I lived in both Phrom Phong (Soi 24) and Thong Lo (Soi 10). I’m more into Phrom Phong because it’s more convenient, it has the Benjasiri Park, and the 3 malls make a huge difference. But of you ask me what are the most exclusive, the most sophisticated places to live in Bangkok, I have no doubt to remind you of Langsuan road, Wireless Road, and Soi Somkid, all in Chidlom and Ploenchit areas.

Your ranking is fine, I guess. I've lived here 27 years and am happy you didn't include my neighborhood as I'd like to keep other foreigners out of here as much as possible and keep it off the radar. I've been in the same condo for 15 years and pay very little for a decent 1 bedroom. My area is accessible by BTS and is becoming pretty "bougie" among Thais with lot of new and trendy condos, restaurants, bars and shopping places. Yet, it's still cheap compared to many other areas. When lots of foreigners move in, it drives up prices and annoys the locals.

Asok is definitely at least an A-tier location, being the only BTS station with direct access to both the MRT and the Airport Rail Link. If you’re planning to move here, I’d recommend avoiding the Phra Khanong BTS area. It’s often referred to as the ‘farang slums’ by both low-earning foreigners and locals-not the best place for networking. You’re better off finding a reasonably priced place in a nicer neighborhood. I am a dog owner so unfortunately I do not have many choices when it comes to finding condos but have been living in Thailand since 2017 and I have frequented all of these places and lived in quite a few as well. Ari and Rama 9 are definitely underrated. Thonglo is nice but can feel a little “Asian heavy at times” but I definitely prefer the night life in thonglo vs anywhere else. (American black guy) silom also has some hidden but can be a bit on the hiso side too.

You skipped a number of neighborhoods. Are you including Bang Rak and Sathorn as part of Silom? What about On Nut or the Thonburi side of the river? Some of us no longer in our 20s or 30s are probably looking for something a little quieter than most of the neighborhoods listed. Ploenchit does have a new day/night market so there is some street food around.

If you plan to rent a house and own cars, the quiet eastern suburb Min Buri has many employed expats to socialize with, and street food options. It is north of the big airport. Bangkok is developing fast in the east direction. A second monorail heading to downtown is opening in about a year. However, if you want maximum restaurant and culture options, it is a bit far from downtown. If you don't want to own a car, consider On Nut or Rama 9. If you want to live within walking distance of the best expat hospital in Thailand, and be around people richer than yourself, a Thonglor condo is an option.
