@@bigheartsmolpen Hi mate, honestly, it's been going great for me! I'm not in a position to advise on the best singing mic but for my online interviews, this is exactly what I needed and at a great price! Personally, I'm very happy with it! But if I do any impression videos I still use my Yeti because the hyper sensitivity is good for that. All the best with it if you do go for it!

Thanks for this review, what would be a better sound quality alternative of a mic that can record simultaneously from USB-C and XLR ? Rode does have a nice one but they put the USB-C connector inside the XLR connector ! Others provide that but with the good old mini-USB like the Samson Q2U /Blue Yeti Pro X 🙄

Hi Chris, thank you it was good video. Do you think i can use ATR 2100x for recording guided meditations and voice overs? I am concerned about background noise. And will it more refined with wind shield / pop filter? Please reply.
@HeyCMH
@HeyCMH 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think it would be great for that, especially if you are only currently using Apple Headphones or built in mic. It's obv an entry-level mic (IMO) but serious bang for buck. Def grab a filter that fits the mic properly. They are only a few bucks but play around with a few to see which one fits best.

I bought this instead of the Yeti but I find that I lose occasional sounds. Is there something you'd recommend trying in terms of settings or mic placement, etc? It seems to be especially bad when I guest on other people's podcasts, but it happens when I record on my own too...

To me, Audio-Technica makes some of the best products for entry-level folks. I did a pod interview with a host in my high rise apartment a few years back, and I was shocked how little echo was picked up, despite have 20 ft ceilings. I think you’ll be pleased, but it’s absolutely worth grabbing it on Amazon and then returning it if it doesn’t work out. I usually recommend sampling 2-5 mics and then just returning the ones that don’t work out.

@@HeyCMH Wow, that was a very fast and detailed reply from you. Thanks a lot man. But I'm living in a country where Amazon services are not officially available. So it's kinda hard for me to choose. Can you do a little comparison between the ATR2100X and ATR2500X for me? I believe they are different types (dynamic and condenser). I've read and viewed a lot of videos about them but I still need more tips. Please explain more if you can, thanks again.

If you're going to buy an interface there are many other mics to look at and consider. Find a comparison of popular handheld dynamic mics and pair one of those with something like a scarlet solo if you want to go the XLR route. With the quality USB dynamic mics are achieving, there's really no reason to go XLR at all IMO. You could get by with this mic, and only this mic.

USB microphones have an audio interface built into them so there is no need for an external ones. Once you remove all the additional features, inputs, outputs, and knobs you get on a dedicated audio interface, what you're left with is small enough to shove right inside the microphone, which is what they do to make a USB mic.

Pretty solid, right? Keep in mind, I didn't change my Rodecaster settings. If I got really meticulous, I might be able to further enhance the sound on XLR. Either way, it's great to have an option out-of-the-box that is so solid.
@ulfrinn8783
@ulfrinn8783 3 жыл бұрын
@@HeyCMH Here's the thing though. If you've been in audio for a long time, then you know that just over the last couple years the prices on quality audio components have come way down. You can get DACs for under $100 that achieve audio quality you used to have to spend $500+ on multiple pieces to achieve. The same is true for microphones. We are now seeing a level of quality through USB mics that you used to have to buy $100+ on an interface, even more on cables and other components to achieve. The advantage in sound quality XLR interfaces once had is gone. There are obviously other advantages to interfaces though, way more features for example, most have 1/4" input if you have an instrument, most can output to a separate amp to drive speakers. And that isn't even taking into consideration compression over KZbin or while streaming or podcasting where most of the finer details in the audio quality are going to be lost anyway.
