@@AlexPettitt its possible to conect one cat cable from studio cam to atem tv studio HD8 ISO and get video, (and with poe injection) and power without camera converter? does ATEM studio have this capabilities? thanks!
@AlexPettitt
@AlexPettitt 3 ай бұрын
@@patamuslo69 the ATEM TVS HD8 ISO itself does not have the ability to power the camera over Ethernet. However I believe with the POE++ injector I showed in this video, you can go from ATEM to injector LAN input with one cat6 cable, then injector POE output to Camera with another. So once cable from camera would give you power, and ability to stream your feed to the ATEM TVS. I haven’t tested this, but it should work

Hey Alex! I love your videos, and have found them incredibly helpful in my own journey using blackmagic products. Bit of a niche question - but you went over MFT lenses compatable with blackmagic zoom demand video, and now that this is compatable with the BMPCC6K, I was wondering if you could help me with EF mount lenses compatable? Thank you!

I'd likely switch my whole workflow over to this if black magic is down to a 1 cable solution for 50-75% lower than the converter. due to the way the studio grew, here it's heterogenous with a couple GH5s, Sony A7 IVs, which presents several challenges. I've been considering moving to the bm cameras (of some sort) for many reasons, and getting this down to a single cat5/6 for everything would be fantastic.
@camrowe466
@camrowe466 3 ай бұрын
Do it. You wont regret it. If you get a Constellation or TV Studio switcher, it completes the workflow perfectly. I reccomend getting the studio 6k pro cameras with a good mix between the 2 power zoom lenses so your operators have the whole studio covered in terms of distance. Also if you have fixed cameras with zoom leneses, you can zoom from the control software if you need to reframe your shot. Its such a great workflow

I can't believe they came out with the G2 of the micro studio camera, without the ability to run those on a single cat cable connection option. Permanent setup, not a big deal, but if you setup and tear down every day in a few diferent locations, give me the all cat 6 hook ups please!

Hey Alex, maybe you know if this exists somewhere or if not maybe you have some connections to get this made. A few months ago I was looking into using an HDBaseT converter as a means to run my BMPCC 4K with my ATEM mini over a Cat6 cable rather than optical HDMI since HDBaseT carries the CEC signal backwards for camera control. While I was looking into this, I also found that many HDBaseT converters carry power from the Tx unit to the Rx unit so you can send data and power to a projector over a single Cat6 cable. But what I thought would be really cool would be if there was an HDBaseT converter that sent power the other way from Rx to Tx. That way you could hook up the Rx unit next to an ATEM mini with HDMI and AC/DC power, then connect it over a single Cat6 cable to a BMPCC 4K with the Tx unit mounted to a cage, and connect HDMI and DC power to the camera. This would allow you to setup a BMPCC or Micro Studio at a great distance with only a single Cat6 cable run while still powering the camera, sending video data to the ATEM, and receiving camera controls from the ATEM. Do you know if this exists? Or do you know people at Monoprice or OREI that could make this a reality? I feel like with the popularity of BMD/ATEM for lower/mid range setups running on HDMI, this would be a great addition for many many small churches and other lower budget production setups.

Really like the idea and hopefully BM have something like this in the works for the future. I sadly don’t know anyone at other manufacturers to be able to put in a good word, but I definitely agree there is a gap in the market for this type of thing!
@MoChuang343
@MoChuang343 3 ай бұрын
@@AlexPettitt I think I actually found it. Its expensive though, to the point that it probably doesnt make sense to buy them for an ATEM mini setup. But DataVideo looks like they make an HDBaseT pair with DC output on the Tx side. Its the DataVideo HBT-5 paired with the HBT-6. Together its like $600 which is way more than most HDBaseT Tx Rx pairs which cost around $150 total. If you ever get your hands on these, I would love to see how they work. And maybe showing off what they can do will motivate cheaper HDBaseT manufacturers to make their own.

I did a similar thing in an ursa Studio build, but with the provided powerbrick and a Long 4-pin-xlr cable..might work for the Studio cameras as well?! 🤔 Could you also use a Poe++ switch with multiple ports to Power several Studio cameras at once?

I’ve done exactly the same thing too with the 4 pin XLRs for URSAs, but never tried with the Studio Cameras as this POE method turned out cheaper anyway. I would assume though that it would work, the only thing is that the URSA power Supplies I believe are 100W. But should still be fine :)

It does indeed, you would just need to be aware that the streaming from cam to ATEM currently uses RTMP so does have latency. I have a strong feeling the in near future that will change though. Let’s see what NAB brings ;)

@AlexPettitt
@AlexPettitt 3 ай бұрын
Hey Deniz, this is really strange. The thing to check is that you 100% plugged it into the POE port on the injector. Also that there is a power light appearing on the injector. I’m wondering if it could be a faulty unit if not. All my testing for this video was done using a 4K Pro, but when I get back to the U.K I will also test on a 6K Pro, but there’s no reason why it wouldn’t work on the 6K model

@@AlexPettitt thanks for the quick reply. Both lights are on I tried couple of 5 and 5e cables just doesn’t want to power the 6k pro. I am wondering if the unit I bought from Amazon is faulty. But as soon as I power the injector the lights are coming on. Well let me know once you try it. I assume I can still return the injector for the time being. Thank you and keep up the good work.

@ You need to run/use a CAT6A cable to run 90W of POE. I'm not 100% how long of a cable CAT6 can sustain that power, but safer to just go with CAT6A. I'm 90% sure 5e won't do it, and 100% 5 won't.

Am I missing something here. Your solution only addresses power for the camera. Spending $50 for the converter and another $30ish for an Ethernet cable compared to buying a simple extension cord for $30-50 . I do not see the benefit here.
