I'd love to see results for a Blackout Defense Keymo Hybrid.

If you have one and want to loan it to us we would do a quick test. From a design standpoint I would guess it is going to act somewhere in between a flash hider (no recoil reduction) and a low performance brake (less than 50% reduction). It does have some baffles so it will provide some reduction but it only has one side port and not a lot of area to push on. My guess would be 20-30% reduction. They are advertising it as a flash hider, a flash hider has zero recoil reduction.

I would love to see a two tiered test. The quality of a brake is hard to measure since it's a lot of preference. Personally I would rather have a brake that removes the muzzle RISE rather than the recoil remitted. If the dot doesn't move up... I am not waiting on the muzzle to settle on a hammered pair if the dot is still in the target area I want to hit.
@StonerCNC5 ай бұрын
I agree with what you’re saying. My plan is to do a second test showing muzzle return. The best I have come up with is shooting some hammered double pairs on paper to see how the impact moves. This is what was done on the initial development of the Stoner CNC brake. We found that a balanced brake with our baffle design produced the best return to center. Top ports actually drove the gun down and was less controllable. Other brakes we tested showed similar results. This is contrary to some popular opinions on the matter. I may do some long range double pairs also. If you have suggestions on the testing I will consider them.

Nice comparison thank you. Would you consider doing the comparison test again but this time have a noise metering device placed at the butt stock to measuring sound also?
@StonerCNC3 ай бұрын
I tried to measure the sound with a sound meter near the gun during testing. However, the meter's reading varied very little from Comp to comp. I think the this is due to 2 things. 1 the sound change was only a couple milli seconds and 2 it may have been above the meters sound range as the highest reading I got was 119.7DB. The top 3 brake have the most noise/concussion and produced the best results recoil reduction on and off the sled. We are going to make another video in the near future I will try to include some sort of noise rating in that video. Thanks for your comments

Thanks so much for this video. It helpe me decide which brake to purchase. Ended up getting the Hollywood brake. Put it on my Saint Victor 5.56 with 16” barrel. The concussion to the shooter is on the extreme side, just about knocks my hat off. Was wondering if you experienced the same amount of shooter blowback. Thank you :)
@StonerCNC3 ай бұрын
The concussion on the top 3 brakes are very and similar and aggressive. I should have mentioned that in the video. I am making a second video in month to address some of the items I missed.

I got an apollo max, but the gases and dirt doesn’t let me shoot rapidly I have to wait to everything settle then take my other shot, the stoner hollywood would do the same?
@StonerCNCАй бұрын
The Apollo Max has ports that are angled further back at the shooter than any other brake. They are approximately 50 degrees rearward facing on the Apollo Max. The Stoner CNC Hollywood and most other high performance brakes are closer to 40 degrees to reduce some the concern you are talking about. We talk about it in the second shootout some. See the attached link kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKXUpp2vfcaeibcsi=o74--k8TzWvs2Itb I don't have problem shooting the Stoner CNC as fast as can pull the trigger. However, if you are are running a barrel shorter than 16" it might be more noticeable.

The Hypertap still wins. It is 2oz lighter (which is like 40+%) that is a monumental difference. Considering it can be found on sale for $110 and it was only a 5% (which you will not feel) It is the clear winner. IMO

Great video! Are the recoil reduction better with these than a muzzle break + silencer? Or are silencers not allowed in competitions for some reason? Always wondered why I never see competitors with silencers. Cheers

@@smurfaka I have not personally tested a silencer on a sled. However, from what I seen online they are not as effective at recoil reduction as good brake. If do a future test I may try one. However, at this time I do not own one.

@@thatboygerv I would be happy to test them in the future. At the time we picked what was available and we thought was the best. I choose the Apollo max over the Unrivaled because it was in stock I believe the unrivaled was sold out .
