is it possible for y'all to stay on task? This video was titled Best and worst states to fly a drone. A 26:36 min. video, and about 20:00 min. of useless yapping and reminiscing. I thought I could hear about good and bad states to fly a drone. but all I heard was about California, North Carolina, Florida, and some naked chick laying out. Listening to yall is kind of like watching paint dry.

Update on North Carolina Law: Infrared or other similar thermal imaging technology may be used in North Carolina. The law states that it is illegal to published or disseminate, for any purpose, recorded images that reveals individuals, materials, or activities inside of a structure without the consent of the property owner. Pretty much a privacy law and I agree. Law however says in nutshell that law enforcement may do it without your consent within their legal means (search warrant, probable cause, crime in progress, and etc).

When i deal with the "crazies", my favorite argument is Google Maps. I'm careful enough to stay high enough when over private property, that when I remind them that Google Maps is capable of displaying "closer/lower" images, 9 times out of 10, it shuts them up instantly.

From the NC DOT site... Guidelines for Recreational Users Recreational UAS/drone operators are not required to obtain a license or permit from the Division of Aviation. Then goes on to list the standard FAA bullet points (

Mississippi is absolutely one of the best places to fly..they are so relaxed and actively trying to become one of the best places to fly. We are one of few places that has a drone program.

I live in NC. Sucks I have a friend that has over 500 acres of beautiful places to fly. The guy has his own airplane and runway. So I can fly whenever without worrying.

would DJIs flight history log be sufficient enough should I ever have to show what the FAA is considering keeping a flight log book. I recently downloaded a $10 app which in my opinion seems to be a waste of time when you have something with such precise information like the on board flight history. Then the only log book that would have to be manually logged is maintenance.

I have a question regarding compass calibration. I own a spark, mavic and phantom 4 pro plus and every video I see with people doing compass calibrations they hold the drone and keep it on its axis instead of just holding the drone and walking around in a circle which is what I prefer because I don't like to put my hands all over the drone and possibly accidentally hit the gimbal or something. Also the picture for the vertical calibration clearly shows the drone on it's side but alot of people point the nose of the drone straight down. Just wondering what is the best way.

Only drone law in ND is North Dakota Code Sec. 29-29.4-01: Limits the use of drones for surveillance, crime investigation, and other uses by law enforcement (creates the requirement of a warrant, etc.). Otherwise, fly per FAA rules and you are fine.

I am from Wyoming & been to Yellowstone & Grand Teton many times over the years..Currently no drones are allowed..don't expect any changes anytime soon..For preservation of environment & wildlife..Shutdown because someone already put their drone into a geyser..would be a crazy place to visit without restriction.. I Fly Quads I fly at night. I didn't know you were supposed to do that. I usually have my drone just hovering in my yard next to the highway. I just watch people going back and forth as they wave at the drone. It's funny, watch people when they see drones they love to wave.

I live in Iowa. I recently contacted the Iowa D.N.R. requesting information on any laws they had on Drones in State Parks. I told them I love taking pictures and videos of the nature in Iowa. I wanted to be completely compliant with any laws. I was referred to their legal department. I asked the same questions. It's been a month now with no reply. I'm going to keep a copy of my e-mail with me when I go to the park. I was informed at one park that is an Army Core of Engineers project that you can't fly a drone over ANY A.C.E. project.

Wikid I also live in Iowa. I was at Lake Red Rock and was approached by a park attendant advising I couldn't fly there. I have emailed them as well, and I'm still waiting to hear back.

Hey guys, I just bought a Mavic Pro and thought about catching up on the new laws as I'm going to a National Monument next weekend and wanted to get some footage... now I think I might just send the quad back! I also live in ABQ, on Kirtland, but now realized I can't even fly in my own backyard! I flew years ago, home built quad and hexa that ran ArduPilot, it was the wild wild west, fly anywhere. Not so much now. I can't believe the NPS rule, why hasn't someone challenged this in court? If the FAA makes laws regarding airspace, why are they not acting as the vetting authority for which rules other agencies want to enact? If NPS want's drones banned, they should ask the FAA to put a ban in place. The FAA can validate and authorize.

I lived in North Carolina for over 10 yeas before I moved to Texas. And I just got a drone and had no idea that the drone laws in NC were so bad. Too bad, it’s a beautiful state.

I live in Mississippi. According to the applicable law I have found, laws here are primarily focused on privacy and Peeping Tom laws. Just about all of them specifically mentions that intent of lewd or indecent purposes. I have flown several times at a local state park, once with permission and several times without with no problems. I always go out of my way to fly at times when there aren't a lot of campers or organized activities going on and to avoid areas that I would be annoying anyone.

Are you tired of being told no ? Then join me in our fight to get our rights back , do you pay taxes ? Of course you do just like every other American so as long as you fly "safe !" you should have as much right to fly there , as anyone walking their dog , riding their bike , shooting pictures with their cellphone or just walking and you should have as much right to be there as anyone else, as long as we are not creating a hazard like within 5 miles of an airport . Go on Google and find out who your state and federal law makers are for your state and save their phone numbers and their email address and call them every time you think about being told no , be nice . But don't stop there call everyone you can find that fly's and have them do the same everywhere you are told no , get the number for who runs that park or wild life refuge or whatever and tell them you pay taxes just like they do , and that you fly responsibly and invite them to watch your videos . And soon they will get the idea and understand that 99.999% of us are safe respectful pilots . Point out to them how many things that people use everyday that aren't banded , but are abused like cameras on cellphones fast cars guns boats jet-ski's and on and on and what our world would be like if everything that could be abused were band . I call all of them at least once a week and I'm starting to get return calls from them asking how they can help . And they all say they now understand drones aren't bad , stupid people are . And they all know I vote and so do most of my friends that fly . And point out that they work for you and you need their help . If all of the millions of drone pilots call once a week things will change as they become better educated about the truth about what drones can and can't really do .

This video is over two years old. Could you do a new updated version? I'd also mention that since UASs are aircraft, then the ONLY government body to have authority over them is the FAA. How the heck is any state creating laws about aircraft even if they are RC UASs? It seems to involve simple ignorance of the fact that they (state law makers) actually can't make the laws they are making.

North Carolina the worst state to fly a quad copter? Weird, more than once I went to Lake Lure N.C. made beautiful flights over the lake, police patrolling around me and I did not get any negative word from them. And I believe there are more places where I can fly as long it is no National Park. Of course I understand that making some commotion is always good click bait. Nevertheless I will take care.
