Hi Gareth, Glad you tried my recommedation. Did you get the meal deal?... 2 curries and two sides for £5 (may be £6 now---not sure). You could have a choice of 5 curries and two side's---pilau rice or bombay potatoes for £5 (or £6) ...... great value. I had two bhuna's and two bombay potatoes ---what a deal!!!

Bhuna is not hot. It is spicy but mild and aromatic, so this isn't authentic.
@JohnSmith-il3kv
@JohnSmith-il3kv 11 ай бұрын
@@brusselssprouts560 Bhuna is a medium hot curry. On a scale of 1-10, (where 10 is the spiciest) bhuna is around a 6. The amount of chilli powder you add however is optional so you can adjust the level of heat, by adding more or less. The name bhuna again refers to the style in which the curry meat is cooked. In Urdu, bhunna means to be fried. The dish, which originates from Bengal, is typically prepared by frying lots of spices at a high temperature. The meat is then added, and simmers away in its own juices. Bhuna means spicy-----Just for your education.

The curries they sell at Heron are very good no doubt about it if you can plan ahead a bit I find it is best to let them thaw out overnight in the fridge the just heat them up in a saucepan over a low heat as using a microwave can make the chicken rubbery. My only criticism is I wish it was a bigger portion as I'm a greedy pig.

I'm the kind of person who likes to mix my food, condiments, and beverages; for example what I do with a frozen supermarket chicken curry is during the cooking process I add King Prawns to the chicken curry and continue cooking. I also mix hot chilli sauce with either Mexican, Greek, Turkish, Spanish, or Southern Italian tomato sauce. If you're going to mix fruit beverages make sure that you only mix a citrus beverage with another citrus beverage; don't mix a citrus beverage with Banana or Mango beverages as they don't blend well. I must also be in the minority who doesn't mix Gin with Tonic Water, instead I mix Gin with Sprite.

The dearly departed Poundstretcher used to sell curries branded as Dewhurst in long life packaging. I never found them in stores again, they didn't need refrigeration. I traced them to a Dutch company which makes airline meals but sadly no longer sold in the UK. They were absolutely awesome tasting. A couple of quid for a curry is a good deal.

I tried this the other day and I agree, for £2 this is the best value curry you can get, it's tasty and you couldn't make it yourself for this price unless you were making it for 10+ people. I also tried their chilli chicken but while the flavour was good the chicken needed to be cooked separately to get some crispiness in my opinion.

I must admit they are really nice. I do my own in the pan, with my little balti wok over the top. No rice for me though, a nice nanbread for me.

I stocked up on the Iceland curries the other day (2 of £4.00) and their Bhuna was excellent. Looking at them I reckon they are all produced in the same factory. I know the chicken is not actually cooked in the sauce, but they come out pretty good. Do it in the air-fryer - works even better (pre-thawed)

Iceland curries are nowhere near as good as they used to be because of cost cutting just a few lumps of chicken and a watery sauce

That looked nice & by your account tastes good too. I fancy that myself but not keen on onions, this might be worth the sacrifice. Luckily there's a Heron just round the corner (literally) from me.

Well Done Again Gareth great Review, I'd chop up a chicken breast and cook it in a wok and add it to the curry to really make a meal, seems to be plenty of sauce.
