I love my PD36R. Carry it all the time! TBH, it is my first edc light, so I don't know any different. I handled a streamlight wedge recently and wonder how well people like it.

Did you know the Stowaway used to come with a pocket clip? Unfortunately I lost mine but it was a tough pen! Now I carry their black clicker pen, also from REI.

That fenix 36 is a great choice. I use the E12 for my edc. But use the 36 for a bike light for early morning rides. The 36 is also a great size for camping and hiking. I chose the e12 for my edc because it takes a single AA battery. My thought process is that in the event of an emergency, an AA battery is fairly common and I can likely replace it easily if needed. If power is out then I can charge a rechargeable flashlight. E12 was the clear choice for me.

I carry a Fenix E30R and love it! The pocket clip is also set up to clip on the brim of your hat as well

I have an older version of that PD35, and I love it. But it is big, so I keep it in my bag, and I don't carry it around every day. I carry the E12 in my pocket, and it's a good light. Got it at REI too, it would have been a better pick for you.

Ive had my pd36r as my edc since it came out. Fenix makes the best 21700 powered lights imo. I think the original is better for edc than the pro model because the pro sacrifices half its runtime for power in all modes. I'm so glad they upgraded the original to the pd36r v2.0. I highly recommend that one.

Back in 2018 I went to a Canadian tire store (it’s like a Walmart) because they had the wingman on sale for like 29.99. Opened the box in my car and a skeletool cx falls out and at first I was pissed but immediately was like nope this is way nicer then a wingman 😂

How about a keyring tools for urban carry? I have an emergency whistle & flashlight (living in London it's less a case of IF something hits the fan more a case of WHEN). Plus I have some other bits but would be interested in what you would consider key items to look for.

I actually do love the pd36r as a home inspector. Never had any problems except the rubber thing that covers the charging port fell off

Same thing happened to mine. But as far as I know fenix is one of the few who waterproof the inside circuitry.

I have a Lumintop EDC Pico around my neck, and use it almost every day. Held its charge forever! Need to get out of a dark room? - It's there.

I think the Leatherman Bond is an underrated edc multitool. Yea you need to buy the pocket clip separately, but for about $65 altogether, it's tough to beat and has a nostalgic form factor. It's not much bigger than the skeletool too.

Literally hanging smack between the E05R and the PD36R Pro was the LD30, which would have absolutely been the light to have picked. If you want to verify that, go get the one hanging on the door of your alucab that I specifically pointed to and said "don't lose this, Fenix has made all the newer models too big 😂" Thanks for the mention!

I have a 2022 Toyota Hijet truck, have that same spark throwing carby on my small little food kit. A snowpeak folding stove, a small fuel can, snowpeak topography cup with my old agency logo. have a little esee izula with the kit, a ti spoon and a ti fork, ti chopsticks. Have a toyota landcruiser bag that was made and embroided for a few people who worked on the new landcruiser, for circle of friends. Have field notes witr style expedition notebooks. Ti Topo pen was gifted at gieves and hawke last time I visited for my retirement/eventual funeral suit haha. Uses blanc insert. ti zippo from a company called pdw. has an outdoor design engraved on one side, and on other, a smiling skull with 5 blossoms around it. gift from guys from another life time ago... My edc also includes metric only tools from harbor freight, icon brand? For my Hijet, and for my xt250. My edc has helped over the past few weeks with my bike, had to fix a line. And when I was converting my hijet from 660cc, to a 1.5L T motor, big brake kit, new suspension parts, stack snorkel, rigid lights, solar setup and larger fuel tank, cut hoses with my knife. Used my lighter to heat wrap for some electrical stuff. Im currently using coast stuff. Have a 2000L headlamp, XPH34R. Is 70 dollars I think, but got on clearance for 17 at home depot last jan as they clearanced out black friday stuff from a few months prior. Going to be welding up tube and a light weight trailer from harbor freight to build a light weight camper the kei truck can haul around our massive prop, I like to camp and just hang out with our dogs. Great video!

While the mini Adamas is nice, I definitely would prefer full size Freek, M4 steel holds an edge for a long time, plus the blade can be put through the ringer without having to worry about it getting damaged. Watch the DBK video on their torture test of the Freek, it’s unreal. Haven’t seen the Adira in person though, looking forward to checking it out!

I will say the instinct solar 2 has been my daily driver watch and it is vastly superior to the original instinct/instinct solar and will take 22mm bands so that is a good thing to keep in mind, as near 30 day battery life and with some basic land nav knowledge the coordinate system gps system is a very good gps means. and in terms of lights I tend to edc a light with anduril 2 either a sofrin sc21 pro or the new noctigon d3aa that I am awaiting delivery on. but I am curious on what your opinion on titanium bolt action pens are like the bigidesign slim, as it has caught my eye as I am tired of my fisher click pens opening in my pocket?

I use a Skeletool because it hits the marks I need without all the extra crap I dont need. Side note: This is stupid and minor but it bothers me that in the world of EDC and surviving, everything comes with a bottle opener. If you care anything about EDC (or just being a male in general) and cant open a bottle with just about anything, you have some learning to do. The skeletool could be shortened up a good inch by getting rid of the pointless bottle opener. Any side of that knife is a "bottle opener"

meh all a watch needs to do is tell time, pretty sure a 5 dollar watch at walmart will do that just fine for quite a few years. i miss when dollar tree had those marvel and DC digital watches for a dollar they tended to last a few years. now i just got a cheap timex expidition i got on fingerhut a while back to get my credit score a boost. still going strong after like 5+ years only had to change battery once. only way i can see spending on a watch is if you want an EMP proof wind up watch, then you want to go for quality so the mechanism does not break down too fast.

I use the Garmin to track my workouts, hikes, and to leave breadcrumbs when hiking so if I ever got turned around or lost hiking in the wilderness (no trail markers and lots of overgrown, unkempt trails), I can find my way back.

@@BestDamnEDC i always just used an old style compass and map to keep the skill sharp. far more useful things to drop the remaining 980 dollars on after getting a 20 dollar watch, if i even had a spare 200 lmao. most of us are not wealthy. most expensive item i have is a used leatherman wave i scored for 60 at a pawn shop 2nd gen sadly so no replaceable wire cutters.

please don't buy the Benchmade version of the worksharp field sharpener. The coarse stone with the Benchmade logo etched into it is a piece of crap. It catches the edge of the blade when runs across the logo. Absolute trash. I regret not waiting a couple days and just ordering the Worksharp branded one. It's also sad that REI seems to be on the decline. So many products on their site that they are no longer carrying and in store stock gets less and less on every visit. Another victim of the internet market shops
