Great video. It is my favorite caliber as well for all the reasons you mention.

i have a 5.56 AR rifle with a CMMG conversion kit. Best of both worlds. centerfire for fighting and medium game, and 22lr for small game hunting.

Own what's most popular. That will give you the best position for barter (both sell and trade). 5.56 and 9mm parabellum. Also, these are most likely to be carried by LEOs and any military forces you might encounter. There's nothing wrong with 22LR. But, I wouldn't want to be in a gunfight with a 22LR if the other guy has a 5.56 or larger...especially at long distances.

Can you send me some empty bullet shells for my collection?

Now I do agree with you over all, however my question is how about that 17 HMR? From a gun sales man's point it is a much less sought after round than the 22 and with the Savage A17 out on the market, it is just as good of an option. What are your thoughts?

For one gun it would be a 9mm or 40 cal Glock. Conversion kits are readily available in the case of the G23 or g27 to 9mm , 357 sig or .22 I would add a pistol caliber carbine that uses Glock mags ASAP. This IMO is the best for versatility and if one fun I'd start with a pistol as its alway with me.

for what and where is the bigger question. what would you hunt if food is your goal. pigeons,squirrels rabbits...rats. mine is quite,cheap to shoot ammo is easy to find. 500 rounds guys in a back pocket. it's called a pellet gun. for self defense it is other things
@PostmasterPrepper10 жыл бұрын
That's very true, and if you get a .22 cal pellet gun some can reach speeds close to subsonic 22 LR speeds. I also love the Gamo Whisper because it is amazingly quiet and powerful.

He showed big calibers in the preview picture but none in the review ! Very misleading !

Good points. I agree, if you're having to travel, the .22lr is the way to go. Plus, you can do what Chechen snipers did and simply friction fit a small drink bottle with a hole drilled into the end and subsonic ammo. Nobody will hear you shoot unless they're right on top of you. Chechen snipers used it against the Russians in urban environments and were quite successful. And as far as self defense goes, there is a saying: All hail the bullet storm. Or if you prefer, incoming fire has the right of way. If you've got a 25 round mag and you have to open up, people will be giving mother Earth a big hug.

for me I only need calibers that are effective against humans and predators... being vegetarian, other animals don't even register as food for me so it's wasted weight to carry weapons only useful against them.

U have to eat humans if u live in the city. No wildlife. Besides, everyone will eat their pets. So u have to eat humans. Ppl always resort to eating ppl when food is gone. The ppl who got stuck in the mountains, the ppl in the seas, EVERYONE! Small game? R u kidding me? All the game will be wiped out in a matter of 2 days. The only meat will be ur neighbor and u will want it. But if he has a 12 gauge and u have a 22, guess who will be eating humanburger? The guy with the buck shot.

+peachees Cities have millions of dollars worth of preserved food(Canned goods in particular). My city is not very big and even it has like 12 big grocery stores. Full of well preserved food.

+WarBoy If you go to a grocery store in a SHTF situation, you will become humanburger! The well armed gangs will own the stores. Unless you can get 20 well armed people to work strategically together, you're history. (Many of the gangs have ex-army personnel, so do'n't think they're easy pickings) That's why you prep, so you can stay in a well-defended home!!!
