For all of you like me who hate suspense, the round is 6UM. I'll admit I've never heard of it but didn't want to wait to hear it. Others should copy this post so it doesn't get derrick at the bottom and others can see quickly. Very interesting ability this cartridge has, but I'll stick to a way less expensive round that doesn't destroy my barrel that fast. Super cool stuff but over $3 around and barrel done in 800 rounds is crazy brother

Sometimes people want as fast as velocities as possible so they can run a shorter barrel with a suppressor. The 270 win does not do what the 6.8 western does! Great video and explanation of the cartridge. I've been intrigued about it since listening to the Shoot2Hunt podcast. Pretty impressive speeds in the 6mm family. Definitely a barrel scorcher if you shoot a decent amount but 3400fps in a 20" barrel< what do you expect lol? Wonder what it would do in a 24" or 26" barrel if your dropping 150fps in the 18" vs 20"?

I’d guess close to 3600fps in a 24in screamer may 3700fps in a 26. 3250 is just where it landed on decent es and sd.

The only issue I noticed about this video is calling it a long range big game cartridge. In the chart at 5:25 it shows the kentic energy at 1000 yards and it is only 880 ft/lbs. Most hunting style bullets only expand down to 1800 ft/lbs which would limit this gun to 400 yards. Can it be done or has it been done... sure. Should the typical Joe go out and think they can kill elk at 1,000 with any cartridge, absolutely not. Just know you rifle and bullet. Other then that, great infomative video about a round I have not heard about.
@JustAnotherGuyAdventures
@JustAnotherGuyAdventures 4 сағат бұрын
That’s not actually true. Most bullet manufactures say bullets will expand down to 1800fps. Using velocity not energy I’ve heard the hornady guys even claim down to 1600 fps. I agree not everyone should be shooting out to 1000 and everyone should know their limit.

That is another case i would like to build a rifle for. But I have invested into the wssm cases already. I might have to follow and old India proverb. No matter how far down the wrong road you have gone, stop and turn around!

@@JustAnotherGuyAdventures no primal would be more. If it was just the PRC case I believe saum is more however the primal has the shoulder pushed out increasing the powder capacity like a AI case does.

Seems to be a competition rifle cartridge. Totally not ethical to hunt an elk with such a weenie little caliber are those monolithic bullets or crap non bonded cup and core bullets

All these 6mm guys make me laugh my ass off when they try to make something out of nothing lmao what a joke. My 2506 can shoot 1,000 yards with a 120 gr partition..... congrats on nothing i guess? But also my 28 nosler can shoot well over 1,000 yards with a 175 gr accubond and still generate over 1,000 ft lbs of energy at 1,000 yards. Your little baby man 6mm cant sooooo what you trying to prove? Guess what? My $1,100 gun with a $699 leupold scope will do ten times more than that little toy you got there. Looks like the 6mm looses again 😂
