycle, once folded,? My apt doorway clearance is 35 inches across. Will this bike get thru my doorway. 1 BIG correction - Number 4 (the second one shown) Barbella, IS TERRIBLE, known as the "amazon special" $330 this shows up as a bunch of different brand selling the same $330 trike. I can't count how many issues we have had with it. For 2 years, it only made it about 5 to 10 miles. All 3 tires and/or tubes popped (one bike shop said they had never seen tires with so few threads, and also that it was the cheapest thing they had ever seen). It came with bad assembly tools, and I know what I am doing. The pedals wore into the crank lever, requiring a new crank! The drive wheel loosened off the shaft and wore away at its drive hub. And finally, I think, after the chain fell off several times, the joining link came undone and snagged the derailer, bending it beyond repair. Researching other 1 star reviews, I came across many others who also say bike stores either hate or refuse to work on the amazon special. It is so bad. It should not be sold. Not sure what to do with it after putting so much additional $$$ into it.
