If you colour in small circles instead of filling in space with "lines" the streaking often disappears if there are any!

This tip helped me a lot. Another great one is that it is similar to watercolor washes in that you can't. let. it. dry. if you color an area or it will get streaky.

you can also keep the color consistency by layering over eith the same color. it rids of the streakiness pretty well, but makes it a tad darker, which is closer to the intended color

to have a better blending with different families color you could use the nib to nib method where you just make contact beteween two markers nib and then blend (the lightest one will be the one with more "effect") don't be afraid to get the nib dirty it will all pass just coloring, also the alchool based markers will never destroy your paper because they tend to expand in the paper so the only true deal is keeping an eye to don't get the paper too wet but it will rearely happen to be honest, also when a marker "dies" try to make it lie upside down with the nib you want to use facing down so the remaining ink will flow, it won't last that much but always good to end a drawing, so just layer the same color on the same part because it won't ripp the paper off or expand over the border (to make it ecpand you will need way more ink on the paper) so you'l sure get a non stricky coloring, also once it almost dried you can pass again to get a darker shade of that color so you don'have to use another shade, to blend without the nib to nib thing you can always follow this order : 1 put the colors(we'll name em 1 and 2); 2 make the color 1 color the 2 an viceversa; 3 make the color 1 recolor his part and a bit of the part that covered of the color 2( also the part that the 2 overcame) and do the same with the two; then take the lightes one of the couple of color and generally recolor the blended zone and a bit of its own part if it is too much colored with the other. And lastly use a thick paper and don't trust winsor and newton marker paper (actually just see if it's good for the things you gotta do) but generally there are cheaper and a bit better marker paper. zLunk You can also use normal office paper!! If you don’t want to use thick paper because of ink consumption, you can still use office paper too. Although, it requires a bit more of a fast technique for blending colors and there’s bleeding too(you can put scrap paper underneath). But it’s cheaper than using thicker paper.

I like alcohol markers since I found the best alcohol marker paper... and I cant miss the brush nip. Luckily here in EU we have brands with brush nips like copics for a good price. Would love to see you work more with markers. :3

I use "Perfect Colouring Paper" from HOLTZ / transotype And I love my stylefile marker. They are not as expensive as copics. At least... here in Germany. :3 But copic has more colours.

Okay some marker knowledge for you 🐸 - Colourless Blenders are not used for blending the colours, it's used to remove marker when you come out the lines. Doesn't remove it fully, but it works. If you were to blend it with said blender, you will remove the colour and dull it down. I usually use this marker to brighten up the light which is hitting a dark surface. - Use the markers in a circular motion, I use the chisel nib bc I'm lazy, so that you get a smooth colour. - For better blending, lay down the shading first then go over it with your base colour (basically work backwards). Flat colour -> shading still works well, however. - Use CG9/WG9 for black!

Copic are expensive at the start, but with the marker you get refills and u can replace every part. Copics hold up the test of use and time and blend better then any other. I decided to go in slowly over 2 years and now have a large collection. They are well worth it.

Something I learned about using alcohol markers is that if you don't want to make your art look streaky, you colour it in a circular motion and slowly. :-) Hope this helps! Keep up the good work Kasey 💖

Alcohol markers won’t destroy the paper (unless it’s printer paper) because they aren’t water based. So you don’t have to be afraid of blending XP

A Colorless blender isn’t for blending two colors together!!! They are mostly used to remove ink from the paper when you colored over the lines! It seemed that you didn’t know this. :3

The reason it's streaky is because you're using them like watercolor/posca pens. You shouldn't pick up your marker until the space is filled in, and you shouldn't outline around the ink before filling in. Another thing is to use them more - though I know markers aren't your thing.

You seem to be naturally great at whatever medium you use. I have a tip, or at least a suggestion. Get a spare sheet of your paper and test it's limitations, you'll probably feel safer if you know how much it takes to ruin

I agree, brush tips are sooo much better. The thing about alcohol markers is that you have to be quick or it won’t blend as well. Or at least, that’s what I’ve noticed. Also layering can be weird too sometimes depending on the marker and the paper.

I've found that when blending you really just have switch between the two colors you are using. layering them, switching each time. Don't be afraid of layering!

So this is some advice and a little review of Ohuhu. If you do more than 1 layer it will not be so streaky. Ohuhu markers are a fan favorite in the art community because they are cheap and are relatively good to use. They are most of the time smooth and have really good colors but it isn't the best marker brand. It dries out really fast, my Ohuhu markers dried in about 6 months, and also they are kinda hard to blend (from my personal experience) but they are still relatively good for beginners and other people that just want to draw a bit. Also, WHAT THE HECC???? THEY CHANGED THE STYLE??? where are my names at ;^; (yes, Ohuhu markers used to have weird and lovely names, and I loved them)

For better blending you go lightest color then your shading color, then when it’s still wet go immediately go back in with the lighter color from before. Do not worry! Your markers will be fine they will not get ruined or change color if they are alcohol based. If you go in a lot with it the color will be altered slightly for a few seconds but you can scribble on another piece of paper and it will come right out. This works for most all Markers even really lights to blacks.

I have this brand of markers called touch 5, they're not brush and they're pretty much the exact same as the ohuhu so what I do for blending is I just have a copic colourless blender, and it works pretty well, so I recommend that for blending

I don’t really know if someone mentioned this already but warning now COLORLESS BLENDERS DONT HELP BLEND TWO COLORS TOGETHER. It’s pretty much like a clear marker that’ll help dilute the colors so you can do cool white to color fades and that kind of thing. Idk why they named it that since it is kinda confusing but it won’t help blend 2 colors together. Layers help that

Wow a marker video from Kasey! About different brands of alcohol-based marker, I'd recommend the TOUCH Shinhan art brand. They have a brush nib and a chisel nib for the cost of 2.5 - 3 USD per marker (in my country).

The $5+ markers is more of a generalization, it’s kinda like saying all cars are $30,000+ because Tesla is around that price. I would recommend the Copic chao markers (around $3 individual on dickblick) and my personal favorite prismacolor premier brush markers ($3-2 individual and 3-1.50 ish in sets on dickblick)

In germany they cost 35,99Euro (36Euro) for the 60pack.My dad still bought them for me tho! :D I am just rlly rlly upset that i coldnt get the 80pack for only a Euro more.But i am actually still rlly exicted for the Ohuhu markers to arrive !!!

I've had a set of Ohuhu markers for a while, and I did enjoy them, but I did also notice they didn't like to blend very much- (edit: at least if they weren't one to to shades apart from the other) I recently bought the 168 set of TOUCHNEW markers off Amazon, and though the colors are lighter they blend much better imo. (They're about 60cents a marker if I remember correctly, with bullet and chisel nibs.) If you want to expand your collection a ludicrous amount I recommend them!
