Lmao. Well, I'm not sure about the original design. But the modified one was just me looking at it and noticing things that weren't needed. With my rex/giga trap design though, it was a lot of placing things till it worked then adjusting the concept from there.

First trap is amazing cuz if you can lure them in and trap them, they tend to jump a ton. This drains their food so much so they lose like 1k food by the time you knock em out so its basically an insta tame

You may have placed the triangle wrong. If that's the case, it can escape from time to time. But, I haven't been on to test it recently. So it's possible this has been changed.

For some weird reason I can't put the hatchframe onto the sloped wall. Is there any reason why? The server has no colision enabled for building. I do however still use the s+ structure mod instead of the vanilla stuff.

As long as you're placing it on the correct object, there's no reason it should do that. I'm not sure. Never tan into the issue.

On PC, if you hit the "Q" button (assuming default keys) it will cycle through snapping points. Try that out. It might work.

Lol one method for free is to look in the sky and see one trapped stand on the back of your dragon or shot from the back of the griffin and knock it out mid air, you can access its inventory mid air and it wont get attacked by random dinos feed it prime meat or mutton then jump on the back of the mana, cryopod it up parachute and whistle your flyer to follow you and walla. Did this last night because I couldnt get a snow owl in the trap lmao

Place the initial one, then once it's head is inside of it. Just try to place it as close to the other as possible. So once it turns green is probably fine.
