I don't have designated footwear for my bugout bag. I wear redwings, all day, every day, the boots with a king toe and composite toe. When it comes to your feet, you need to spend the money for a good pair of shoes. I personally don't like boots that are waterproof, as generally they will not allow your feet to breathe and can cause some serious foot issues, its the reason the military jungle boots had vents on the side to try and air out their feet. But to each their own. Those look like they would do the trick, one thing you did was weigh those boots, that's smart, an ounce on your feet is like 5lbs on your back and is the reason most hikers these days are going with trail runners but they are only good for about 500 miles or 2 months. In a grid down situation a local cobbler will be a wealthy man. Guess by my ramblings I am big on footwear, yep. Also recommend getting some quality insoles with serious arch support and made out of rubber, you can pick up a pair on Amazon for $20. GREAT TOPIC!!!!! and Thanks for the video and getting my old brain a working. Will have to try a pair of those out,

Great review! Those are some nice beginner boots. For me, since I work with the park ranger and trail maintenance they won't last, but they would be nice for a backup pair of boots. I have some Wolverine boots that I've had for around 4 years. They're just now showing hard use ware. My left boot had something similar with the seperation inbetween the mid sole and material. There's only about a 2 inch separation, but I'm not sure if there is a way to repair that. Still, after working at the park, hiking, and camping they've held up great.

Good content, nice video. I have these, as well as the Targhee 2 and other Keen's. To me they're not durable, sturdy enough for my preference. The Targhee also has the reflective strap around the heel, not very stealthy. I personally prefer a leather hiking boot, foot wear is such a personal preference.

Unfortunately, these shoes have lost their quality, I have already bought 3 pairs and the same disadvantages, the sole peels off at the bend.

@From Point A to Point Z I prefer Hanwag Llasa 2, but they're pricey. The Lowa Renegades are great and go on sale at times for around $160.

“For beginners” really? Do I need to be an expert to wear good boots?
@mcmlxv98273 жыл бұрын
Beginners generally need a general purpose, easy to find, not very expensive solution. The same for any type pf product. Keen's will work for most people and are readily available. There is not one boot that works for everyone but Keen's will suit a wide range of people. Experienced people are more specialized in their selections. I get his point.
