This is not only useful for people who want to get the most out of old belts, but for wheelchair users as well! As a wheelchair user, I never get to wear my favorite belts because they either dig into my back or my seat rest (and those things are EXPENSIVE), but I’ll definitely try this! Dont use these on firmer belts that you dont want creases in, though lol

Except the stitches holding on the belt loops probably aren't sized to hold the actual tension force in the belt. They usually just guide the belt, not act as an anchor point. So expect holes in your pants or torn stitches at the two belt loops where the belt U-turns.

i’m not sure how quickly that would happen. i feel like it would take a while with most pants but idk and if that happens then you can periodically sew or patch up the pants. or people who can afford it can buy pants more often. or maybe just buy cheaper pants it may not be a perfect solution but it may be worth it to try to find a way to make this work for some people if it would be more comfortable for them, as opposed to having the belt go all the way around their waist, constricting their waist even more than the pants already do

Hopefully your belt loops can handle the force being put on them! Could always grab a cheap belt from a thrift store! Until you find something you like to buy. I found it's just easier to buy a ratcheting belt system, so can always find the perfect fit with however thick or thin your pants/shorts are. So always have a snug fit between those inch sections on a normal belt!

I'm an auto tech. I do this but on the back loops with the buckle on the inside and tuck it behind the other end of the belt. I do this to prevent scratching cars. I own a couple of mechanics belts but they just don't stay tight enough for my liking.

the belt loops are there to hold the belt in place, they are not designed to have stress applied to them. over time they will rip, likely making a hole in your pants at the same time.

Plus even if it did slide more I'd rather adjust a belt every once in a while than have to hold my pants up 100% of the time. It's obviously just a fix to get you by until you get a new belt.

Really not that useful. Belt loops keep the belt from riding up or down depending on your shape. He put part of it through the loops, and what he didn't will shift with every movement

okay well, here’s a potential simple trick: if you can’t sleep, it might be because you’re not cold enough. A lot of people radiate heat from their back, so having something cool on your back/sleeping on your side with your back uncovered could make you fall asleep a lot easier. I used to take hours every night to fall asleep, with this I can fall asleep sometimes in a few minutes.

If you're fat, the gap between standard sizes can be large enough that you can end up in an unfortunate situation where the pants are either too tight or too large. Same thing for belts. Past a certain size, it's hard to find belts that fit you perfectly.

It's not a good idea to cause stress to those 2 belt loops, you're just going to damage those instead of buying a $15 belt. Those pants probably cost more than a new belt I would guess.
