I’ve seen so many people say that Billie is this generation’s Avril Lavigne and that makes me worried that her career is gonna pan out the same way that Avril’s did, with a promising debut, a fantastic follow up that lived up to that potential, and then it’s all downhill from there and she starts working with generic hitmaker producers like Max Martin in order to stay relevant
@FatadayKorngor
@FatadayKorngor 4 жыл бұрын
Bring Back Kim Possible, Animated Obviously I doubt that that’s gonna happen. Billie knows that Finneas is the only producer that would ever be able to get her vision. Plus, I think she’s smart enough to learn from her inspiration’s shortcomings. Hopefully.
@ronstoppable5659
@ronstoppable5659 4 жыл бұрын
@Fataday Korngor Yeah, I honestly think that she’s better off just working with Fineas, but I would actually be interested in hearing a Butch Walker produced pop rock from Billie at some point though, as long as she avoids people like Max Martin or other hitmaker producers that suck the personality and edge out of every artist they work with (seriously if that’s what Avril sounds like when she’s being produced by him, imagine what he would do to Billie‘s music and creative ideas 😖) she’ll be fine

Suprised to see anyone even mention frank carter. Dude has been making amazing music for years and i feel like nobody even knows him. I really didnt like End of suffering when it first came out but it really grew on me. Its really catchy and has some more pop influenced choruses on the album that caught me off guard but in a good way.

Thumbs up to: KSE (up there with the Howard era stuff imo) FTTG (Yes, that RATM/Fever 333 tour NEEDS to happen) Strung Out Bad Religion Venom Prison Blink-182 (imo, this should've been the follow-up to the self-titled instead of Neighborhoods) Billie Eilish (The hype is real, good stuff) Fever 333 Whitechapel (It's cool to see deathcore having kind of a revival, fingers still crossed for SS next month) Pup (The puppy riding the turtle got me, awww. great album too lol) Tool (it's a grower) Slipknot (Their best album since Vol. 3, maybe even Iowa... and I liked .5 as well) Rock/metal had an amazing year, Billboard can suck it lol, great way to end the decade. Let's keep it up and start the new one right.

Cult of Luna - A Dawn to Fear 2. Brutus - Nest 3. Moron Police - A Boat at the Sea (this is your fault, Crash) 4. PUP - Morbid Stuff 5. black midi - Schlagenheim 6. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Infest the Rats' Nest 7. La Dispute - Panorama 8. Blood Incantation - Hidden History of the Human Race 9. Blut aus Nord - Hallucinogen 10. White Ward - Love Exchange Failure 11. Slipknot - We Are Not Your Kind (honourable mention to one of my teenage years favourite band)

So many good bois in 2019! Glad to see how comfortable you seem with the new aesthetic Crash. Here are my top three albums of the year. 3. Necrophaze by Wednesday 13 (Delightfully campy and heavy horror punk, tons of spooky fun.) 2. I Want the World by Hands Off Gretel (Raucous, grungy British riot grrl with tons of personality and conviction.) 1. Dark Days Bright Lights by Angel Metro (Gorgeous ethereal glitchy witch house with heartbreaking gothic poetry. Angel's voice is beautiful, her arrangements are beautiful, and her lyrics cut deep. This is that good spooky sad girl music.)

Great vid as always, hopefully I get around to listening to some of them at some point, but man I'm finding as I get older I just don't listen to new music as much as I did 5 or 10 years ago. I didn't listen to much new stuff last year, but of the stuff I did listen to I'm pretty sure I can say Ben Kenney's Must Be Nice and The Tea Club's If/When would be pretty damn hard to beat. Yes the incubus bias is strong with Ben's album, but c'mon guys he's just that good and criminally underrated. And The Tea Club is just one of the most pleasant new discoveries I've had in a long time, seriously they are such a good blend of prog rock, folk rock, art rock, with dashes of electronica, and those elements are not easy to meld together so effectively. Like this is all the best elements of classic prog rock, but with dashes of current influences thrown in for good measure. They give me serious Floyd, Yes, Jethro Tull, The Moody Blues, vibes while still being able to offer interesting and fresh new takes on the genre. Seriously big thanks to Become the Knight for introducing me to them in his Rock is not dead playlist.

You actually had the Black Midi album title pretty much right on your first try. That is, if it's meant to be pronounced like a German speaker would - then again, it's not an existing word. It's a combination of two words that don't go together this way - "schlagen" means "to strike, to beat", "Heim" means "home". I honestly have no idea what they were going for, but considering that the track you played in the background was called "bmbmbm", comprehensibility isn't a first priority for these guys.

I'd say Moron Police's album is my personal favourite record for the year, too. It's an incredible listen from the very beginning and I don't know how many times I've gone through the album on my drive home from work. The only bad point is that it's too short, though the closer wraps up the album really well. That being said, they're releasing the album in physical form in Japan soon which I believe has 4 extra tracks, and will eventually be released elsewhere and I really can't wait for that.

Can't find anyone talking about WHO by The Who anywhere. It probably wouldn't be more than a honorable mention, but I haven't seen anyone even mention it and it feels underrated now.

All This Music Will Fade is a solid contender for my song of 2019. In a world so up shit creek with stupidass lawsuits that murder freedom of creativity, it's nice to see The Who show how it should be; the greats stole, and they never faced repercussions, so why should these upstarts, who may have never even heard what their song sounds like? It's not like the music scale is endless anyway. :P

How about that new Rammstein? That was pretty good. Also check out the new Folkstone that came out in 2019. Kickass Italian Folk Metal with Punk influences, so good

I find it hilarious that you and I have the complete opposite opinion on the whole Blink/AVA/Mark/Tom/Matt/Travis thing. I’m on the side of Blink seems to be struggling/putting way too much effort into trying to grasp onto any iota of relevancy they can manage. I actually laughed out loud when you mentioned Matt being able to stretch his wings on Nine because I was literally having a conversation with my GF the other day on how it feels like Matt is just being asked to write riffs that sound like something Tom would’ve written at the tail end of the 90’s as opposed to him being able to bring some of that Alkaline Trio awesomeness to Blink. On the flip side of that, I feel like the new AVA is pretty good (though it’s very obvious you’re not the biggest fan of them and being a band that can really only be described as 30STM with Tom Delonge singing, I can see why). I’ll wholeheartedly admit a good chunk of my opinion is because my own expectations weren’t met because I really wished new Blink would be a mixture of +44 and Alkaline Trio along with being really bummed to not get to hear what would’ve become of songs like New World and Invisible Parade had Mark and Travis had their input on the writing of those songs.

Apropos Otoboke Beaver, if you want some interesting Japanese punk, check out Ling Tosite Sigure. It's prog post-hardcore with shoegaze/mathrock elements and lots of high-pitched vocals. Definitely worth a listen.

Here's another thing to consider with Strung Out: they split with their drummer of 20+ years before. When the album first came out, I was nervous since their first drummer (Jordan Burns) is/was one of the best punk drummers and was a vital part of their sound.
