Bought a KP3 few months ago. Took it straight outta the box and played a whole day. Worked like a champ and still does. One of the straightest shots ive ever had tbh. Not to mention i tried it out with my spire for kicks and gigs. I was surprised at how well it fed with my KP3 compared to my Primo. Food for thought

Agreed. I own 3 Sl-68 II (original factory run) with Freak bored barrels that I use and loan out when someone wants to try pump. There are no entry level pumps made anymore and most of the used pumps you can find (PMI Trracer/ACI Hornet, Brass Eagle TigerShark) require some modification before they can work really well with modern small diameter paint.

What stuff should I know about paint balling and paint ball markers before I start to play and own one?

It doesn't matter what equipment you use as long as its comfortable and shoots paint reliably at 280 fps. Don't worry about not having the best equipment and if you ever need help on the field or if you are having problems with your equipment, most of the regulars will gladly help fix it. As for equipment: buy the best mask you can afford (a good mask makes a huge difference, it won't fog, it'll be infinitely more comfortable than a rental mask, and it make you look like you know what you're doing) then buy a tank, hopper, marker. When you buy your tank and hopper, make sure to get the nicest ones you can afford. Even if that means you only have enough money for a tippmann cronus or 98. Its better to have a rental marker with a good tank and hopper, than a $1500 gun with a gravity hopper and co2 If you have any questions, just ask and Ill do my best to answer.

I'm sure you figured it out 5 years later, but for other readers, @Asraven PB is right about equipment and helpful players. I will also add that I feel it is easier to start in a non-speedball setting. There is more room to move, you can hold back and watch how other players act and you have a much better chance of surprising a skilled player, simply because there is a lot more field to run around in and flank. In my opinion the best games to start in are; - Private group at a paintball field. Your group can decide what to do and how to play. - Private group on Private land. These can be the BEST experiences (I have a private group I play with) but you can also have a private field run by idiots and unlike commercial fields run by idiots (I've been to more than a few) there are no financial or legal consequences for running unsafe games. - Big scenario games. It seems counter-intuitive, but my point about having more room to maneuver really comes in when they open all fields at once.

Ive played paintball since around 1990, (check my BF1 commentary vids on my channel btw, not paintball but hey its an FPS!), and I did play with pump guns back then, but I remember taking a beginner piranha gun and upgrading it into a gun I was able to practice with Edmonton Impact with, in 2005-06. I added a barrel kit, Dye grips, new air tank, electronic hopper, new air line / regulator ...by the time Iwas done that $200 gun was as good as a $1000 gun lol...

Undr was small, but are growing in popularity. Markers have things such as alien, which I've heard good things about. Even planet eclipse was a small company at one time, so there are good smaller paintball companies out there.

That one Guy I would personally try playing different types of both. I have played both and I prefer paintball but that is personal preference. There are different variations of both paintball and airsoft. For example there is speedsoft which is typically cqb indoors and there are more scenario type outdoor games. They also have airsoft milsims which are more immersive (and can also be expensive). As for paintball there is speedball with inflatable bunkers that is fast paced and there is woods ball. I would try playing the different variations to find out what you like best if you have different fields near you. Hope this helps.

theyre complicated, have lots of parts, they have to be tuned perfectly, theyre closed bolt (you need to underbore or you'll get roll outs). However, they are fun, theyre the most customizable paintball markers ever, they can be pumps, mech, or electros, you can find parts for them everywhere, and using a cocker on the field will help you earn the respect of other players

stock class is one of the most difficult types of play in paintball. The only thing that might be harder would be using an airowgun (paintball bow). Phantoms typically have a stiffer pump stroke than stacked tube pumps, but that is pretty much the only disadvantage

What about the hammer 7 only $60 for a brand new one. Decent barrel. Very easy to take apart and Maintain with great durability. Plus It's convertible from center feed to mag fed in about a minute. I dont think. Im not a fan of the cheap electronic guns, I would say get a Tippmann or save a get the Proto Rize. Hopper is good, also would not get the First Strike tanks, look at the Ninja or Empire ones that are much more reliable.

Jack 13 Empire axe original or 2.0 Axe 1.0: 300$ used on eBay still a quality gun with button bolt removal on off asa and can compete with high end markers easily Axe 2.0 : Around 420 on eBay or anywhere else for that matter mostly the same better foregrip and a better barrel (2 piece) different bolt removal but both are super simple. the laser eyes are also much easier to clean. But I've owned my original axe for 3 months now and never chopped a ball... Everything else is pretty much the same. It really depends on if you wanna buy a barrell aftermarket or not. I want to so the 2.0 doesn't offer that much more for me. but if you just want to buy a marker and just play and don't care about 420$ the 2.0 is better but not by much. there is also the axe pro to look at but it's like 720$ but it comes with a oled board and a foregrip on it.

an proto PM series markers can be found for under $300, same goes for many of the older egos. a used proto reflex rail usually goes for around $200-$250. Upgraded Shocker NXTs usually go for around the same price, but they require a lot of maintenance and care

if you have an on/off asa: turn off the airflow to the marker then grip it by the regulator and unscrew it slowly if you don't have an on/off asa: grip the tank by the regulator and slowly unscrew the tank from the asa while dry firing. This helps take pressure off of the threads of the tank and is less likely to damage them

Kristjon Pedersen its hard to explain but bare with me. Phantom and revolution are 2 seperate series. In te revolution, you have the normal pump, hitman (which is taking off the pump handle) and semi. Phantom, different series amd there some different models, phantom is just normal pump, no hitman or semi, the airtank is placed differently on each model.

Yes and no. The Sniper is a great deal, it has many features that are normally on the high-end pumps like CCM guns. The KP3 is also a great deal, but mainly because it is less expensive.

If you want to get into pump, buy a good used cocker. If you don't like playing pump, you can resell it and not be at a loss, unlike work a new marker

ian alford If you want cheap get a Tippmann 98 custom with the matte black finish (better internals) I find them on Craigslist all the time. Etha 2's are awesome electropneumatics, but those are still like $400
