What excellent tips on black paints. This is very helpful as I'm just now painting an entrance hall with a wide deep bespoke book-shelved alcove which I'd like black, but not ready as you say, to commit to full black. The deep charcoal option is ideal. Only one part of one side of the hall will be black, facing a wall of warm wood-toned concealed storage. Thank you.

Gorgeous, I love it, so does my 16 year old daughter, would you recommend it though for a bedroom facing North, I would only do it on the east wall which would be where her bed would be. Showstopper ??? Black satin. The rest thinking, Chantilly Lace, or Simply White? Unless you have a better idea 😂, love your style.

I love that idea! With north facing rooms I like to lean into the drama/moodiness. They'll never be bright and cheery so you're better off embracing a more moody design and just run with it. Both Chantilly Lace and Simply White can work but I would definitely test them both. Chantilly Lace may give you blue or even pink undertones (depending on how light hits it) white Simply White may read a bit warmer. I would get a couple of test samples from Hello Paint and Samplize and see what they read like, especially in corners as that's where undertones often pop the most.

Using a satin finish of BM Universal Black 2118-10 on ceiling beams. For visualizing paint colors throughout our remodel we have used inexpensive painting canvases 16”x20” in 5 packs from larger hobby/art stores like Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. All of our contractors and subs have asked about them!

Tried the wrought iron and it is very gray vs looking black. Could be because we have a lot of natural and artificial light.
