I love these videos. You are doing an unbelievable job of comparing these vacuum cleaners for someone who is not technically working for like consumer reports or something. In previous videos though you did more work on how efficiently the vacuums pick up debris on various floor surfaces like carpets and hard woods. In this video, did I miss the hard wood test section or was it not there? I am assuming maybe the s9+ and the ecovacs had comparable performance on hard floors but I’m not really sure.

I’ve had a Roomba 960 for many years now and I love it. I was going to upgrade to the s9+ but I’ve seen soo many bad reviews on bestbuys website. Many people are getting error codes and having to send the robot back. I noticed the s9+ was out of stock for a while recently maybe they are trying to fix it. Anyway, I purchased a Dyson V15 instead (which I absolutely love!). I’ll keep using my Roomba 960 and maybe I’ll wait til the next generation robots come out. Thanks for the video!

Ecovacs t8 here. Running it in a nearly empty basement for cat litter. I've had a few map/tracking issues. When you break a room up into sections (which is a nightmare on their app) and select which rooms you want done, it has a habit of forgetting areas. So you'll initiate cleaning and see later than it missed an entire section or large portion of the room it was working on. This wasn't an issue until after their recent update (maybe a month ago). The auto empty bin has a lot of issues for me. The deebot doesn't sit down far enough in the charge station so when the auto empty bin activates, the deebot is sitting too high from the base for the suction to empty the bin... When it does sit correctly, sometimes the auto empty will fail because the bottom flaps will not open. I'm unsure if the auto empty problems are from the cat litter but I don't think there is enough of it to cause issues. Regardless it's a nice robot vaccume, it has its big issues in the software department, which I hope a future update addresses (the app sucks!) and overall it has been a major asset for keeping my basement clean.

Thank you for your videos, very informative! If possible, I would like to have a maintenance part when you do a review. For example try to clean the front wheel on a t8 aivi vs a roomba 980, then one can see that the t8 has chosen a very difficult way for the consumer to clean it. I’m sure you have good experience on what to check for regarding maintenance without actually have to use the vacuum for a month. And that would be valuable information in a review. Thanks again for your good videos!:)

4 year old roomba 966 here. Tempting to update to a self cleaning - not only good for not emptying the bins but I assume they also keep the general bottom of the robot cleaner too - less dust between the extractor/bin which sometimes falls on the floor when you’re emptying etc.

I bought the T8+ AIVI after your last video and it has been almost flawless. I dont have the auto empty bin. Only issue is it hasnt figured out to dodge a cat fishing pole/teaser toy and will get caught on it, but dodges everything else. Otherwise it never has got lost and cleans the house perfectly. I do with the bin was larger because we do have a large 4 bedroom house and 2 long haired cats so the 420ml bin gets full of cat hair even if running it once every 2-3 days.

@@CannabisTechLife I had the same thoughts about Shark. I am getting rid of mine. Honestly, I end up babysitting it trying to get it to clean my living room area rug and 5 or 6 or 7 times later, there still was lint. I took out my Shark Liftaway and the lint was gone in 60 seconds. Also, I babysat a cat and the cat knocked kitty litter on the floor and the Shark robot vac dragged the kitty litter throughout the house and I needed to pull out the Liftaway for that, too. That is when I finally just put the robot vac away because it almost always misses things and the Liftaway never does.

I have been using T8AIVI since it came out in April (China); I don't have any navigational issue but I do notice that after half a year of use it may recreate my apartment by expanding/overlapping/overlaying the initial map. The issue can be overcome by resetting the map but I hope they can use the technology to separate the furniture from the wall and set the wall to "read-only" so the map will not be overwritten future Lidar map.

Great video and comparison. Questions: Is the room setup software only on smart devices, or is there an application for desktop computers as well? With robotic vacuum is the best in terms of privacy? Do we trust the robot/software with the cameras? Should we worry? I mean, I'm sure there's a form of data-mining going on.

I took the plunge on a new vacuum after watching the video. Purchased the Walmart R100S with auto empty bin. Unit comes up as RV1000SV self empty. 6hr charge, then first run ok but missed a lot on the map. Unfortunately I accepted the map and that locked the robot vac in and it never went to the missing rooms. Had to delete this map and start over. Still missing one room and in hopes it will pick up on it next go. So far there is no cat hair tangle on the roller or roller bearings. Can't wait to it runs again!

First the banging into the floor trim making a black line on my white trim, second and most important was the cat hair getting into the roller bearings. Just ordered a Deebot T8AVI and it gets here tomorrow. The price including the auto empty bin has come down a lot now that they have several newer generations out and you can find the pro mop upgrade pretty reasonably now too if you do some research. I've had the 900,and now the 960 with the lidar and camera options and one of the drive wheels was having issues on the 960 so decided to upgrade again. Looking forward to hopefully a even better robot I don't have to empty every day. I think I got the wheel working ok again on the 960 but really wanted the auto empty feature and improved suction and navigation. Parts are readily available for most of the Deebot robots for a reasonable price if anything breaks and so are the brush and filter kits that include all the wear items.

I can always count on you to help support my vacuum obsession, I absolutely cannot stand dirty floors. I bought the T8 on sale at Best Buy back around October or November, I did so after my Roborock S5 failed. I want to love the T8 but it leaves me frustrated with the dust bin issue. I have 5 large dogs so I run mine every day at 3pm. Hard floor cleaning is excellent and it does a fairly good job on carpet. I still hit the carpet with my upright once or twice a month. It is also the quietest robot that I've had to date. That being said, I have a frequent issue with the T8 being unable to completely empty itself. It regularly clogs at the two spring doors or can't manage to empty the entire bin. I also had a weird issue with the app not giving me the option to "empty dustbin." I uninstalled the app several times to no avail, I finally left it alone and it has since showed up after an app update. I'm conflicted about selling it and getting an i7 or Shark or waiting for the AE solution from Xiaomi later this year... What's your recommendation in this situation?
@VacuumWars
@VacuumWars 3 жыл бұрын
I sympathize with you. I think that it's probably the amount of hair being just too much for that robot. You might try scheduling it to clean one room at a time or a combination of rooms so that it can empty itself first. For example set it to clean the bedroom at 1pm and the kitchen at 2pm or something similar.

I live in a 2 story home with the new version of the Shark IQ. It's pretty easy just to pick up the robo vacuum and place it anywhere upstairs. It has stair sensors and knows when it's covered all the floor and will try to return to it's base. I just turn it off and place it back on it's dock. But there's a few other brands that have robo vacs that will map multiple floors. Robo vacuum tech is advancing quickly.

The one piece of info that I would like included which I know would be difficult because it would take a long time, is the length of time the vacuum lasts. The early neato vacuums broke in less than 2 years. The neato bovac 5 I love but stopped working after 2 1/2 years. If I spend $1000 dollars, how long will it last? It would be worth it if it lasted 10 years. What is the Romba 9 plus customer support and will they guarantee It will work for 10 years? I always get the Best Buy extra warranty but it is only for 4 years and would not be worth it on a $1000 vacuum if it only lasts a little over 4 years.

And it gets stuck. But where it does clean, it cleans very well. So I might upgrade to the one with a floor tracker or another brand. I had a Neato d7 for a year. @@AdamsReviews the problem is the price point of those certain brands. I have an upstairs and downstairs, got two shark IQs for ~$250-400 each (one was refurbished) with self-empty bin. Yes the app/map has issues at times, I have to re-add the rooms once in a while but for the price point, not having to buy new bags etc. its great value. So while you are saving money, you do lose a bit of time with higher end features. The problem with dropping $1600-2k on a better brand (2 of them total), they aren't perfect either and also users report having issues with them as well. Also upgrading from a higher priced robot vacuum is tougher and since the self-empty tech is only going to get better and cheaper (like smart phones), it makes sense for some people to come in at a lower price.

@@DaimyoSexy I agree. I don’t want to spend a lot on a robot. And this robot isn’t bad. It just has 1 or 2 things I don’t like that the new version has. I like to replace my robot once a year or so. @@DillonCleans I have the new shark from costco and haven't had any major problems yet. Model # is UR1100S1US (Costco just lists it as the shark IQ). Seems to be creating a map, but we are doing a remodel and have lots of moving pieces and stuff crammed into rooms that would normally be much more open. Seems to work pretty good actually. I have a feeling the i8+ that costco sells would be even better (It's an upgraded I7+), the i9+ seems to have a lot of poor reviews. However I hate the idea of having to buy bags all the time. With the shark I just take the dust bin outside and dump it in the trash. I can't imagine replacing a $5 bag every week or even twice a week. And there is no way the bag will last a month for us with our dogs. Our upright has to be dumped a few times just to clean the whole house manually, granted it grabs more stuff than a robot vaccume will. Sure maybe it would only cost $20 a month for the bags, but that actually adds up pretty quickly given the higher price to start with.

I have the T8 AIVI and your comments on auto-emptying hair are accurate but at least for me absolutely no issue at all. I’ll be honest, when I first got it and did the initial mapping run I thought I’d made a terrible mistake when the extractor ports got clogged when emptying the bin at the end of the run but I now run it every single day and have never had an issue since. One thing you didn’t mention was battery life which for me is a huge advantage of the T8 AIVI vs my previous Roomba i7+. My i7+ had to recharge mid way to clean the front of my home whereas the T8 AIVI gets back to the dock with about 70% battery still left. And it’s not only that. Batteries lose run time as they age but with my T8 AIVI having so much extra battery life to spare I suspect I will be able to put quite a few years of use onto my battery before the run time degrades to the level where I need to think about replacing it, a fact that makes me comfortable setting it to run every single day without worrying about wearing out the battery too quickly.

@@warrenandyiching I’ve had mine about 4 months running twice every day to clean the front of my apartment in every early morning and the rear every mid afternoon and in all that time mine has never once failed to get onto the dock although it is really slow and careful on its approach, it crawls onto the dock so slowly compared to my old Roomba i7+. One thing is that I only use mine on carpets and have never used the mop. I have heard of some people having issues with docking and one suggestion I saw was that the wheels might still be a bit damp and slippery after mopping and so it couldn’t get enough traction to climb onto the dock. If you think that might be your problem then how about trying to sit the dock on a thin fabric mat that might dry the wheels off just a little bit in the seconds before it reaches the front of your dock? Hey Mr. Vacuum Wars, since you at least know someone's number over at Shark; can you please tell them to make a new version of the Ion P50? I don't like the stick design for cordless vacuums. It makes no sense. The Ion P50 had everything; maybe could have used a stronger motor, but was how all cordless vacuums should be designed.

I think this was a much better review than your previous videos on robot vacuums. I would like to point out some things that are half true. I myself own the first gen shark. I went through the same struggles with the map. The firmware has now finally fixed and when I moved remapping took 1 go. But the first gen still had its issues. But no go lines will never be added to the first gen model only to the 2nd generation. Don’t get me started on even getting the firmware updates it’s never automatic. Overall I agree with your evaluation. Just wanted to point out to anyone like me who has the first gen sorry but we will sadly we’ll never get that app feature. But we’ll have a big auto empty bucket. 🤣

i had problems with 2 gen shark, it would forget some parts of the house and stays cleaning close to the base until battery was low at the same time the shark always had problem finding the base or couldn't dock no matter how many times to the point that i had to dock it manually, but the problem was that some hidden sensors had some dust and finger prints but it was fixed by just cleaning all sensors with micro fiber cloth after cleaning the shark and now docks from one go and haven't forgotten half of the house.

Hello sir, love your review videos and your methods and presentation are the most helpful and informative I've seen on KZbin. Question: Neabot has a new model (the Q11) that looks really good on paper and price. Are you planning to do a video review on that particular model? I would love to see your unbiased opinion on it as I am still gathering information before I purchase my first ever robot vacuum. Thanks in advance!

I have two t8 aivi with the auto empty bin (and I have 4 cats) ... the first time the bot was clogged really bad but ever since I run them once a day (sometimes even more it my daughters makes a mess in the kitchen) I have no problem at all. The app is a bit disappointing but there is a really good integration with home assistant (not the original one but a custom one) so I use the app only to set or change no-go areas

I’ve had the s9+ for over a year. Run it every night. Not a single problem. It’s been absolutely amazing and reliable. Braava m6 not so much. I’ve had to mod the base for it just so it could reliably launch. Not to mention I had to replace the tubing and take it apart to do so. Though it’s very easy to disassemble.

Thanks for the video. You are the first on to mention Deebot Ozmo T8 clogging. I have no pets and after running the DEEBOT it clogged. (3 Months) I live in a 2 story condo. On this floor I have the DEEBOT T8 & a Neato 4 . I run both of them every day. what I find is the neato get more dirt then the DEEBOT. I empty The Neato once a week . The DEEBOT "when not Clogged" once every month 1/2 . and I never have had a bag more them 1/4 full . Now the DEEBOT tells me to empty the bag ALL THE TIME. Maybe the Neato is picking up all the dirt I don't know. Just my opinion thanks David

I bought a Shark on the basis of this video. It was nothing but trouble. Multiple false errors like dirty cliff sensors (the sensors were clean), hard to hook up to wifi, kept dropping wifi, 2 times it failed to empty the bin automatically. basically a problem every single time I used it. had it 4 days and took it back, shelled out for an i8+ on sale and am much happier.

@@101rotarypower Sample size of 1, but I can provide some info. Ive had the first gen Shark IQ/bin combo since November 2019, around 14 months now. It cleans around 1400 sq ft of hard floor and 100 sq ft of medium pile carpet on a daily schedule. It usually does two runs with a recharge in the middle. And each run has bin-emptying cycle in the middle (4 empties per day). Ive had zero mechanical issues so far. The only time Ive had to tend to it is when something gets stuck under it or it needs its sensors/filters/bin cleaned. Its kinda surpassed my expectations, especially because I got it at a lower than normal price due to a website error. Now the issues: the auto empty mechanism will sometimes not start on the first try. Itll sound like it starts up the suction motor then cuts power. It always retries after a few seconds and has never failed to empty on the second try. Its random, happens maybe twice a month, and I have no idea what to make of it. The mapping isnt the best. Its got an accurate map of my floor, but sometimes it might miss a niche here and there. It also forgets to follow zones sometimes (goes and cleans other rooms instead of sticking to one). Again, happens randomly, but 95% of the time its doing a full floor run anyway. I expect the 2nd gen tweaks to help greatly with the mapping issues. I wasn't aware of the updates until this video. I'd definitely recommend it IF Shark doesnt skimp on replacement parts

@@ankurpandya3912 Extremely helpful, THANK YOU! First review of this brand for me I feel has the type of in-depth details I am looking for. Is there a good place you know of that has user feedback like this on these possibly? As well as people helping to user support the machine and solve common problems and grips? Replacement parts and durability are very high on my list, I also want it to clean the entire surface and not trap itself inside geometry it can easily get into but not out of, but I assume this is a "old issue" from past bots at this point? Very interested in how the battery performs over the life of the device. as well as what happens when a part is needed, I can fabricate, but that is not always possible or feasible and for common wear parts that Shouldn't be a EOL issue. Everything advertise it won’t do other than when it reaches the dock or me having to put it back because it dead it will self clean it self... about the only feature that works. I tried to be patient and customer service “helped” but never worked. A year later and I’m stuck with it... every once in a while it will clean every room but that’s rare.

@@joesperformance9378 wow totally different experience with the Shark IQ here. We have 4 dogs, so we have 1 on each of our floors (3). They’ve been an absolute godsend, they are not as fast at navigating around as some of the higher end bots but it does an absolutely fantastic job with pet and human hair. It’s also managed to keep all my floors granule/dust free as we run it daily. I have noticed on one of my units the runtime has significantly decreased tho, but it still gets 60 mins (compared to 90-100 mins on my other units) before it’ll go back and dock itself. The updates has since made mapping done in single runs, I haven’t had any issues with the robot unable to self return to its charging base either. IMO the money you save on bags alone is worth the extra 5-10 mins it takes to do a cleaning run over a more expensive bagged bin robot.
