I know this is super super old but my favorite anime is Dragon Ball Z. It's how my husband and I connected in 2004 when we were 14. And we now have our daughter watching Dragon Ball Super with us. My second favorite is the orginial Sailor Moon. I am so old school.

Would you say that anime goods in Japan are cheaper or generally the same than let's say, the US or Canada?

+Otaku Luoluo It's cheaper than US. Especially Gundams. Gundams in US is double the price of what it is in Japan. This is mainly because of the import tax.

+Techno “TechnoNewcis” Senpai There is consumption taxes in Japan (ie. taxes on goods that we the consumer buy like anime goods). For the U.S. and I assume Canada, there is consumption taxes on an anime goods, plushies, etc. and also import tax as well. That's why anime goods are more pricier in the U.S. than Japan.

I love that animate location. I've been there a handful of times. The fifth floor also has an animate cafe! Right around the courner from there is Kotobukiya which was also an AMAZING place with so many good finds. I found a lot of out of print merch there. Easily my two favorite places for shopping for anime related goods in Akihabara!

***** Nowadays I watch everything in Japanese without any subtitles, but when I was still learning I would watch in Japanese with Japanese subtitles :) And don't worry about shipping! Japanese postage costs are a lot more reasonable compared to Canada, so it doesn't seem like much for me :)
