one additional "pro" for the daisy chain you left out is that the extra slack can be used as a step aider by hooking it and drooping it under the bottom steps. I've seen it done by another KZbinr. And the con you had with the Daisy chain coming off the knob is easily fixed by attaching it with the "around and thru method" instead of just hooking the end onto the knob. Thanks for showing all three, I just made my own sticks and need to buy one of those 3 methods, I'm leaning towards Daisy chain.

I’d have to say the daisy chain and rope. Almost interchangeable. I really do like the rope method. And weight is irrelevant. Interchangeable really

When using the straps with buckles, attach the loop end to the versa button, not the buckle end loop. This will allow you to throw the buckle around the tree and the weight of the buckle will easily make it around the tree. I have Muddy Pro (originals 3-steps & 32" long) and I agree with you about the straps not being long enough for large trees. I may switch to the rope mod, that you demonstrated.

Thanks for the video. Food for thought, look into a better holster for your CW. If you feel the need to be adjusting it that much it's not being supported properly.

Bike inner tube cut to cover the cam buckle and for me it's the best attachment method. It gets me the best bite and tightest fit except for ratchet straps. Also I've had problems with not getting my rope mod attached properly and nearly fell once just been sketched out to use them since.

The way shown to tie the rop mod on the button is completely wrong and not very safe. Will it work yes. May it not fail maybe. This should be corrected so someone doesn't watch this and it fail. Rope goes around tree under button then behind rope to sinch then one or two half hitches are tied.

I tossed the buckle portion of the strap and tie it off like you do your rope mod (but I go under instead of over). I carry one buckle with me in case the bottom of the tree is too big for the Hawk straps.

For your daisy chain rope, you can add a short piece of rubber hose or tube, to your step loop, & cinch it up, so it can’t fall off.

@@markschuette2615 Find a clear rubber hose that your line can be poked through with a rod, with little hassle. Create a 1 3/4" long collar, & that collar can be slipped over & up to the loop, to keep the loop closed up. I hope this makes sense. As an inventor, I have many ideas that help people get though their problems.

@@markschuette2615 If you make a video showing everyone this tip, it’s ok with me, if you give me credit for it. (Shane Peterson, from central Minnesota.) For me as an inventor, I find joy in seeing people benefit from coming in contact with me, as my God given & inherited talent, is finding solutions to peoples problems, my great grandpa, a handyman, my late Dad, an industrial mechanic who had engineers in awe of his abilities. I can within my mind, see things much like a computer cad program, & usually know if things will work or not, by running that scenario through my mind. Another good tip I came across, was to use the stick itself, to reach around the tree. 🤦🏼‍♂️💡Lightbulb moment!! I’ve chosen though, to abandon the sticks altogether, leaning towards what’s called an SRT climbing method, commonly used by arborists, because most of my target trees, are to big to get the steps on without much hassle, plus, I love the fun & ability to repel or belay back down the tree quickly, using a safety 8, which I may possibly upgrade to a Grigri.

@@DIYHunter they make a shrink wrap tape of you put a few rounds of it up by your loop (eye) that first attached to the button and hit the tape with heat. It will shrink around your loop . Causing a smaller and tighter loop around the button. But still flexible. Even in cooler temperatures.

@@DIYHunter a roll of it runs around the 10$ range here in Canada. And tge nice part it of you have to change your rope just cut the tape and you'll be fine. Plus it kind of looks better. And comes in different colors. On your cam straps I've always cut a piece of bicycle inner tube to cover the entire cam buckle you never know when someone is trying to help unhook something in the truck and just toss a strap it sure helps save the paint on the truck. Good luck.

@markschuette2615
@markschuette2615 2 жыл бұрын
one thing that helps and is so important if using daisy chains is to cam the stick a bit, so put the stick on kindof off to an angle then hookk your daisys on both sides then pull stick back to the verticle position. by moving the stick ouut at an angle before attatching it into position it creates slack. the only bad thing abouit this method is it works too good somtimes and is hard to get off tree. but if you practice a few times you will start to see exactly how much camming you need.. great show, gl to everyone this season

If you turn your buckle around it would work alot better than the other two. The simplicity that the cam strap has is better than using a process to anchor tie a step in the dark. But everyone has their personally choice.
