Acquired a recent ankle injury. Your videos are always informative and very helpful for all ortho issues I have. PT/OT is truly the most underrated and underutilized medical field. I fractured my ankle a couple of months ago and got rid of the cast around 4 weeks ago. I had been feeling a bit better but was frustrated that I had been feeling kind of the same for almost two weeks and still had to use one crutch. Found this and started doing these exercises and finally felt good enough to start walking without a crutch!

Hello, I had my cast off one week ago. Still walking with two crutches. Could you tell how many weeks after your cast was taken off did you start walking with one and then without crutches and also when were you able to do those exercices ? I am just starting to do the non-bearing ones becouse I can't quite put my whole feet flat on the ground yet without pain. Hope you recover and best wishes !

Very timely video for me; as I broke both my ankles in a freak incident two weeks ago.. I will be bookmarking this video for my rehab stage - definitely not there yet but my crutches will come in handy to help during those hopping exercises. Thank you so much Bob and Brad for these very helpful videos. I broke my fibula two weeks ago after a fall. Recently switched from a ankle brace to a full boot since I felt the former was not immobilizing my ankle and foot well enough. Since I started wearing the boot, I have been experiencing a lot a cramping from my Achilles’ tendon all the way up my calf. This happened every time I got up to walk. So got some muscle relaxants and taking Ibuprofen. Now trying to massage the calf and stretch it which has helped

These are great exercises to know. I especially appreciated your comments about the hip abductor and how it, and the whole leg needs to be rehabbed and strong to be back to normal. I have had SO MANY injuries to my ankles and legs and only once have I had a PT give me any of these exercises. And then it was only with the bands! So, this is just great for me. With these I hope to prevent any further falls. Thank you!

Great ideas guys! I'm a PTA but I still love watching your videos! Usually there's at least one thing per video that i hadn't thought of before that I can add to my treatments. Today I learned that new exercise for IR/ER that I'm sure will be a fun addition for my teen patients. I always have trouble coming up with high level exercises for knee patients who want to get back to running. I would love if you guys could do a video like this one but for knees. Thank you!

Today I impacted my left foot while I was riding my bicycle, but not twisted my foot (sprained ankle), the impact was pretty much straight down on the whole foot on a hard surface. I don't think it's broken, but after a half a day it started to swallow. I wrapped around ice pack and elevated my left leg with the icepack on the foot. How long should I have the icepack on? I guess not during the whole night, correct? I can't walk on my left foot, it's too painful. I am just hopping on the other leg, because I don't have a cane or crunches. Should I still go to urgent care?

i had ankle sprain inflamation 9 months ago , i tried to do these excerises , also did utra sonic and tense , take medicine , but the pain sometimes go and come gain always like this , ice can make my ankle feel better and my ankle being swollen less , but when i walk pain come again , MRI show this: ( Minimal fluid signal is seen surrounding the tibialis posterior & peroneal tendons. Normal MRI signal of these tendons. Normal signal intensity pattern of the Achillis tendon. No evidence of ligamental injury. Small Os naviculare. Normal marrow signal intensity pattern of the examined bones. Minimal ankle joint as well as subtalar effusion noted)

Thanks for the video really informative and fun, ive had an ankle injury since late last year and it comes back when im playing soccer and do difficult turns and tricks id sprain it again. Ive gone to the physio but its really expensive (went to 3 sessions). Would youse recommend surgery

I've never sprained my ankles but I roll my ankles all the time! At least once a day I roll one or both of my ankles. I roll both to the outside of my feet. I even used to stand on the outside of my ankles. Anytime this has happened, the pain ranges from non-existent to maybe a two. I'm just wondering if this is normal or not. I do have high arches.

My I ask? I broke my leg ( my foot, tibia, and ankle ) about 8 mos. ago. It is coming off soon but I wanted to know if you know any ankle exercises I could do to strengthen it? PLEASE HELP :O PS. I had a in home physical therapist but he has had to sequester/Quarantine himself. {As have we}. He doesn't have it but he is in the age group that can, so that's why.

Guessing d point of dat is to prevent movement so..? I've just had a slight sprain while walking stepped on some uneven, stones pavement n was actually able to walk better before went to this 'bone setter' - he moved foot left right n pressed it hard near d bone n it hurt ( not sure if d pressure he put caused pain or it's some ligament damage) hes asked to keep it 5 days.. Any suggestions?

I am a teacher and sprained my ankle a year ago while coming down the stairs. Xray showed no fracture but MRI showed inflammatory synovitis with mild ankle joint effusion. I had no option to quit the job at that time, so I took no rest and kept working all days. I used to get cramps and pain while standing, walking, climbing stairs and swelling by the end of the day. The injury became more serious and I had to quit the job. It's been almost 2 months now I have been resting at home. But still I can't walk properly and my ankle shows stiffness, redness, swelling and burning pain. I can climb the stairs but can't go down the stairs easily. It really hurts. I feel hopeless and helpless thinking that my ankle has been permanently damaged. Not understanding what to do.... totally fed up now.☹️😫

I'm sorry to hear about this. Start slow in any rehab you do. Strive to get in flexibility movements in every day. It's important to get good blood flow to the ankle. I'd recommend getting an Airex pad large size and just using it for balance, ankle rehab bare basics minimum movements following a basic exercise routine. For recovery I use collagen protein boost packets (Frog Fuel power protein). Massage the area with a arthritis rub..I use epsom salt/rubbing alcohol mix.

Fractured my tibia + fibula, all healed up now...but for some reason the TOP OF MY FOOT has stiffness and soreness.. Almost like knuckles in the fingers need to be cracked, that's how it feels.. Anybody know what this is from ? Maybe I'm not stretching enough and doing my PT enough :(

They can’t answer because they are not your medical providers. If they tell you what is OK or NOT OK they risk liability issues, ie. If they advise you on KZbin and you Injure yourself more you can go and sue them and they can be liable for your exacerbated injury. This is why they post general videos for Injuries and not specific answers to your specific injury.

Love the content guys, keep it up! I went over funny on my ankle a few month back playing football (soccer) and it’s not been the same since. Immediately after I used the rice technique to reduce swelling and inflammation, it worked a treat. However once I thought I recovered I continued playing. During these games when tackling with force the pain came back. I then used the rice technique again, however this was not effective as there was no swelling or inflammation present. I then played earlier this week and went over awkwardly on it again and the same pain has been more consistent, it hurts the most when applying pressure on the joint such as walking on it. I can plantar flex with no problem however when I dorsi flex the inside of my foot below the bone hurts excessively. Do you have any idea what damage I may have sustained and now how to fix the issue ? Keep up the great content guys!

I will certainly not be hopping - you guys do realize there is something called leaky bladders, right!? Other than that, classic leg workout exercises, so I have no problems with them, other than getting a shoe on as my ankle was broken and I have little to no help from Dr or anyone.
