Is funny how people spinning the tires on snow/ice conditions for 10,000 miles, brake hard, accelerate hard, corner hard, have a crossover/suv that weights almost 5000lb and they expect the tires to magically last 100,000 miles.

A lot of newer tires have tread wear indicators...not an exclusive feature. I had a set of RT 43's...a competent tire with acceptable snow traction. My current Continental True Contact Tour tires are a better tire...quieter, better handling and FAR better snow traction. I'm in northern Michigan...you know, LOTS of winter snow and brutal cold. I have never lived in a southern "no snow" state. I would think that tire selection for a place where winters aren't a concern could get by with about any tire.

Super-helpful, thanks from Central KY! Big, big fan of the RT43s. Can't say enough good about them. I have a third set on my wife's Highlander and a second set on my RX300. I ran a set for more than 60K miles on a Camry I no longer own. My son (near Chicago) bought a set a year ago for his CR-V, having driven the Camry in all conditions. So seven sets total for our family. All from TireRack, drop-shipped to my full-service auto tech. It's a little concerning that some reviewers say the new RT45 is a completely different tire and not a direct replacement. Luckily, I won't have to make that call on either car for another 30-40,000 miles.

I have a 2021 Toyota Tundra that came stock with Bridgestone Alenza H/L. I primarily do only city driving and have 28k miles on the tires. Three weeks ago, i had the tread depth measured at Discount tire, and they were at all at 5/32. I thought that was a little extreme considering the mileage, so i called our local Firestone shop. The manager said that sounds about right for an OEM tire. He stated that OEM tires have less tread depth than tires purched aftermarket even if they are the same brand and model. Well, i can honestly say that the tires have performed very well in all conditions, even at the beach and some very lite off roading. Also, my wife has a 2021 Toyota Highlander, and stock tires are Goodyear Eagel Touring. I can honestly say that they have been an excellent tire and still have plenty of tread after 40k miles. She has done a lot of highway driving and for the past year and half commutes 100 miles on working days. Goodyear Eagel is the only Goodyear tire that I have ever been satisfied with. Just wanted to share my experience. Thanks for the review!

Have had several of the RT43’s and now on the RT45’s that replaced the 43’s zero complaints so far. I think I mentioned it in the video, they may not be the quietest tire on the market, but they’re not like mud tires or all terrains, either. I’m looking for safe and longevity, these fit that well.

A few things. Total miles and price isn't the best measure of a tire. Handling, water dispersion, snow traction, noise, even wear would be for me. VW ID4 is an electric vehicle and they weigh much more than gas vehicles and wear tires out much much much sooner. I'd also say at 57,000 miles I'd certainly consider those stock tires again, if they did the things I mentioned above well.

They were adequate, but cost more than the RT45’s, and they’re not rated as high as the RT45’s. I hope you watched the comparisons I provided. The RT45’s out perform the Bridgestones. My experience with the RT43 was excellent, and I will be reporting back periodically how these RT45’s perform. The only thing I can say at this point is they are a little noisier than the OEM’s. They also have deeper tread and sipes to disperse the water, so I expected them to be a little noisier. I’m willing to accept a little noise for better wet traction. Time will tell, and I will be reporting back. Thanks for commenting. ✌️

I’ve had two sets of Altimax RT43s on my 2005 Camry and found them to be an overall solid tire. I drive in NYC and got about 38k miles on each set. Their wet and dry traction was excellent. Their snow/ice traction was just okay. Where they underperformed for me was the noise. I now have a Rav4 hybrid that came with Toyo OpenCountry A38s and 39k miles they still have a ton of tread life on them, which is surprising, given these are OEM. These are M&S rated tires, unlike the General Altimax, which should be considered if you live in environments where you get occasional snow. It’s not cold/snowy enough here to justify a winter tire set, but occasionally we’ll get a few inches and I’ve found M&S rated tires to perform considerably better in that than non-rated ones.

Considering these for my 22 RAV4 Hybrid XLE. Got about 56k on originals with no rotation. Going to need replacing before the snow flies, and ideally before the rainy fall season here in the Midwest. What’s your opinion on these after several months? All you’d hoped/expected? Noticeably more noisy? Any noticeable changes in ride quality?
@RealWorldGarage
@RealWorldGarage 3 ай бұрын
@@terrahnunley7381 like I said in the video, this is my second set and my dads on his second or third. They have been doing just fine, and always feel sure footed in the rain. They do have a little more noise compared to the OEM tires, but they also have more tread than the OEM so that’s to be expected somewhat. Handling and road manners are good, so no problem with the ride. I have not been in/on snow since I purchased these tires, so I can’t say how they perform there, we rarely get snow. LI can only rely on the information given in the reviews, which said they did well. We get a good bit of rain here and they do well in the wet. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. ✌️

@@KittyKittyCat-vf8zd I believe the standard for all wheel drive is no difference of more than 2/32nds. Replacing all tires on ALL wheel drive is optimal though. Rotate every 5k to increase the life of the tire. On front wheel drive only, you can do 2 tires at a time, 4 tires is optimal, but not 💯 necessary. Also try not to mix and match tread design.

You said you live in Mississippi. Your not considering freeze/thaw......rubber hates freeze/thaw. What works best in one part of the country may not be best for the rest. They get hard and loose traction after a year or two. It doesn't seem to matter much what brand or how much I've spent in the past. Had these RT45's for 2 years and 20k miles. Was expecting to replace the stock tires on my Hyundai Elantra with the RT43's which were great on my previous two cars, one being a minivan. I Find out they were discontinued and not available at that store but the RT45 was. I never buy without checking reviews but I couldn't wait and the guy said they don't go backwards when designing tires. I got them and OH BOY was that the BIGGEST Mistake I ever made in a tire. My old stock tires were much better even though they were worn out. The moment I left the shop there was terrible noise. Different noise at different speeds getting worse the faster you go. There was also immediate vibration and was not a smooth ride. Also a slight shimmy. I couldn't believe it! They also don't track well. They are little drifty and I'm always correcting my steering. I actually went back two days later to have them rebalance the tires but no change. After two or three months of driving I decided to pay for another balance at a different place just to be sure. I know my alignment is good. Still no change. I don't know if they are just not a good match for a sedan or what but I know can't wait until it's time to replace them. A very uncomfortable ride. Not any of those problems before even with my worn out Nexen's. Just an FYI from experience if it helps anyone.

Caught it two weeks before warranty was up but they only refinish the area where they see it flaking off which was front hood and the roof. 5 months later it is flaking off other areas.
