I have a large 3 level house with mostly hardwood, some carpet, and some tile. I have a robot vacuum on each floor. All of my purchases were guided by your videos.. and they are were all spot on... thank you for your level of dedication. My latest robot is this one (N8 Pro Plus) based on this review. I have had it for a few weeks and it is absolutely awesome. I thought I wanted a vslam vac but I must say, the laser system coupled with lidar on this vacuum is second to none. It is brilliant. IF it had the double roller brush like the roombas, and a little bigger battery, it would be the best vacuum made, in my opinion.

Thankyou for mentioning the ' Bin Not Emptying ' problem, i had the same thing, if i set tmy T8 AIVI to STRONG suction (even with a daily use) it would pick up so much pet hair that it wouldnt empty. The Cat fur would seem to 'felt' itself in the Bin. The retailer even replaced the Bot to solve the prob to no avail. However NORMAL suction ( daily use) would work 99% of the time. Another prob that revealed itself was that the suction from both holes on the Bin was too even, so that the felted fur would stay in the middle of the bin unable to "decide" which hole to evacuate from . It's a shame soo many good auto empty bins are sticking with a bag option instead of a non bag bin given bags are simply further purchases by the customer and require support from the vacuum company down the line. I hope consumers stick with the no bin options more and more to help vacuum makers in their decision as to which business model to move forward with.

While I get where you are coming from and used to feel the same way I now disagree. I have both the Roomba i7 and shark with a base. I have a husky so LOTS of hair and dander, I need to clean the shark bin and change all but the HEPA filter weekly in the shark. That's 3 filters to clean a week. The bagged i7 just needs the vacuum filter changed. I only will buy bagged models going forward.

One interesting thing I've seen with several robot vacuums is that if the two charging pins get shorted together the robot can factory reset. My life A7 completely factory resets losing all schedules, wifi access and maintenance counters. My neabot loses it map, schedules, and counters as well. I only found out about this flaw because I have a coffee table which has legs connected on the floor using a larger flat I shaped support which is easy for a robot vacuum to roll over at which point the charging contacts can short to each other. It's a very interesting and what seems to be a common design flaw.

For the past year or so I've been looking at purchasing a robot vacuum for the first time and possibly also a mop. I've looked at a lot of reviews over the past year on many difference vacuums and this seems to check off most of the features I've been waiting for. Most notably is something that won't suck up all my kids things with the front facing lasers. I'm curious how it would do against puzzle pieces. Thanks for your fantastic videos! I do have a question... Is the battery replaceable? If so, do you think I could replace it with the larger one from the T8?

NIce review....One important detail that most don;t talk about is that if you are going to use the mop feature, the base must be housed on a tile of wood floor. In other words, if you put the docking station on a carpet and you want to mop your wood or tile floor, it will become stuck. The mop pad will contact the carpet and stop it from moving forward. This is a huge issue. Other robots have the mop pad lift up while it goes on carpet to travers to the next zone or to recharge. I hope EcoVac acknowledges this.

It is still a camera but since it just has to interpret the two line lasers it is way less computational intense. It is basic math. This is actually a 3d sensor that circumvents some patents, pretty smart imo.

Another great video, really great job! I'm debating between buying the sharq iq xl with a irobot m6, or just going with the ecovac t8 plus. Is there a difference in mopping quality between them, and the is the shark iq comparible to the t8 plus for. Vacuum quality. There on sale right now so the shark and m6 would be the same price as the t8. What would you buy, main floor is all wood and tile with a few carpets and small transitions? Appears the object avoidance system is very similar to what AEG/Electrolux use for their robot vacs for the last few years.

The hair clogs are caused by the hair clump coagulating into one mass and the bin trying to pull it apart by sucking it from two ports simultaneously. This causes the the clump to stay in place, since it's being tugged in opposite directions, and the pulling force trying to get into one of the ports is countered by the pull in the opposite direction. So the N8's bin being "better" has to be a coincidence, as the causal factor is still present. The Neabot's bin has one port about the size of the Ecovacs ports, and it does much better with pet hair clumbs, though worse with other debris types.

I have two cats and have not experienced bin empty issues either. Wondering if the base has a more powerful motor. Maybe you can do a CFM test on the Base. I agree the laser avoidance system is superior to camera based detection as it does not care what it is, but avoids anything and everything in it's was. Thank you for your review. Hope you can test the CFM on the base unit.

The pro mopping attachment takes the mopping from ok to very good from what I’ve found on my T8. Ran the standard mop for around a month before getting the pro mop. Removes the dog law prints in one pass now where it wouldn’t before. Downside is that it is quite noisy with the pro mop running and it looks like it tries to shake the T8 to bits but for the once a week I run it, I give it a high score overall. I work from home and I get the unit to vacuum every day and this does not interfere with my work at all, but I only run the mop on the weekend as it would drive me nuts trying to work with it running.

@@zenithstar11 anything that is connected to a cloud, which means a remote server, can theoretically send whatever data to it and you'd be none the wiser. If these smart robot vacuums require an internet connection to function, they then probably rely on the cloud. I wouldn't care so much if my vacuum doesn't have a camera, but I would if it has a camera because that video stream could be sent to the cloud and who knows who could be watching those video clips. Personally I like to keep everything local as much as possible and block my IoT devices from the internet to keep my privacy secure. But that's not all. If IoT devices don't rely on the cloud and can function just fine locally, then I won't have to worry about outages caused by remote servers that keep me from using my devices, and I won't have to worry about having to pay fees that these companies impose. ITTT did this exact thing as I recall and people's smart functionality stopped working if they didn't start paying for a subscription.

I've always been skeptical if robot vacuums actually work, they just seem to small to do any deep cleaning and they look like their only meant to do very light jobs sort of like the handheld w1. But with every new review they are starting to look cooler and cooler! 👍

They're fantastic from a maintenance perspective. It isn't a replacement, but it sure does dramatically reduce how often I have to break out the real vacuum (from weekly to once every few months)

Came here to say that I bought one of these N8 Pro pluses based on this review, and either there's something wrong with mine which support won't acknowledge or do anything about or it's just not that great. First and foremost, the obstacle avoidance is terrible. Yes it recognizes things that are directly in front of it, but all mine does is slow down almost to a stop but it still bumps into whatever is there. If the object happens to land in a spot that is not directly in front of it, it will plow right over it. It also really seems to struggle with my area rugs and has done a really nice job of shredding the edge banding, especially the corners. I have to go around and pick up all the small area rugs because it pushes them or rolls up the corners and it gets stuck. At this point I may as well just vacuum myself! Their 30 day return policy is a total joke especially considering that they sat on my support ticket for 3 days which caused me to go over 30 days and they of course won't do anything about it, so I'm SOL with a $450 robot that is MEH at best.

I've never seen anyone talk about this before - why do ecovacs put those black rubber flaps on the brush roll cover at the front of the brush roll? I have a T8 and it couldn't pick up small hard kibble on my hardwood floors. would just spit them out. I took a blade to the rubber flaps, cut them off and now this thing is a beast - sucks them up without any sort of problem. it was like the kibble was too large (even though it was pea sized), but too light in weight - so the flap just pushed the pieces out of the way instead of into the vacuum.

I've just moved to Canada and saw Roborock isn't being sold here at all. Looks like some people behind curtains don't want people use Roborock here. Anyway, I ordered N8 Pro+ during the sales but there is a point I didn't understand clearly. Before that we used to have S5 Max and totally satisfied. As far as I read, Ecovacs' model avoid carpets while vacuuming and mopping at the same time and we have a real big carpet in the salon. What to do? I'd like to use vacuum and mop options together always.

Think I got a dud? I had a large black shoestring on a light colored tile floor and it runs it over every time, often getting stuck in the wheels. Any other recommendations? I think this is the only one with laser obstacle avoidance. LIked the idea of running it at night but I don't trust it now :D.

So something I've noticed about your reviews is that they are missing LONGEVITY reviews and EXTRA FUNCTIONS... like the Dyson stick having the capability to be used as a small handheld on couches or in drawers. You might include the latter in your full review but when doing a compilation those features are missing. The whole point of watching a compilation for me is to see what vacuum out of 10 or 15 I like best without having to go watch each individual video that might not even show the review features im looking for. Longevity is a huge consideration. The Dyson v8 has tons of reviews on Costco that say that there was only a 2 year warranty and batteries died right around that point. They cost 130.00 to replace.... that's a big deal. I was sold on buying one until I saw those reviews. I just want a great stick vacuum that has versatile handheld options. Just constructive criticism.

On the subject of price, one thing I noticed is that Best Buy which has the N8+ listed for $599.99 which would have been $100 less than the T8+ s full retail of $699.99 when I bought it, but when Best Buy listed the N8+ for sale on their site, Best Buy raised the full price of the T8+ from $699.99 to $749.99. Which since I work in marketing I understand why they did it. But still. It’s a great vacuum but not worth $802.49 (price included Florida state and local sales tax). For that might at well got for the S9.

I was hoping for the review of the new Deebot T9, given its surprising suction power of 3000 Pa it seems promising, and maybe compare it to the Roborock S7

Based on the previous experience with 3 robotic vacuum (620, 360S6, T8 AIVI), I will say the two roller on T9 may be the most attractive feature compared to T8 rather than 3000Pa (the hair tangling is annoying since that it requires maintenance on a allergen-packed device). The 24cfm airflow with 1500Pa vacuum is powerful enough for the hard floor and low pile carpets; and I like OZMO on my T8 which essentially reduce my mopping work to dinning room/kitchen where annoying sticky/oily stuff cannot be clean by OZMO rocking mechanism.

Every day? Hell I have to run my Deebot T8+ 3 times a day to prevent clogging and it still fails to empty 1-3 times a week. The dual empty ports basically stretch the hair across both ports instead of it just sucking out of a single hole
