The video "tutorial" portion specifically high lights the barber's intentions to do a fade. The barber just sucks at barbering. Perhaps he went to school to learn cosmetology, which is why he calls his shop a "salon". A barber is not allowed to call their shop a salon.

Thom Coe highly likely, cosmetologists/ hairdressers standards for a “blend” or “fade” is not to the same standard as a barbers 90% of the time. On the other hand their scissor work is fantastic in comparison to barbers. Either way this guy is doing very well for himself and good on him! Looks like he is making decent money, especially for someone in this industry.
