There's not a lot of tutorials for it but it's such a tiny program you'll learn it in literally 5 minutes. Just a menu with every single action on a button on the left, all of them accessible through keyboard shortcuts which make it the FASTEST NURBS MODELLER IN THE WEST It's like VIM but for CAD

@@Rctdcttecededtef depends. I mean sometimes I do mechanical design, where I want the actual thing I'm making to be manufactured and used in real life, but even when I don't i have some sort of principal aversion do doing repetitive tasks manually. Idk, maybe I've been completely indoctrinated by the UNIX philosophy, but I think not only is the actual workflow much better in the case of actually modelling what you want (*) but it's actually more helpful because this is how humans think. When you see a complex object, you see it as the ontological sum of all of it's features. You don't see an object as that nice deformed Sub-D mesh that you constantly have to crease near the edges of the holes, constantly have to make sure your holes are still round while changing the proportions and the silouette of the outside shape. I think for non-organic modelling parametric is the only way to go. But at the same time i don't think you actually need NURBS. Blender's modifiers are more than suficient for getting the job done is used wisely

Look at what's prevalent in your area. Try Indeed. I see more Solidworks than anything. I worked with Autocad 3D and ProEngineer years ago. I just purchased Solidworks Pro though for home projects and study, possibly doing some side jobs, and maybe getting a job using after I'm more familiar. Besides, I find creating projects and assemblies fun 🙂. I love small to medium mechanical design projects.

Blender and FreeCAD are the only ones that are truly free. Fusion360 is like "free but we own your ass" and they can change the EULA at any point and make it so that they own you even more or is suddenly no longer free and you have to pay to keep using the designs you've made (like what happened to OnShape in 2018) FreeCAD is an early acces software with a strong community and it can serve you well if you learn it but MARK MY WORDS it's very hard to learn. Blender is absolutely awesome and so good it will change your life (not kidding ... Not in the sense that you can get a job doing it lol (I mean you can but that's not the point) but it will completely change how you look at software and digital creation. If you're a student just going to engineering college and have to learn NURBS and parametric design and FEM Analysis and CFD and all that you have no choice but to learn FreeCAD, because as unintuitive as it is, it has all those capabilities. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend it, just stop wasting your time watching these sorts of videos, go install Blender NOW (it's just 128 MB) and thank me later.

An interesting video. Kind of feel like the title was clickbait, though. You went through several, and there was no real reason why they were great for beginners, as in what made them great for beginners. Your presentation, from the comments I read, seemed to make great sense to those watchers who already were at least fairly well versed in CAD software. Not so much for the beginners, which is why I tuned in. Sorry.

@SlowedSonics I think you misunderstood his comment. What I think he was referring to is that reading the title of this video one would expect it to explain why these options are good specifically for beginners. The creator said which ones are free or cheap, which is useful, but he could have given a much more detailed assessment on how the user interface, the way the tools work or the resources each software gives you makes your learning experience easier as a beginner, and which of the options are better for that. It is not a bad video as it is also useful for a beginner to know all the possible available softwares, but the video almost makes it seem like Fusion360 and TinkerCAD are in a similar level of difficulty.
