We ordered a new CRV Hybrid, and your review certainly paid a part in it. One factor that we had to take into account was something you couldn't include in your review. The Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson were higher on our list, but the hybrid models were (and are) both selling for up to $10K over MSRP. They aren't that much better than the CRV (which we got at MSRP). If you add in that additional money, and the greed/arrogance of the dealers, you might find that the CRV was the best on your list. (Neither of us cared for the RAV4, we found it aesthetically bland, both inside and out). So thanks, you helped us out a lot (plus I got my Audi A5, also partly because of your revies). Good work!

Does Kia teach their salespeople to be arrogant? The one we spoke with was so horrible- wanting 12% over MSRP and extra charges if we bought off the lot bc of “convenience” I was instantly turned off by them and reserved a new Honda instead at MSRP! I did have to get 4 out-the-door quotes to find one who didn’t add unnecessary fees though. But, the Honda salespeople compared to the Kia ones were like day and night. Kia sales guy was telling me how unreliable Honda is and I drive up in my 14 year old CR-V that’s had zero drivetrain issues. I had to replace the motor in my wipers but I live in Seattle-rain city! Otherwise any issue I’ve had had no effect of the safety or ability to drive the car.

Same story for me as well. After 5 unsuccessful negotiations with the Tuscon Hybrid (due to markups and added stuff), I got lucky with a CR-V Hybrid Sport just $600 under MSRP. Although it does not have as many bells and whistles as the Tuscon for the money (ref: MSRP), I bought it for its space, predictable handling and comfort. Dealer was reasonable, so i was happy to oblige. I refuse to pay markup. I'm not that desperate.

Rav4 is number one spot in my book, just recently Kia has had some major engine malfunctions and recalls. A coworker of mine had his engine blow up and catch on fire while I was on the phone with him. Toyota has way better reliability than Kia or Hyundai. Yes Kia & Hyundai are the cheaper option but you get what you pay for. Top of all that Kia & Hyundai's are easy to steal and often targeted by thieves.

I wouldn’t focus too hard on monthly payments unless you are living paycheck to paycheck-in that case then looking to upgrade if your current rides are perfectly fine should be the least of your concerns. The sportage is very nice, but Kias ain’t that economical anymore. Dealers are listing a $1,000 “market adjustment” charge so you’re paying extra for no reason whatsoever. Also, base trim CR-V hybrid sport is actually cheaper than the base trim sportage which lacks SEVERAL features (remote start, push start) that the base CR-V has. @@bluesdemitra38 No, I just can’t imagine buying a vehicle based on what it’s “worth” when you try to get rid of it. Unless you plan on doing a private sale (good luck with that) it’s not going to amount to any significant difference as a trade in regardless. Vehicles of any make aren’t a good investment, as I’m sure you know. I would always just recommend people buy what makes them happy rather than what happens when it’s gone. Life is too short to live like that.
@bluesdemitra38 Жыл бұрын
@@Ricky-mo6mv well yes it’s certainly a possibility I’ll buy this car at the end of the lease and in that case the Honda name and reputation will yield a greater return if I sell down the line. And like I said, Kias are no longer the economical option with dealers jacking up prices for no reason besides demand. Paying for hype ain’t smart!
@Ricky-mo6mv Жыл бұрын
@@bluesdemitra38 Yeah. KIA sales departments suck the big one, but they do have amazing looking vehicles. I will say the service department was spectacular though. I actually had a KIA Seltos lease from back in 2021- it was to be 4 years. After hearing about people trading in leases early, or selling their vehicles in these times for increased value, I decided to see what Hyundai would do for me this past July in buying out my lease. The value of my Seltos went up from what it should have been, so I made out really well at Hyundai on the last day of the month. With the equity in my Seltos, they marked down my $40,000 Tucson Limited to about $33,00 and I didn’t need a down payment. The Seltos SX was rock solid, and I was only going to part with it for a huge deal. I wanted the Tucson mainly for the extra room in the back seat, and I fell in love with the exterior and interior of the Tucson. So far so good! I’m just giving you sh*t. Out of the compact SUV competition, I do like the current CR-V, as they have come a long way in the design/looks department. I bet that sport trim looks nice with the blacked out wheels!

I don't know if I agree with this list a dependability is questionable on a lot of these models, I would do research on each of them before purchasing, maybe leasing them is an option first, especially considering long term ownership. I would on the other hand would never buy a Tiguan because that 2.0 liter is infamous for blowing head gaskets and burning oil at low mileage, and this is not just reserved to the Tiguan, it's on all Audi/VW vehicles. I would also never buy a Mitsubishi or Nissan because the Jatco CVT transmissions are garbage if they are not taken care of and they could go out as low as 60,000 miles.
