Great work!!!! Accurate from head to toe. One very important thing that was missed, the Sirui stretch factor changes as you focus. Which is the number one reason I don’t use them. Also, the viltrox has an oval aperture insert so wide open it cheats mroe anamorphic bokeh but once you start closing down you’ll start loosing that effect.

Thanks dude! Yeah I had a section in my notes about the Sirui stretch and somehow didn’t make the cut. Appreciate it man!

I've got the Sirui but very tempted by a Remus or 2. I don't use them for any 'work', just for personal/youtube stuff so I like the stylized look of the Remus.

Would you recommend the new af sirui anamorphic lens that came out? Also what's the difference from spherical lens and anamorphic? I wanna just do some photography with them, maybe some film in the future but I don't know. I just starting.

I would not recommend anamorphic lenses for photography

Well, structured video. I actually bought the A set of the Remus lenses a little over a month ago just days before going to Asia to shoot a documentary. I decided to test these out since the doc was dealing with older action stars where they “lived” in vintage anamorphic movies, and the character of these lenses seemed perfect for that. So far, I am absolutely loving them, even though I am shooting with a dinosaur Sony A7S2. Remus just came out with a B set, which I am on the fence about buying since the focal lengths are so close to the A, but they have a great 33 mm option, which I think will be a must own as well. Anyway, you gave some really good context with all of these andappreciated.
@kylemeshna3 ай бұрын
Apparently the B set is sharper than A as well. I definitely intend to pick up the 33 myself too
@theranchhand3 ай бұрын
@@kylemeshna Between my last comment and this one, I bought the B set! I still had a coupon bringing all three lenses to around $2100, so…. Went for the deal! But I will be getting that 33mm by the end of November (I think when they ship) and damage my bank account a little more. But definitely forcing me to get out and shoot! Keep up the good work (loved the amusement park stuff).

@@theranchhandwhat do you think overall? I wanted maybe buy the B Set and in future the 33mm as well At the moment the full set is for me to expensive. Is it sharper and what's you experience with them?
@theranchhandАй бұрын
@ I am really happy with them so far. The footage I got in Taiwan and South Korea just running around with my old A7s2 and these lenses for the first time was really impressive. There is a learning curve with focus for sure on some of the lenses but the quality is such that all the “quirks” you read about them are actually what makes them look so unique. I’ve shot anamorphic before (Kowa, etc) but the first set I’ve owned and just decided to buy them all since were so reasonable. The 33mm I still don’t have so if it goes on sale in the next couple months I will otherwise will buy full price early next year. I can’t wait to shoot this little indie feature with them in the spring.

Thanks for the terrific video. Anybody know which of these sets has the best color consistency within the set? Looking to buy a set and that is important for me!

First of all great overview... in a long time i am searching for a charachter lens. Like vintage lenses like the helios and canan fd. But at the moment i realy digging the blazar lenses. Remus 35mm and also checkin out the cato line...

I did a similar test on my other channel only with the sirui saturn. And over the time i more and more use the saturns, theweight, the ease of use, i use a foladaway filterholder to get closeups fast and it is just not a pain to use 😅 after maybe a year now i sold the remus and invested in the vazen lenses and now i am fretty happy i must say
@alina9757-v2x2 ай бұрын
Vazen is a technical mess inside....low grade materials, stupid technical choices, no dust protection and so on...they might look good but when you will need service, be prepared.

I feel we fell in love with anamorphic for more than the flares, but modern companies just care about flare. Hence, all these lenses aren't interesting to me. I tried out the Atlas set, and was under whelmed. They just don't have any magic to them, just gimmicks.
