Just found this channel. It is exactly what I was looking for, a beginner swimbaiter. Just ordered a dobyns 806 and my first bunch of hudds and swavers. Now I’m watching all your vids from oldest to newest!

Have you ever used the Savage Gear hard 4 play?? Here in southern WI it gets absolute devoured by everything. Largemouth, Smallmouth, Musky, Pike. The action is so great

If your rod is too stiff and you don’t have another one use mono. That stretch will help a lot

Im sure others have maybe commented this, or maybe you yourself are already aware, but just in case here is my opinion on what could help land those fish besides the rod. I too use the shine glide alot, and the first thing I do is swap the hooks out. You may have already done this, but what I feel works that is a little contrary to others is, I go with a lighter wire hook. I personally use the gamakatsu ewg round bend "magic eye" hooks in a size 2 for the shine glide. They are good size hooks but they are not super thick. They get good penetration on the fish, and knock on wood, I have yet to loose one since using these hooks. Since they are not super beefy hooks I do have to swap them out every 2 or 3 fish or sometimes I will need to swap them out after a particularly large fish. But to me, landing those fish is well worth having to swap a hook because a big one slightly damages the hooks every once in a while. Good luck man!

Just got to the part of the video where you say you swapped the hooks out for ewg hooks lol. Idk what brand your using or what size, but for me, they touch the bait and are pinned. Maybe the rod is playing a bigger part then I had thought lol. Great video regardless!

Doesnt matter the size bro, you grinded it out and stuck a fish ON A SWIMBAIT!! Big or small that's an awesome accomplishment. That's what it's all about bro.

Yessir!! Always a good feeling gettin em on the swimbait!!

Love the videos brother, keep grinding. I would recommend either the irod Bailey swimbait mag rod, or the irod Kaimana moderate action. Both would fill that gap of what you’re needing.

Thanks bro i really appreciate it! I actually ordered the irod genesis 2 xl swim already! I appreciate the suggestions!

Ahhh broo as much as I would love to try a LDC I definitely don’t got $330 to drop on a rod right now but hopefully in the future!! Thanks for the heads up tho! Im definitely going to start keeping a closer eye on them now!

Try up grading the hooks to a owner ST41BC treble 1/0 and a bit bigger split rings. It has worked for me on murry cod in Australia different fish ?

Just found your channel and watching your vids to catch up. I had a 15 tracker topper Jon boat but had to sell it because I moved. It was fun but at 42 inches wide to me it was still not stable enough. Now I am bank fishing again but thinking of what to get next, Jon boat, kayak ? Never fished from kayak so not sure about that. I absolutely love your boat but I can’t afford that rig. Anyway love your vids and especially this one, love the swimbait fishing and dude the ones that get away are brutal to swallow. I live in SC and fish ponds and Lake Wylie and when I hook studs which I have, I agree with B-spell grind on em and get em in and I will try and turn there head left or right if that makes sense. Thanks man
@jamiehegarty_4 жыл бұрын
Richard Keller thanks bro!! And yes I’ve been starting to learn to just grind them in quickly instead of playing them. That and a little lighter rod has helped a lot!! And they make some pretty beefy kayaks now and I’ve even seen them with trolling motors built into them but at that point its the same price as a jon boat but i hope you find one that works for you! Tight lines brother!!

Great video man, those shine glides have been some of my best producers Over the last 5yrs it’s a really over looked glide and and don’t worry about using the chartreuse color bass see chartreuse as another shade of white ,, and I agree to the action on the swaver 168 is trash.,

Good video, just some advice on swimbaits - 7:08 (sorry don't want to be that guy that think he knows it all, just from experience) never switch directions on swimbaits, go that one direction if possible and either net, or flip the fish in the boat. I learned the hard way just like what you did, I changed directions and lost nice fish at the boat and couple seconds after changing, sometime it's hard not to, but your landing will increase. The shine glide are so underrated, they're the best action bait at that price and even better than some of the 100 dollar range to be honest. 9 inch shine glide swims even better..

Ugh I feel your frustrations. I should prob get another moderate rod for glidebaits before I regret it. What rear camera mount is that and do you like it?

Do you know the exact size weight of the swim bait?
@jamiehegarty_3 жыл бұрын
I believe 2.5oz!
@bryanspeller4 жыл бұрын
Just horse them too the boat, put heavier hooks on if you need too. Just grind them then flip them
@jamiehegarty_4 жыл бұрын
Bspell ill try that next time! Thanks for the help!!
@terrybaker108810 ай бұрын
Your rod is fine. Just put an extra split.ring on the 🪝 hooks you will be fine 😂😂
@Thepondguy853 жыл бұрын
Don't stop cranking on em and boat flip em. Not the rods fault.
@Thepondguy853 жыл бұрын
And tighten that drag all the way down so you can control them and them not you.
