Sad story time, I bought my first otf it was a Microtech Spartan Ultratech and I never spent that much money on a knife ever. I saw it I loved it and used it four times and now know what’s it’s like to feel a knife of that quality. Just to place it back in the bag and give it to a friend of the family who has helped us out in many ways who is really into knives. Needless to say he loved it for his birthday and never expected it at all but it made his day for sure. Oh also I never said it was a bad sad I just now know that the Microtech hellhound Bounty hunter(my dream knife) has to be a reality now!

Micro tech overrated so much wiggle and play doesn’t feel like holding a knife. And they don’t even try and better their design. Internals are all same. They just waiting until Hawk patent is up and will just copy theirs. I can’t support paying their costs when they don’t evolve their design.

I just got an Ultratech for my wife, because she’s left handed. Had the knife dealer flip the clip. I opened the box, and went to deploy it, and damn it was stiff. Really stiff! Sometimes retracting the blade, I had to use both thumbs. This won’t do. I’ve had an Ultratech about 13 years ago, and it deployed pretty easily. That’s why I got it for my wife. I did try filling it with REM oil, and blowing out with compressed air, and that barely helped. I’ve opened a warranty ticket with Microtech, and have them look at it, and also make that nominal adjustment to make it just a touch easier to operate.

Perfect timing 👌 Edit: Oh and Kurt fyi bud single action OTF's are more work but they also fire harder and usually a tad faster than a dual but the biggest advantage is that they're stronger overall when using and or stabbing. @jeremiahsult91242 жыл бұрын
@@blainwilson7937 I have owned cheaper otf knives but I haven’t really met a competitor other then the already well known ones. I think it’s a great knife and that it’s really cool that you can buy multiple blade styles, but I do feel it’s a little too heavy. Sure it doesn’t significantly weigh my pockets down, but is feels a little off in the hand. A slight issue I’ve seen with it is the release switch being too difficult to open. I have no problem opening it but most people that I let try, can’t get it open without two hands. And those are some of the differences I’ve noticed between Cobra Tech and it’s competitors
@blainwilson79372 жыл бұрын
@@jeremiahsult9124 I think CobraTec is built like a tank and guys who really use their knives won’t worry too much about this brand. I like the idea of MicroTech but they have proprietary screws and want you to send it back, CobraTec is easy to disassemble and is user friendly.

That’s why I’m never getting knife with wave. I know it works with some practice. I know it speeds up the process of deploying the blade. I know You can cut yourself with every type of knife, even when being careful. But the idea of opening the knife, while it’s being pulled from my pocket, without any control, with razor sharp blade next to my thigh/hip/belly is not only risky but simply scary. More than doing tricks with a butterfly.Emerson wave knives (and probably karambits) will never be in my collection.
