This is a really great review of a much improved version of the iFootage Jib, I've used the previous model and wouldn't recommend - it actually forced me into making my own extendable arm crane out of frustration, but this new version appears very much more stable and professional. I love the vertical movement adjuster and I'll likely put this on the list of stuff to get as it will be much easier to travel with and store in its case.

Cool. I've not tried the previous versions. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the review! Do you know any other alternatives for more travel friendly weights? Perhaps using smaller diameter sizes but using more of them?

You can use it without weights, but it would be much harder to control. I'll do a test with bungee cords and see if that's workable. It might pull the tripod back, or the entire thing might just fall forwards. It could be really good if it works well, for me the weights are an issue, because sometimes i don't have water in the location, and sometimes the metal/concrete weights are too dangerous in that environment. For example I wanted to go filming with my cat, but I'm not going to risk 10KG in the air above her on uneven ground. And of course carrying the big weights can be difficult without a car.

Great work, but don't the weights too heavy?
@nitsan8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I don't understand the question.

is it too heavy?

It's about 4-5KG travel weight if you buy the water weights. Not bad. It's better for a car, not what I would want for travel by walking, train, etc.

and of course add the weight of the tripod, fluid head, camera, etc. It adds up quickly.

What is the max weight (camera + counterweight) can that jib handle ?

I have just got one of these and the QR plate seems to be proprietary. Not Arca Swiss, not Miller at least, which is what I have. But you said it fits many other QR plates. So what brand of plate did you use in this video? It would be handy to get some spare alternatives.

Hey. I looked at the video and I'm not sure which of my quick release plates I've used. I guess maybe it was a Manfrotto size plate. I don't have the jib anymore but I still have the smaller plate that doesn't have rubber on it. Happy to sell you that if that's useful to you.

Interesting - my best guess is that it is the Manf, plate then. All these different plate variations drives me crazy, and I think the manufacturers monopolise on that. I appreciate your offer of the smaller plate. I prefer the 3/8 thread larger plate for my C100 but I don't need that 75mm holder sticking out as I don't use a fluid head on this thing. Ah, well - you work with what you have!

do you have a usa link for the slider? cheers and thanks :)

Yeah eBay USA link is in the description. If you don't see any USA sellers then I guess you'd need to order from abroad.

You can buy directly from 'Camera Motion Research'. They are an official iFootage dealer in the USA with great service.
