I must admit to coveting the Esker Lorax Ti. What a looker! I purchased an Esker Japhy frame this year and had it built up by my local shop...just awesome.

I’ve got to plug the Solace Cycles OM-2P with a pinion gearbox. I rode the GDMBR on it this summer and it was fantastic. Absolutely the perfect bike for a long trip like that.

Black Mountain Cycles, La Cabra. Drop-bar, compliant steel tubeset, assembled with hand built wheels by Mike Varley. (he has been in the bike industry since the 1980's). Happy trails in 2024☮

I picked up a Brodie Elan Vital 2.0 this year - A steel framed drop bar ATB. It was great in the summer, and now it's just cruising in the snow through the winter. I'd love to see your take on it. I'd also love to see a Panorama Boreal Pinion

It’s frustrating to see no affordable bikes here. These hipster brands and Gucci hand made bikes are all well and good, but most of us will buy a Marin, Genesis or Sonder in the UK.
@mattsmith2015Ай бұрын
In fairness this is a 'best of' award so it's logical that the list is mostly higher end bikes. Perhaps next time they can include a best value category, but the Chisel would have won that award anyways.
@stevekelly6544Ай бұрын
Really? I’d disagree- the stooge frame set is totally affordable-the Chisel isn’t really high end either…
@biihbitoodniihatathlie5776Ай бұрын
Just buy a surly
@mattsmith2015Ай бұрын
I was not trying to choose a best value bike. Just trying to show the op that not all the bikes were expensive high end bikes and that the Chisel was a good example of a moderate bike for moderate money.
@Brad-cb2dtАй бұрын
The best bike-packing bike is one you actually take bike-packing. Be it a Walmart bike, a Brompton, or a top-of-the-line tour-divide-ready steed. Just saddle up and get out there.
@K1989L2 күн бұрын
I had the Bridge club. It was great for everyday commuting and hauling. I just wish Surly would drop the stupid gnot-boost thing. The bridge club would be easier to ise with just 10x135 compatibility at the back. Also they shoud rise the stack.

I would put my 2023 ALR5 Trek against these bikes for bike packing. 21.5 lbs gravel bike with 45 x 700 29er wheel tire set up .... 2 x 11 gears and unbelievable geometry!! drop down handle bars and great components!! And hydraulic braking that is stellar!!

I had a 1997 from about 2013-2016. Several new bikes now, and they are all better in every way except cost. But I’d happily ride a singletrack again - just not so much on actual singletrack.
