Heat pump technology is the best thing that ever happened to home heating and cooling. I'd like to see more rv manufacturers use it.
@Living-Vehicle-Matthew
@Living-Vehicle-Matthew 11 ай бұрын
Tough for most manufacturers to use this as a single zone that operates off 120 isn’t quite enough and will ultimately heat or cool only one side of the unit. You really need a 240 V system with multiple zones like we have a Living Vehicle. The power needs of that type of system to allow for regular use both on and off grid is quite complex and expensive for manufacturers that optimize for price. that being said, I agree with you it is an absolute game changer that completely elevates the efficiency of the HVAC system.

The main thing wrong with the LV is no soft closing drawers and cabinets. I don't think if I spend $800 on a camper, no matter how perfect, I should get those loud, banging drawers and cabinets. They say I can close them slowly and then softly but I shouldn't have to train every guest I have over on how to shut the drawers and cabinets slowly so they don't wake me up in the morning. It's ridiculous that Mathew can't figure this out. Everything is perfect! You just have to do that for us. Love everything else about LV and the team!

There is a market for the small percent that will buy this though and the proof is that they are selling them. I love it. I hope you get into more about how the body itself is built. Roof material, walls, floor, insulation, etc. I also love that there is people out there willing to build something like this and put cost to the side and put quality first. So many awesome things on this rv. I LOVE the water reclamation feature. Being in east Texas mostly, we are used to high summer temps with humidity, so we have started putting a bucket to catch the run off from our ac in order to water flowers and plants. Being able to safely use this type of condensation is mind blowing to me. Kudos to the genius minds who included this in this amazing rv. Removable island..more genius! And the double split.. also a very good idea (as I type this,, hubby is on top of our 2015 360IBL to figure out what's wrong with our a/c). We are hoping to go back to Montana next spring and work as camp hosts again right off Flathead Lake and this rv would be so awesome there. I just may go buy a lotto ticket this weekend.... smiling... Thanks for a fun video and a look at this wonderful work of art.

Love the wood accents. The aluminum construction makes it durable but the wood gives some warmth so it feels almost like a home. If I had money, I'll buy a waterfront property or something with a great view to the mountains and park it thete. I'll built the minimum infrastructure to be completely off grid like a water well and a septic tank (additional bathroom and showers) and have it as a vacation home. Instead of going to all the tribulations of building a new house, I'll just get one of these. Clever idea the movable kitchen island. I would live on that patio happily ever after. Love the redundancy and accessibility of the systems if repairs are needed.

I guess I don't understand because I dont ever want to be in that group or need. Give me shore power, a generator(rarely need it) and I'll have money to buy and pull my dinosaur fuel burning real lamborghini behind it. Again, not being hateful, but looks like something Dexter might use.

What a very nice RV. Very impressive....along with the price tag. I am not taking away from their build quality or the passion of the owners. This is definitely catering to a specific demographic that can spend that type of money. Just like you said, a Lamborghini or Ferrari cater to a specific demographic, but rest assured, the Lambo or Ferrari are not their daily driver. They will have another vehicle they will take out on crappy or most days in general. I don't think the person who can and will purchase this type of unit will be a fulltime RV'er. They will most likely have a million-dollar mansion, (with a Lambo or Ferrari in the multi-car garage) to live in and only take this out for short trips. Again, not taking away from this work of art, if you can afford it, good on you. I've been full-time now for 2.5 years in a 44ft 5th-wheel toy-hauler but would love to try out their 5th-wheel (GT-38). Thanks for sharing your video.

Seven hundred thousand dollars is obscene ffor something that looks like somebody did a home-conversion of a box trailer. The quality is out of this world, but you can tell they're boat-people. We used to live in Santa Barbara, and left when we realized we'd never really be able to afford a (decent) home there. I suppose if I wanted an all out boondocking trailer that's darn near indestructible, I might consider the Living Vehicle trailer. Or, I'd just build my own. At that price, though... Kudos to these young people for thinking out of the box! I have played the lotto, so I am IN, but wondering about this unit. TO JD---------------> 1. Let us suppose these wonderful young people ring out 90% of RV failures, by their over engineering these systems. When it DOES have a failure, and we all know it will; who fixes it? Campland crooks, nor any privately owned place is going to touch this thing. Are we suggesting, we have to take it back to California? 2. You had better love camping above anything else. Why? Because if you don't expect to keep this thing for years; a lot of years, NOBODY is ever going to give you what it is worth! Can you imagine going in 6 or 7 years down the road, and trying to tell someone when purchased, this thing cost you, 500 grand, so you want 300.000, or even 250,000! People change as they age; and want differnt things..........those are the people who HAVE THE MONEY, we all know this. So, to suggest this thing will be a forever camper for a couple, is faulty reasoning. 3. I have been a total proponent of admitting that RV manufacturers are sticking it to the consumers. This they have done it for years, and it is a total sad state of affairs. Personally, I would not buy anything but an Alliance or Brinkley as of this writing, and I am not as confident as I should be in either of them........... and if I had to choose one on my life, it would have to be a Brinkley; although as everything in the RV industry, that could change. 4. Thank you JD for showing us a niche camper. Unless it is a 10 year warranty, it is not worth much, but it is interesting. A 10 year warranty doesn't mean much, if the company is not capitalized enough to sustain it, or has enough outlets to service it. Does NOT mean they are on the wrong track, just means those on the cusp of being able to afford one of these; if they are smart, will never do it unless all the above boxes are filled in!

Love this so much. My only issue is that I intend to tow with my Cybertruck which doesn’t with dual rear axles. And the13,500 tow limit. But I think I’d rather have this than a second home. Getting into astronomy and astrophotography. Love the idea of heading out to clear, dark skies whenever and enjoy the all-electric, sustainable life I have at home. I might even consider making this a full time home with a small plot and some storage units and gardens to tend. I’d sell my home for it. Have to at $500-600k. But I’d need a smaller lighter version so, with my luck, it’d be even more expensive lol. With all the videos about the horrors of owning a travel trailer or RV i don’t want to spend as little as possible on something like this. You get what you pay for with this company. Basically if Tesla and Microsoft shares go up substantially I’m in.

2 questions...1 Would you not get wet on the deck when its raining? I say that as there seems to be a large gap from the solar panel extension to the roof. 2 Can you walk on the roof if so is there enough space to clean the bank of solar panels as I doubt that you can walk on the solar panels, also I'm sure you can't walk on the awning so is there space to clean those solar panel while in travel mode?

I cannot believe what I viewed. I bought a used 32’ aluminum trailer that I’ve been gutting and have written ideas in a log book for customizing my trailer. They’ve done my ideas and I’m so upset that they’ve beat me to it. An all electric trailer solar powered with the generator backup system. I love the water reclamations system they did. I didn’t think of that. I do have other ideas on my custom design ideas that they didn’t use. I’m going to raise my aluminum trailer for better living accommodations and belly storage. I will be running aluminum vents through the ceiling and belly for ac/heat. I’m still going to use a large full size canopy that when opened I can hang screening that will keep bugs out. I don’t like the all aluminum interior, just doesn’t seem homely to me. I will still use wood cabinets. This LVH is a great trailer however the price has got to come way down. I’m disappointed that a lot of my ideas are here but I’m gonna use some of theirs also! 😂

We're designing 40%+ efficiency solar thin film of fired ceramic semiconductor crystals on durable metal sheet that could take you from 2 kW to 4 or even, a few years down the line, 6 kW, and batteries that will be over 2 kWh per kg. That could enable you to power not only the home, but a BEV truck as well.

I’ve been checking out the living vehicle for a couple of weeks now, it is very impressive, and they absolutely have the best quality and innovation in the industry. I was also wondering if they had considered towing the LV with an electric truck, and possibly partnering with either Ford, Chevy, or Dodge designing away to use the solar from the LV to enhance the range of an electric tow vehicle or charge your EV while camping since those options are very limited?
@JeremyLand
@JeremyLand 11 ай бұрын
Solar charging a vehicle is years away. Ford Lightning uses 0.49 kwh per mile. On this unit, with the awnings extended, they were pulling in 1964 watts. So in 1 hour, they generated 4 miles of range for the Ford Lightning. And that truck is nowhere near the size needed to haul this beast.
@LivingVehicle
@LivingVehicle 11 ай бұрын
Integrating with electric trucks has always been the goal. This is absolutely possible. Our largest solar array currently is 6kW. Using the Ford Lightning mentioned in the comment below as a reference point, you would charge 12 miles of range per hour with our largest solar system. Of course that truck can’t tow LV, but there are other options that can. We also offer lighter weight models. Our largest battery pack is 72kWh, which will allow for energy stored over a longer period of time for EV charging as needed.

What would be nice if you have an electric truck and the solar panels charge the truck as you drive to extend the tow distance and or keep it charged.
@Rumline7
@Rumline7 11 ай бұрын
It has level 1 charging, and probably requires the solar awnings to be out to even deliver 5KW. Even if you had that, it only adds about 10-15 miles of range per hour of charge time, for a regular electric car. For an electric truck capable of pulling this? Maybe 3 miles of range per hour. So if you drive 20 mph it might make a difference to your range. And you'd have to drive with the awnings out. EVs use incredible amounts of power compared to what solar systems are able to generate, until you start talking about house-sized arrays.

Looks like a tool truck. The draws and cabinets look like tool boxes. Also, it reminds me of the camp lite rv trailers. They were built all aluminum but steel frame. Same idea but a lot cheaper and light. The yachts I have been on, none of them sounded like a like my toolbox opening and closing. Looks like a car hauler someone bought and added Harbor Fright icon toolbox components to it even sounds like a cheap toolbox. I don't see what you are so impressed by it. The solar panels and battery bank are about the only thing I see that is really unique.

You should start a business building these by hand as well. Sounds like you have it all figured out and can sell em like hotcakes and shut theses greedy people down. All these people are after money, after all. You would be a millionaire!! That $150k RV needs shore power, water, and isn't built nearly as well for fulltime long term use. Plus is less efficient from a heating and cooling perspective. Again, needs power. Add $120k for the solar setup that's on this.

"JD finally sells out."?? JD is reporting the facts on a new RV. I don't know how that's a sell-out. But, yeah... the $120K for the solar? That's the most reasonably priced thing on this trailer! Think about that battery bank of LiFePo4 batteries, and the slide-out setup for those solar panels. That's a big chunk of that cost, I'm sure. All of that Victron control hardware, plus they're probably doing a 220 volt inverter to give that multi-zone mini-split enough juice. Anything more than 12,000 BTU is going to be 220 volt, and running multiple air handler/Evap coils, is going to be 24k to 36k BTU.
