For mesmer, i think one thing that can help it is a visual range indicator and not watching the skill animation for positioning. It was pretty clunky and hit & miss for clarity, even with a large hit box boss for me. BUT I do agree, it was one of the most enjoyable spears of them all.

What intrigued me the most is the Elementalist. I do enjoy the traditional mage mechanics wielding the spear, even though it's highly animated, although it does make it easier to tell when to cast the next spear ability. I've gotten the feel of how to proc the powerful attack after using Spear Skill 5 on all attunements. I was mostly weirded out on Haboob--not sure if it's buggy, but Earth Attunement felt lacking. Earth Attunement is great, but I have not gotten a work around build to make it slightly useful. The Air and Fire Attunements we much more impactful. Water Attunement Skill 4 is a funny meme. Overall I would give the Elementalist's Spear weapon a high B tier. It was definitely a blast! On the other hand, it could use more damage, BUT I do smell a Spear-wielding support Tempest for WvW ;)

Thief needs disclaimer: Spear is for PvE only. Hard to hit anyone and people can just walk away from the attacks.

I feel like all Elementalist needs is better numbers. Currently it seems fine in open world since it has quite good AoE, the water pull is nice. For instanced content it simply doesn't deal enough damage. Also, for the love of Grenth give the ele water charge the ability to cancel it, like Guardian has. While we're at it, do the same for Ride the Lightning.

a very sadge beta for warriors... a spear that does just.. dmg... 0 condi, 0 boons.. not even a gap closer.. a pseudo-ranged weapon.. And with the dmg being on the lower side as well.

I have exactly the same feedback on Guardian's spear. The base kit is solid: cone AoE auto attack, movement skill which could be improved, melee cleave attack, ranged attack, symbol with Cc and Weakness application. Good visuals. The illumination mechanic is badly designed though. Except Symbol of Luminance every illuminated skill is weak and unimaginitive. For example Illuminated Helio Rush heals allies by 10% more. Illuminated Gleaming Disc adds but a blind aand Illuminated Solar Storm can't even benefit from increased number of damage instances because the hit cap per target remains the same. Illumination could not have existed and the spear would feel the same. Illuminated skills should be way more impactful. And the mechanic's condition should be the same for all skills - every other skills gets illuminated.

Warrior should get cripple added to 1 at range, and as you said change 3 to a leap (assuming we are sticking to this weird melee ranged spear does more damage direction). Personally I would rather them just remove that more damage at close range thing, it is supposed to be a ranged weapon, right?
