I highly recommend an allround "build" for the first playthrough of the dlc, cause with all the new stuff, weapons, spells, ashes of war... first thing you want to do, is try them out, in wich case, an extremly specialist build will bring you right back to renalla an respec your character

Just wanted to say I love your build videos. From the launch of Elden Ring I've taken inspiration from these builds to create my own thing. My main character I will be taking into the DLC is a lightening dragon blood dancer. I've experimented with other builds with new characters after beating the game but I love my creation. Thanks for the hard work you put into these builds. Can't wait to see what comes in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Nice informative video as usual! I havent heard much yet about how, having the new sekiro-like damage progression system, the best use of extra lvls will possibly be in the form of HP, Stamina and Mind. Also, it COULD be that the damage enhancement works in such a way that is not a % increase in dmg (and corresponding incr in Boss HP) but more of a % filter to a fixed dmg reductiont he bosses may have applied in the dlc. Like so, the interesting "buff" on status ailments would be mitigated, as the bosses would not have higher hp pools, but more of a Dmg Reduction filter you can reduce by progressing through.

Holy damage seems like a big gamble though, the lore gave me the impression it would stay strong through the base game but that didn't pan out.

God, watching your magic build shred through enemies in this video makes me want to prepare a magic build again (which was my first playthrough build). It's a pretty powerful ability and easy to use/leverage in a playthrough.

How I interpreted the "new levelling mechanic" is some thing along the lines of: The enemies in the new area can only be effectively damaged via a new damage value. If i were theorize, you would probably be able to infuse your current weapons with this new damage value in order for current loadouts to be effective. But i also theorize that the new weapons in the DLC might have more potential in relation to this new damage value, leading to people using the new weapons but also not completely discrediting the weapons in the current game.

Two-hand Blasphemous blade w/sword of Milos on your back and ancestral spirit horn equipped, get nonstop hp and fp regen. The fp will help you keep using takers flames for more hp

I know I already said this on the previous video, but I just wanted to make sure to comment it on your most recent video. I thought I would share a cool build that I made. It is a life sapping build, specializing in black flame spells and blood loss buildup: the weapon is Rivers of Blood. Since katanas strike quickly, I think it is a good weapon, especially with the bleed. In your offhand, you will use the Godslayer seal. The incantations you will be using are Black Flame, Scouring Black Flame, Black Flame Ritual, and Black Blade, so you will have to kill Maliketh for this build, as well as Morgott and the Fire Giant. As for talismans, you will use these four: Flock's Canvas talisman, Shard of Alexander, Lord of Blood's Exultation, Two Fingers Heirloom. The final part of this build is the War surgeon set.

I'm holding my NG+3 RL 125 character rn. I don't wanna move on before grinding out the DLC. Dex/Faith Black Blade build. Basically Flame Art and Sacred infusions galore. Still got 3 Larval Tears if I wanna roll back into my Str/Int, Arc/Fth, or Str/Fth builds for those strengths. Biggest weakness with the Dex/Fth is heavy armored and/or shield guys. Got back up weapons but kinda min-maxed for daggers/curved swords.

Honestly, a major thing I hope for is more madness weapons/spells. That, and while I do like the idea of holy damage being highly relevant in the DLC, I think that'd be too easy to make happen and that's why From Soft won't do it.

I personally think they wouldn't make Holy damage much better because it goes against the idea they're bringing with the new system. If holy damage is better in the DLC, then it would just funnel people into holy damage, which is already a thing many people would be carrying from the base game.

@@KodFrostwrath People can do whatever they want, but I really do not think FromSoft designs the game with people funneling the overpowered thing in mind. They don't want anything to be broken I'm sure, but any game with a variety of builds is going to end up with some being stronger than others. If people ruin the game for themselves by switching builds every time something becomes meta, there is not much FromSoft can do about that. That said, they still want everything to be decently competitive. Holy damage should not be so overpowered in the dlc that it is objectively the best for every situation, but I think it would be fair for it to have more bosses on average it is strong against to make up for how poorly it performs in the endgame.

There are some speculations that the Crucible Wings will be a special power or an ash of war instead of an incantation because in the showcase trailer, the tarnished is holding a twin blade in one hand and a new shield in the other hand. Therefore, no seal to cast. But I’m definitely excited for crucible wings! Let’s fly baby!

Something I think is really good for people who do multiple playthroughs is to focus less on high damage to kill enemies and bosses as fast as possible but instead to focus on surviving as long as possible to have more time learning attack patterns and how to dodge or parry. For Elden Ring that build involves the Serpent God's Curved Sword, Blasphemous Blade, Icon Shield, Blessed Dew Talisman, Assassin's Crimson Dagger, and Taker's Cameo. This has a ton of healing letting you explore further and die less so you can focus on learning the enemies instead of just trying to kill everything as fast as possible.

I feel like a smooth way for them to implement this new "attack power system" would be to give enemies/bosses in the DLC resistances to all types of damage (so status effects and poise included). Then the player can lower those resistances by collecting whatever items are tied to this system. This would also ensure the base game isn't affected, since whatever we collect only affects those DLC resistances. So a bit of a reversal of the Sekiro system with similar results?

I would imagine that a good poetion of the reason for the attack power mechanic is just the time it has take for the dlc to come out. An extra year basically means a hell of a lot more players are sitting at extremely high level and in high ng+ states.

Personally, I'm going in with a Int/Dex Sleep Archer build. Using Loretta's spells, oracle bubble spells and zamor ice storm + great blade phalanx with st trina's sword + torch and sometimes Albinauric bow. I stopped leveling at 200 , and I wanna keep it that way. I recently put down my Vigor cause I wanna "git gud". I play at an Acolyte of St Trina, I presume they'll be lots more sleep items - can't wait for the sleep flower field from the trailer. I don't really care about damage, it's about having fun... Did pure dex and found it too easy. Returning after a break is just playing from bad to good allover again!

A sekiro style upgrade system says to me that we will possibly be able to perform the true weapon art animations we see some of the NPC's perform in the base game or in the DLC to come. The crucible spells for example.. may be part of a set of disciplines for us to master and the swooping wing knight animation we all long for could be an example of mastery in the Crucible skills or something? Maybe?! 🤷🏻

I did use my ashes of war enough at all, or summoning. I'm going to use that stuff in the dlc. Towards the back half of the game, I chunked the lighting spear at everyone, then switched to Mougs spear when enemies closes in. probably spelt his name wrong. 7:41

Having a hard time choosing what build. Might end up int/faith on my 150 build. Since i seal will still get 320 scaling and my staff 270. So i could still use all incantations and all spells

Comparing a lvl 300 to a 713. Once you've hit 300 you can make pretty much any build with a similar or even same dmg output as a 713 of the same build. 300 doesn't take anywhere near as long to get to. Its essentially an end game lvl as you have enough points to hit hard caps of essential stats for a build. Anyway with all that, the DLC has already been said to be for end game players. Its designed around those character builds etc. The DLC isn't ment for new characters not saying you cant do it just saying its for end game stats. I believe thats what Miyazaki has already said. That being said I believe that if you have a lvl 300 str build w 99 in str. Vigor 60 and the rest are filler stats. You go into DLC with a lvl 713 of exact same str build you both will still be doing the same dmg for the most part (just an example). However you need more str to do more dmg to said enemies so now comes the new lvl system adding to what you've already brought with you to dlc. New items that boost str, int, dex, etc. etc. I dont think anything is getting nerfed I just think the bosses are going to be that hard that an end game str build of 300+ is going to need even more str than what you could get from a 99 stat. Thats what I think at least. I know its alot sorry lol

Does anyone know if the hyper armor gained from off hand great spear attacks gets applied while power stancing great spears since in order to power stance you have to have one in your off hand??

My DLC prediction- holy damage will be super useful for PvE I also wonder if you should pause a pre-DLC prep game before burning the Erd tree
