Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 23 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

Small world! I've spent many hours in that same charity shop and they always have amazing treasures! Most of my gifts for friends come from there as well! The dining table and chairs.....amazing buy! Even more amazing is I saw Bonnie's chateau from the highway about 2 years ago when it was on the market.....did a little snooping around and thought it was charming! So happy she found her dream chateau. I'll be buying a small farmhouse near Cussay in 2024....looking forward to that! Congrats to Isabella for all her hard work on her Master's degree! Well done!

Hi Vivienne & Simon, Simon you are really honing your DIY skills. My first home had 9'3" foot (2.81 m) ceilings. The planned renovation of our great room will give us a new 11' (3.35m) ceiling height, perfect for a really Christmas tree. It's true the most fun is picking the tree, next is decorating the tree & the house. Mark & Scott

It appears the "Marie Antoinette" sofa had the cushions in the incorrect place. The curved cushions on the seat are actually the back cushions! Seat cushions were on the back. You should go back! Lol

💕To stop the pine needles from getting over the floor place a white sheet underneath & ruffle it up to the width of tree needles will fall onto sheet💕When removing tree pull sheet corners upwards & tie sheet around tree then carry outside💕If you want to keep pine needles for future projects leave tree in sheet & bang the sheet so lose needles fall into sheet💕Unwrap to collect needles from your sheet & place in a container until needed💕They are great to add to homemade candles soap or just to place in small cotton bags to put inside a drawers💕

Beautiful dining set. Are you certain the extension leaves are not tucked under the table? My mother purchased a new dining set without the "optional" extensions only to find them stored under the table top two year later. Simon's quick carpentry skills definitely come in handy. No wonder you ladies keep him around 😉.
