Update, I finished it. And wow... Umm. Writing? Competent. Wasn't expecting the heinous gore, sadism, torture, awfulness near the end. I know it was horror but damn. It ruin cottagecore, farmers markets, soaps, and cupcakes for me probably forever

Since you mentioned short story collections in the beginning I highly recommend Sparrow Hill Road by Seanan McGuire. I think it’s perfect for wayward children fans but so different. It deals with a crossroads hitchhiking ghost named Rose

I took you serious when you talked about the mind fuck series back in 2021😂😂 and I basically got as obsessed as you are. The old covers were so bad that it was hilarious. But I'm definitely buying that physical copy now cause it's stunning I also immediately added butcher & blackbird to my tbr

Many books on this list that I own yet still haven’t gotten to, in spite of being sure that I’m gonna love them (Ninth House, Emily Wilde, Silver Under Nightfall, Heartless). I also need to catch up on the Wayward Children series. I bought Butcher & Blackbird and Bloom on your recommendation and really want to get to them soon. Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher, The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty and Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake were a few of my absolute favorites of 2023. Obsessed with T. Kingfisher and definitely want to read more of her books this year!

There's a nonfiction called it came from the closet that's an anthology of queer authors talking about horror films/monsters as queer characters and I think you might like it. A real breakdown and analysis of horror films through a queer lens.

I loved Ninth House the year I read it, and Lost in the Moment and Found is easily my favorite of the prequels! Emily Wilde has been on so many people's favorites list, I'm hoping to finally reading it this year! My favorite book of 2023 was easily Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe
