Looks like a black walnut tree you cut. I just bought one today and used it on a large pecan limb. It cut right through it like butter.

Good to know as I wasn't sure what type of tree I cut down. Yea mine is still working great a year later!

Hi there! Great video! I was mesmerized by the circular pattern on the wood you cut with your chainsaw. I'm curious, do you happen to know what type of tree it was from? And does it have a specific name? It's truly fascinating! Thanks for sharing your craftsmanship with us.

Glad you liked it! I'm not 100% sure but I think it's a black walnut tree since it has some of the horizontal breaks in the bark. It's been slowing dying and had bunch of poison oak vines growing up it, so I needed to cut down because I'm highly allergic to poison ivy/oak. In hindsight I should have worn a hazmat suit as I had a severe reaction on 80% of my body after messing with this tree (even tho washed entire body and tools multiple times shortly after with poison ivy oil remover). Thanks for watching!

Good review. Sorry about the poison oak/ivy. Decades ago, i pulled off the main road and had to relieve myself. Wearing shorts, terrible stuff, ended up outta commission for a few days, I ended up spreading it all over with the scratching. I have the Skil leaf blower with two batteries, gonna get this on sale if my better half is cool with spending on a tool I'm not going to need too often. @TeamDIYNow

@@johnfitzgerald4456 Thanks! So you know the horrible feeling of poison ivy as well. It's a good saw, hopefully your able to get it while it's on sale now. My wife asked the same question, but if wait till you really need it might be full price. Good luck.

Just bought both skil 40v vs greenworks 40v 2.5 volt. Hands down skil is a much better chain saw. Refs higher cuts easier. Charger has fan and cools battery.

Yea I have been impressed with this Skil 40v chainsaw as well. Especially for the price!
@AlwaysSlimShadyBro6 ай бұрын
@TeamDIYNow I returned mine because I need more power soninam going for 80v. If skil had 80v I would buy it. I will have to settle for greenworks at costco. Beleive it or not the 8 inch chain saw sold on amazon workes better cutting 4 inch logs than 14 inch chain saw.

Just got one too, it’s cool and perfect for what I need it for. Might get an extra battery.

@user-bv3qw4me9r if you are cutting up to 4 inch logs, the imotive 8 inch saw at Amazon works better than the 14 inch saws. It lasts longer and cuts awesome.

Skil is made by the same company as Kobalt. Chevron makes both and others.

Glad to hear Lowes price matched it for you as $149 is a great deal for this saw!

I got it as well at $149. I actually bought their 20v and tested both. Needless to say, the 20v is in transit back to Amazon... Love the power on the 40V. Just wish it was a 5ah battery that was included.
@TeamDIYNow3 ай бұрын
@@bernitup6492 Yea I agree, the 5ah would be nice. I just used mine earlier today, works great every time!

I see you use the italian chainsaw method. Back and forth instead of using the dogs. Good looking saw anywhoo. I have the 40 blower weed eater and am satisfied. THX

Was that an oak tree? I’m pretty impressed it’s able to cut through the larger logs like that. For the price that seems pretty amazing to me

Yea this saw is impressive especially for the price! I initially thought it was a walnut tree, but I'm not 100% sure.

I bought one and in less than a year later, the battery is bad. The charger green light shows fully charged when the battery is in, but the lights on the battery show red ( dead) and do not show it's charging. According to Ski customer service, the battery is bad. I would not recommend this saw based on my experience having used it very little in less than a years time.

Hopefully you were able to get it replaced under the Skil 5-year warranty. In the past I have had $200+ Milwaukee batteries fail in 6 months so I can understand the frustration. In my case Milwaukee replaced no questioned asked, hopefully you had a similar experience with Skil customer service.

Where are you finding this for $149? Its $199 everywhere i look.

Amazon had these on sale for $149 various times throughout the year amzn.to/3QW5Hi0. I just checked; you are right looks like they are back at the retail price of $199. Keep an eye out tho out as I'm sure they will go back on sale as they were listed at $149 for months in 2023 on Amazon.
