I'm 74 with a decade of surfing and 35 years of snowboarding under my belt. I'm about to buy my first board. My daughter thinks I'm nuts but I think she's wrong. I'll be wearing my dirt bike motorcycle armor on day one! I got this! Thanks for helping me choose the right board. I'll be buying a quality board as you suggested. It's the only advantage of starting at my age. I can afford any damn board I want!

Maintaining and improving your balance skills is vital as you get older so I think it's a great idea. Myself picking up skateboarding again after 35 years.. It's going fine and is so much fun. Just make sure to wear protective clothes and gear. There's also special underwear with padding to protect against hip fracture etc. Enjoy!

😂I skateboarded 25yo and I just got my first longboard. My husband gave me a high quality longboard a Landyachtz Drop Cat Vibes 38" Drop.. totally feels different but 😮I’m totally optimistic. I’m not looking at going downhill, or sliding but to commute around on base, since my husband is now stationed overseas, and with one vehicle it’s a juggle. Plus the base here has paths that are longboard friendly. I have my helmet and wrist guard. I do need to get myself some kneepads and elbow pads.

Awesome video! Very informative. Wish my old eyes could read the white text on the screen easier. I just bought a 40” drop thru drop down complete - for cruising. I last skated some 25+ years ago, so I’m back to more of a beginner level. The board doesn’t turn much - which is great for stability - so I’ll need to learn tail slides. Landyachtz makes a 38” version of the Drop Cat - which I might upgrade to after a while. Landyachtz advertises an “ATV” board - which is supposed to “do everything”. What are your thoughts on those? Guessing they’ll be ok at most things, but not really great at any one thing - which might suit my various skating.
@downhill254skate3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Glad you like the video, sorry about the white text, I improved the videos I made after this. You can always check the indpeth writeup, it has the exact same content (link in the description). . The ATV is a great board. Would be great for doing and learning tricks, but also for cruising around. The Drop Cat will be excellt for just pushing and cruising around too. I'd recommend it if you're not interested in oing any flip tricks

Drop Hammer is amazing! Not as easy to push as the Drop Cat but it is far more comfortable! I'd pick the Drop Hammer over the Drop Cat in hindsight. @@downhill254skate I did a little more research and found out the same thing. I decided that I wanted a longboard that I will be using for the next several years and I happen to know someone who has been longboarding for quite a while. He introduced to this brand called Lynatchz, I did some research on the brand and I herd that they make some really good longboards with quality components. Now I'm having a toss-up between the Drop Hammer 36.5" with the pinecone deck and the Drop cat seeker 33" Which one do you think I should get? Bare in mind I have no experience with good longboards, I bought $40 boards from Academy in the past and they were horrible 😂 My ankle hert after riding them and they were so difficult to push. Hopefully this will not be the same experience 😭 I apologize for my really long essay

Is there a big difference between this 33" and another of 35 or 38?
@pinkfiffty30943 жыл бұрын
Big difference as far as?(size/portability or stability?) I think overall size is a preferance go to a local skate/surf shop that has longboards stand on a couple and see what feels comfortable, and just have in mind what your needs are like does it need to fit into a small space or not? Multiple boards the same length will feel different too dep2nding on how trucks are mounted and different shapes but gives u an idea of what your looking for. Hope that helps

So, what do I invest in, if I’d like something considerably easy to slide on and take a hill (nothing over 30mph), something with versatility (preferably with a kick tail), something I can still “vibe” on. I have the drop cat 33, which is an incredible vibing board that you can cruise around with, but because of the small standing platform of a drop through it doesn’t do too well cutting corners at higher speeds, it’s great for bobing and weaving between people, but for cutting corners at higher speeds I notice I have to cut very wide. Anyway, I’d just like something very versatile that I can learn to slide on that can also be used for cruising around, I was thinking either a dipper/ripper or rally cat, both from landyatchz. Your help is as always, much appreciated :) also, I’d rather not go over 200$
@downhill254skate3 жыл бұрын
You can learn to slide on the Drop Cat 33! Just buy some Ez Hawgs, Snakes, or Remember Hoots and you're good to go. But about the highspeed corner thing, it might be like that with all boards. It's not easy to cut corners super aggressively at high speeds otherwise you risk highsiding or washing out. Also, if you want to make your drop cat more stable, buy the 40* baseplates for the gen 6 trucks for it and aftermarket bushings. Makes a huge difference in ride and stability. . My friend rides and learnt to slide on the ripper! It's a super fun board. Fits your description for what you want exactly. Check it out here - stokedrideshop.com/collections/landyachtz/products/landyachtz-ripper-complete-watercolor?ref=llsdh3csi531 And if you ever want to make it more stable, you can get aftermarket bushings and wedges. But i tshould be great how it is
