One of my favorites hunts are the explorer kit shinies in D/P/Pl. Have an empty party, get at least 5 fossils, save in front of the fossil guy. Then hunt and do soft resets. I got an aerodactyl super quickly this way

I've been full odds hunting for about 2 years now, and only have a bit to show for it, but it truly is some of the most exhilarating ways to play pokemon out there. I think that the thing that gets modern players about it is just how long a hunt could take. The way I see it, the shiny has an 100% chance of appearing as long as you finish the hunt. Thinking about how long a hunt is taking, or how unlucky you are is something I, as well as many other full odds hunters probably started, but one encounter can really change that. A day ago from this comment, I wrapped up my 33k sr shiny snivy in black version, and even though I was so down about it for 2 months, it was all worth it in the end. Great vid man.

I love that! I’ve been doing something similar, focusing on the excitement that the shiny could appear on the next encounter. Another encounter, another chance Also congrats on the Snivy!! My favorite shiny of the Unova starters

I loved shiny hunting in my fire red/leaf green games. From the purchasable Magikarp (which came under 100 resets!), gift eevee and the Hypno on the Sevii islands, it had a good variety of ways to get shinies other than just random encounter. I'll always be devestated that I had to sell the majority of my childhood possessions to cover bills, i'll always have fond memories of my full odd hunts

HGSS is a great game to play for a first full odds shiny hunt. Start with the starters, then gamecorner abra, Sudowoodo soft reset, and by the 4th gym you already have three.

hgss chikorita was actually my first successful hunt starting a badge quest in HG this week, it's such a comfy hunt to do on a treadmill. had 2 phases on shiny cyndaquil which i won't complain about!

I would totally recommend the Rayquaza hunt in Emerald! It was an important success for me, when I was going insane with my roaming Latias hunt

If you want a specific starter shiny just click on the directional pad, that's ideal for totodile or cyndaquil. And just press a if you want see chikorita. I wanted cyndaquil, so I just kept pressing left on the directional pad. SR until it was shiny. Hope this helped anyone. But it does take longer since your only looking at one at time then SR

My personal favourite legendary hunt, and my first shiny legendary, is celebi from the crystal VC. The encounters are pretty quick, and the shiny is gorgeous and interesting. I love it

I frogot how I got into shiny hunting. I think it started with chain fishing in xy and oras then I found out legendaries could be soft reseted and I saw videos online of people doing it and stuff. But it was so hard to believe it could be me. Well one day I said ok I’ll do it and I won’t give up this time. I frogot how long it took but eventually I got my first shiny legendary a shiny regigigas. After that I was so hooked. I shiny hunted every legendary I could after that and chatching them. Which continued into ultra moon where I did the same but that shiny yvetal took me a year to get. I was super unlucky but I would not quit. Eventually I got it felt unreal especially sense xy was my first modern pokemon game. So I was very found of those gens legendaries. I also remember my whole team getting mauled by a shiny terrakian because I couldent attack it any more but I also ran out of potions even though I stocked up on revives and potions. Sadly those files are long gone but I still own the original cartridges I did all of it on. Except my Ora’s because idk where it went had to buy an alpha sapphire to play through again but I still have my og x game but it’s not the og save or anything and I have my og ultra moon but again the og save with all the hunts has been long gone. But I still have the og cartridges so it still feels good remembering poping them in after school

My shiny hunting adventure started by me attempting speed runs in leafgreen with bulbasaur. Proceeded to hunt the bird trio, got moltres and articuno, and failed zapdos running out of balls with about 60 balls pre fight

While I’ve found a handful of 1/8192 Shinies before, there’s only 2 I actually have gone out of my way to hunt for. Litwick in Black 2, and Celebi in Crystal. I’ve been considering hunting for all of the available Legendaries in Black 2, and I’m also currently getting things set up to hunt for Deoxys in LeafGreen.

To add a little more as why you should just do random encounters is that you can do that while EV trainning, I found a shiny Pidgy and Weedle while EV trainning my Shiny Lugia in Viridian Forest. Also you could get extra lucky and fight a wild pokemon with Pokerus.

My one (and only) shiny hunt was ho oh in gold (on the 3ds). It took me three years of on and off dedication so probably only like 24hrs overall. I am never shiny hunting again im letting them surprise me now

Can't soft reset in emerald, but you can find shiny pokemon in the wild. Just gotta learn what to avoid doing and how the seed works.

Just finished my 1st ever full odds hg SR for totodile, and it was the 1st i got after 2649 encounters 😭 was so happy only took 15-20 hours. Going for oshawott, charmander and treecko next. Guess im a full odds hunter now lol

@shinycollector7 thank you! I did one of the worst ones (ultra sun/moon) after totodile and got super lucky with rowlet at 1372 encounters..I'm never doin gen 7 resets again lol took me like 50-80 hours 😭

I’ve never hunted the Gen 7 starters, but did complete 3 roamer hunts. Those were tedious at times, entertaining at others with getting the Pokémon onto the same route

I would also include the starter hunt in ruby and sapphire as they are as fast as random encounters in gen 3, about 3 to 4 a minute So you'll reach 1000 SRs in under 6 hours The only downside is that you need a working RTC battery two generate different initial seeds every reset

Gold and silver crystal VC 😂 Chikorita was so rewarding but not beginner friendly Then i did the odd egg which was easy peasy and FUN. Because I only hatched 10 eggs (1/64?) And got a different baby Pokémon everytime not knowing which would be the shiny. Just didn't want Tyrogue. Bittersweet. Got the green eyed igglybuff line BUT that'll be very special to tranfer to my SV games 😊 Sudowoodo im doing now. It's easy to get 2 encounters a minute or even 3. No luck crazily. RNG is a bitch.

Odd egg is not 1/64. Odd egg is 14% chance to be shiny, so more than 1/8 odd eggs will be shiny.

I've only done 5 hunts previously, all under odds and two of them just ridiculous. Evee in Leaf green at 272, and dratini in fire red at 148. I guess this is just the games making up for that ahaha. Congratulations on Zapdos, for Rayquaza I personally like emerald better because it Is one of the only Run-away legendary hunts. Also, I like the atmosphere of sky pillar better

Not to be that guy but you meant to say the odds are higher not lower The shiny odds where doubled in gen 6 from 1/8192 to 1/4096 Since 1/4096 is a larger number that makes it an increased chance Other than that this list is pretty much in the mark My first shiny hunt was the HGSS starters and I got a shiny totodile in about 2 hours
