Hi Carl! I found your KZbin Channel tonight, and I'm very impressed by your content. Wow! Subscribed! I'm the head of a Swedish christian ministry, Tentmission, with an outreach in 14 nations spreading the Gospel. We have also developed a professional NGO for development and humanitarian assistance with the name Star of Hope since 1979. Last year, the pandemic made us find new ways to communicate with our donors, and we have been producing podcasts and KZbin programs, with content from the different fields were working in. We're using the Black Magic Design workflow in the TV-production with Atem Mini Pro Iso and now moving to Atem Extreme. Three BMPCC 4K is used today, but we will also get some 6K Pro cameras. Keep on giving us tips and ideas. BTW - I loved your piece about the Mix Effect Pro.

Awesome Review! You have gained a subscriber! I am curious what lenses you are using? Do you have any suggestions, I have purchased some of these cameras for the ministry I work for and can't wait to start using them.
@pavementdotmedia3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and sub! Lens choice really comes down to how far you are away from your subject. I always suggest the Canon 70-200 as a starting point. With the crop factor of 1.56x it becomes a lot closer to a 100-300, which has a lot of reach.
@jonriddle333 жыл бұрын
@@pavementdotmedia I have been looking at those, any preference on which one? the F2.8 vs the F4. Or even the sigma or Tamron options of those focal lengths?
@pavementdotmedia3 жыл бұрын
@@jonriddle33 I used to do a lot of shooting on sony cameras adapted to canon with a Metabones adaptor. Sigma and Tamron would never communicate properly with the mount. If you can afford the 2.8, I think you'll really appreciate the extra stop of light.

What about remote focus/zoom etc. What kind of lenses do I need buy to have all of these functionalities? Will it works with e.g. Canon lens?
@ShazammtheProducer3 жыл бұрын
If your using the 4k then Panasonic lenses mostly and Olympus or M43 photo lenses with Autofocus. With the 6k Canon EF mount so you can with Canon Autofocus lenses and like Sigma AF Lenses. You can not do what your asking with cinema lenses.
@pavementdotmedia3 жыл бұрын
I'm currently using a Canon 70-200 EF 2.8 for my BMPCC6k, but it's not super easy to control remotely. We're using a Nucleus-M follow focus system to handle Zoom and focus, but shot with it ENG style before we got it. Iris will work remotely with the camera controls in the software.
@DatrysiadMedia3 жыл бұрын
@@pavementdotmedia will be getting the bmpcc 6k pro but how do you find the 70-200 2.8 lens my dad has this and the 24-70 and he's giving me both. I presently have the panasonic g7 so need to get an adaptor for it but curious to see what your experience with pulling focus with the lens and the tilta nucleus since I also have one of those but currently use it on a samyang t2.2 cine lens which has the hard stops
@pavementdotmedia3 жыл бұрын
@@DatrysiadMedia The Nucleus-M has its own personality, but is easy to use once it's set up. You can calibrate a lens regardless of hard stops or not.

What kind of lenses would you throw on this for general purpose, multi camera live stream setting. Not necessarily a church service... But concerts, plays, and other audience events? New sub. I run a live production environment (3G-SDI), but I use VMix, not Atem. Does the Atem control software come with the camera? Or do you NEED an atem switcher to get full remote control of these cameras?
@pavementdotmedia3 жыл бұрын
It all depends on how far back you are from the subject. Thankfully, the 1.6 crop factor on the sensor works to your advantage in this case. My first go-to long lens is always the Canon 70-200, and if that's not enough, I go for the Sigma 120-300 or 60-600. Be aware that long lenses will really need some proper support and a hefty tripod with counterbalance for best results. Hope that helps!
@crooker23 жыл бұрын
@@pavementdotmedia That helps tremendously. Traditionally, I've used fixed-lens camcorders. But as I decide how to spend upgrade money, I always wonder about interchangeable lens cameras, and I'm already starting to build my system around the BlackMagic architecture .

What are your thoughts on the URSA broadcast G2 for live production compared to 6k Pro?
@pavementdotmedia3 жыл бұрын
I really like both cameras. The Broadcast G2 is a very appealing camera - especially for productions that want the flexibility to switch between “broadcast” and “cine” shooting styles.
@daltonldavis19953 жыл бұрын
When using the pocket line of cameras with the more robust ATEM Production switchers (not the Atem mini) do you notice any video latency using the converter boxes? Mainly my reason for using SDI native cameras rather than these with just HDMI.
@telescopemediagroup3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tested the broadcast and BMPCC side by side, but As far as I can tell right now there is no noticeable delay on the HDMI compared to any of my other SDI cameras

i'm planning to buy the 6k pro. Can u suggest me for that? the bmpcc cameras aren't have image stabilization so. Handheld or Gimbal or any other solutions are there ?
@pavementdotmedia3 жыл бұрын
The 6K Pro lasts longer than the previous models, but still goes through batteries pretty quickly. I’d suggest a V-mount battery if you want to do long takes. Also, recording to USB-C drives, as long as you can protect the cable connection, make long record times so much easier.
@TheAlienDRINK3 жыл бұрын
So the Sony FS7 would also fill the gap?
@pavementdotmedia3 жыл бұрын
The FS7 is a solid workhorse camera even though it's beginning to show its age. I've owned one since they were released. For live production, I think the biggest drawback is that you can't paint it easily, like you can on the BMPCC6K.
@CaravanMovies3 жыл бұрын
Sir what about auto focus is it reliable and can it used for you tube live streaming ? and lens options .......which one you suggest me to buy a7sIII or blackmagic 6k pro ?

If you’re going to depend solely on AF, the Sony is superior. If you’re not moving a lot, either should be great.

How are u going to fit a B4 lens?
@pavementdotmedia3 жыл бұрын
I don't really intend to use a B4 lens on this camera. The Blackmagic Broadcast camera would be a much more suitable option for that kind of work. It is however, possible to adapt canon EF to B4 using an adapter if your want that option. Be aware that using this kind of adapter expands the image circle with a loss of around 2.5 stops of light.

@@pavementdotmedia Thanks for your kind comment. Well, to me, broadcast camera means B4 lenses.

What lenses are you using for your 6K for live?
@pavementdotmedia2 жыл бұрын
Depends on where we place the camera. 70-200 2.8 is a great lens for coverage if you're not right up against the action. I'm also a huge fan of the 24-70 if I'm working handheld. If you're really far away, the Sigma 60-600 is a great option
