Swapping out my stock EM1 suspension for Koni Yellow + GC with 440F/380R rates for autocross/daily driver. Just got the final parts today. Any thoughts on the purpose of the metal sleeve that sits inside the bushings in the top hat? I bought china extended top hats and they came with hard plastic bushings that don't fit over the Koni sleeve, but fit fine over the bare shaft. Wondering if I'm better off drilling out the bushing or running them without the sleeve... Thanks for the great (and timely) video!
@GarageBuiltHondas6 жыл бұрын
Use the sleeve for sure. The OEM sleeve he had on his old shocks didn't fit the Koni's. I used the new supplied one. I wouldn't use those weird bushing the top hats come with. I'd suggest getting the energy suspension ones or just OEM if that's all you have currently. The Koni sleeve fit a little tight into the ES bushings but it wasn't a difficult fit at all.
@EvilGenius0076 жыл бұрын
Garage Built Hondas thanks for the insight. I'm really curious how well those hard "bushings" I have would work, but I don't want to go for multiple alignments just to satisfy my curiosity. @@GarageBuiltHondas Awesome! Cant wait to track with this setup, went with the maxspeedingrods from one of the videos you've posted, but now im looking at something a bit more substantial! THANKS!

You might want a little stiffer if you're tracking it then.

@@GarageBuiltHondas what’s a good spring rate for track then?
@GarageBuiltHondas4 жыл бұрын
I run 500 all on my track car. I'm not sure how Ek's feel but maybe at least a 450/400 or around there.
@bobbydelamar6065 жыл бұрын
I heard that combo is good for decent DD comfort.? I'm looking for something that has some comfort but performs good. The Tein's I have on my prelude are a little harsh.
@GarageBuiltHondas5 жыл бұрын
These shocks are amazing. Paired with a not too stiff coil setup and you'll be good.
@pablo_em16495 жыл бұрын
Do you think 380/300 spring rates good for dd / track ?
@GarageBuiltHondas5 жыл бұрын
Probably too soft for the track, but should be really comfortable on the street.

Quick question for u. On my integra, the driver side axle has play at where it meets the half shaft. Is that normal

Does it drive fine?

Garage Built Hondas it has a vibration at exactly 35 mph. Nothing before that 35 mph and nothing after.

Wade 1 theres a c-clip around the splines on the axel that helps keep the axel in the half shaft. Might want to look into that

Hate to be the debbie downer but I am really skeptical about those coil sleeves being from Ground Control. If they were, you would not use that silver cup piece because they would rest on the little clip that goes into the grooves on the shock body. Those springs look like the ones used by GC since they are made by Eibach. Plus GC sleeves use a hex bolt to tighten the collar that the spring rests on. I am just saying this because I don't know how other sleeves hold up, especially if they are from random eBay sellers.
@GarageBuiltHondas6 жыл бұрын
You're correct and perceptive. The coil perches and sleeves are generic, hence why we are using the cups. The coils themselves are the GC's made by Eibach. These used to be my old springs but I have upgraded to 550 rates. I'm still using my Koni's with the original GC sleeves/perches. We had to use the cups because it was cheaper to find a generic set of eBay sleeves/perches. Good eye man! *I forgot to add the eBay sleeves/perches are great. I've used many in the past with no issues. They are a great solution for picking out some custom rate springs.*
@RadiOG586 жыл бұрын
Garage Built Hondas it was really difficult for me to find a front set of GC sleeves since I already had rears so I almost did this. I ended up finding some GC sleeves and buying used springs. I love this setup. I have 450 all around.
@GarageBuiltHondas6 жыл бұрын
I don't know if they sell the sleeves separately. I'm sure they might be we never checked and since he was buying my old coilover setup I had those sleeves lying around and threw them in for him. I still think buying a $35ish coilover set off eBay just for the sleeves might be cheaper than the GC/Eibach ones. Lol
