My favourite books this year have been: The Will of the Many, The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi, Yumi & the Nightmare Painter, Master of Sorrows, Dark Matter, The Children of Gods and Fighting Men, The Hexologists, Bonesmith & The Human Target, Volume 1!

Some of my favorites: The Dragonbone Chair (Not my pick for best book in the series but I already feel so much nostalgic love for this world that I have to include it), The Will of the Many (lost and confused in a good way is a perfect way to describe it! Definitely agree), Light Bringer (Red Rising has become an all time favorite for me with book 5 and this one), Blood Over Bright Haven (first book by M.L. Wang that I read. Impressed me a lot), Gods of the Wyrdwood for me as well. That setting was incredible. Then I have 3 books from the Sun Eater series on this list. Books 2, 3 and 5. This is something truly special in the making. The final one would be Murtagh by Christopher Paolini. The Eragon books are what got me into fantasy as a kid and I loved reading about Alagaesia again. The Hexologists didn't make my favorites list but I had a ton of fun with it. I think it was your review that made me pick it up!

I'm reading the Hexologists next 🤞 I'm glad to read you thought it's a fun read, I need that.

I read both M.L. Wang books this year and can't decide which is my favourite one. I did not have a dull moment with Blood over Bright Haven and The Sword of Kaigen has a slow start but then it gets intense, definitely worth giving it a try if you are so inclined :D

Bancroft certainly can do no wrong! I read The Books of Babel this year and its one of my favorite series of all time! 😭🥰 I made sure to pick up The Hexologists and I recently finished that one as well. I'm so eager to get a sequel even though this first book just came out a few months ago 😅

Will be binging D. Dalglish's newest trilogy when book three comes out next year. I like to wait for a trilogy to be complete before I read it so I enjoy the full experience and remember stuff from book to book. Also have J. Islington's book and have pre-ordered B. Beaulieu's book from the Broken Binding. Oh, and I have Gods of the Wyrdwood too. So much to look forward to. I will be getting The Hexologist at some point (love that cover) and I've been dithering over getting The Adventures of Amina al-Serafi. My bookshelves are groaning but I am happy!! Happy holidays Holly. Thoroughly enjoy your channel. Cheers!

Both of these are 5s for me. It Rides a Pale Horse by Andy Marino was a top read for me. Its cosmic horror where the main's sister is kidnapped by a sinister brother and sister. If he wants her back, he must complete 3 sculptures in a necronomicon style book. Its super dark but also a little funny. And the stuff around the 2nd mystery pov is awesome and has Cabin in the Woods kind of vibes. Also Ymir by Rich Larson. It's an incredibly bleak sci fi retelling of Beowulf. The main character Yorick is broken, literally in that his lower jaw was blown off by his brother and metaphorically by all that family drama. He's sent back to his home planet to hunt and kill an alien weapon but that ends up just scratching the surface of what's going on. Its disorienting and features some skin crawling body horror.
