Little late, but I honestly don't like that Sony didn't opt for a "true" touchscreen LCD. I love the full touch screen capabilites on my Canon M50, however, with the Mark iii, I don't like that it's only a flip up. The side flip+swivel feature is my go to. I love the Sony, but am having lots of issues on whether to pick it up or not.

I think the two main points are missing here: Auto-Focusing and Image Stabilization. The G7X sucks at focusing but it’s IS is literally unbeatable. I couldn’t find any vlogging camera which comes even close so at the end of the day my conclusion is: I’d rather go for a smooth image with some focusing issues here and there than a shaky image (which for me is like unwatchable). All the other stats are pretty much almost the same. I don’t care for grading, cause I love the canon colors and I also use an external mic no matter what. So for me Canon wins easily.

I love cameras like these for travel photography. For video the Sony one is better, it simply has a better auto-focus by far. For photography, though, I prefer the Canon camera because it has a longer and faster lens (faster at the same focal length for the most part).

Great review although I felt a big bias towards ZV1? Guess it is your personal favourite but most of the review was aimed at glorifying ZV1. Would have loved hearing a bit more about how Canon stands out as well. Just a minor feedback when doing a comparison video. I’m sorry to say that this video lacks picture quality (vague). Disturbing background music which makes you hard to understand. Also for non-vloggers the Canon is the better choice. You don’t mention 40 % longer zoomrange of the Canon. It goes optically to 100 mm. I tested it in combination with 2x digital zoom and I was very impressed with the 200 mm focal length. Also the Canon had a USB-C port. This is important because you can connect the camera to a PD powersupply or PD powerbank and always have a full internal battery. No limitation of recording length except the 30 minutes, that most compact cameras have for legal and tax reasons. After 30 minutes you hit the record button and go on. Time lapse can go over one hour easily. The Sony ZV-1 cannot do this, unless you hassle with dummy batteries and spare batteries. The micro-USB on the Sony is a shame. It seems that the whole world is mainly vlogging, but there are other markets too. The Sony is better for vlogging and has a well-thought of range of accessoires for this purpose. But for standard video production and streaming the Canon is the better choice. (my native language is not English).

I was so excited to get the Canon g7x Mark III and was disappointed with the auto-focus. I saw on YT you could download the software to fix the auto-focus issue, but then after seeing the SONY SV1 soft edit feature, it attracted me to that camera. Happy both have mic jacks and flip out screens.

Software update on G7x M3 makes AF tolerable. I actually like the focus transition. You can’t get the smooth transition when using phase detection. It’s too snappy. If ur not patient enough to focus before you shoot, skip the G7X. Honestly it’s not that much of an issue

In terms of vlogging, I would prioritize the auto focus over everything. If you are vlogging, audio doesn't seem to important (to me) as you are out and about and ambient noise ads to the vibe of the video. But if you are struggling to stay in focus, that would be a pain in the but. I personally don't think "stabilization" matters much...if you get good with setting up shots, hand held shot skills. But all cameras generally include that in the lenses these days

hey mate. Honestly, IT is more about the wizard not the wand. Now adays, I would stick with an Iphone.... or if you want to get a camera, get one where you can change out the lenses. Like sony ev10 ii ....or get an older model like the original canon R ...which is much cheaper now cuz its an older model but still takes amazing images.

hey mate...directly speaking, i think it is more about the wizard not the wand. And I would also say, the Channel idea, topics, titles, thumbnails, and all that are where the magic is....AND! Yes, I believe you could acheive that with the ZV1. With that said, now adays, I would say you are better off using your Iphone as they are pretty powerful. I would suggest investing in a camera only if you are willing to get one with interchangable lenses. That way you can upgrade or change lenses...that is what makes something look cinematic or have a specific look more so than the camera body. the sony zv e10 can do that and its an introductory camera....or I would get an older model of the canon cameras like the original Canon R and a used lens on a site like KEH camera.

heyo. you certainly can but keep in mind, because it has a fixed lens, you are limited with the focal length (how close you can zoom in). If you want to set up a camera to record a football game or school dance, then yes. If you are trying to make a sports commercial then, I would say you need something more "heavy duty"

Marcin Palka In honesty, both cameras will do the same job. However, in my experience ...having a flip out screen and the new features of the Sony zv1 are pretty handy (built Nd filter and flip out screen) are worth it. That all said, if it was me. I would ok at the canon m50. It’s in the same price range but it allows you to use mountable lenses. So if you ever wanted to get higher quality lenses, you could. It is also around the same size. That did, I would go with the Sony zv1 for size and convenience or the canon m50 for the upgrade capability

Hunter O'Brien I was actually lucky enough to win the Sony ZV-1 in a photo competition. I wasn’t too sure if it would suit me as I already have an iPhone XR, GoPro 8, Mavic Air 2, and a Canon 6D to take travel videos with. However, the more I see and read about the Sony ZV-1, the more excited I am to get to use it. With the fast f1.8 lens it looks like you can capture a way better low light image than what I can on the iPhone, plus it can capture really nice bokeh shots which gives me the DSLR depth of field look. Add in the compactness, swivel screen, incredible auto focus, digital stabilisation, and the great onboard mics (with deadcat wind filter), and I can see that the Sony will be coming with me on all of my travel adventures and that the Canon 6D will be having a little rest at home for now.

It does have the WIFI picture but if was to share perspective, if you truely want to get the most out of any camera, having a workflow around uploading your footage via a SD card is how you will get the most out of it. As far as pictures go, it has a fixed lens so if you are interested in getting it for taking pictures. I would say an iPhone is the same. However when it comes to shooting video for KZbin and that sort of thing, this is the camera I would suggest

I think both are great options! The ZV1 does have some pretty amazing features that I really enjoyed using and would be pretty useful for a blogger. Especially the flip out screen, and the buttons are placed really well if you are filming on the go (with kiddos) ...I would personally go with the Sony 🥳
