Best Computer for Autodesk Maya (April 2022)

Hello, I just wanted to say thank you for this video. It is still relevant in 2023 and helped me decide on my system. Initially I was going to build an AMD based system and even considered an Intel Arc 750 not realizing just how much Intel/Nvidia are better suited for creative applications and how little AMD/Intel GPUs are even officially supported by Autodesk/Maya. For the build in 2023 I'm going with a i5 13600k, 32gb DDR5 CL30 ram, and an RTX 3060 12gb. As I went for ITX, total cost was 1200usd, but if you go ATX or mATX this could bring down the cost by $300-$400 to a more comfortable $800. Many modern reviewers talk down 3060 cards but don't realize that people use these for more than just gaming. Thank you again!!

Hi @awpaca I was wondering, did you buy your Setup for Modeling and Animation for Maya? Or for Rendering? I'm just wondering because I need a PC build for modeling and animating in Maya, and maybe using it for gaming too. I don't really know anything when it comes to building a PC, so any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

Hey there. Fellow blender user here :). No, generally AMD cards are more suited for gaming rather than content creation. A 6900xt will get out performed by the RTX 3060 in blender rendering using Optix. Nvidia is generally more supported across the board in creative applications. Depending on your budget, an RTX 3060 for a starter system would be a good option as it has more cores and Vram than a 3050. Though if you have a big budget for a professional system then a 3090 or multiples of it is ideal. Everything he mentions here on Maya also applies to Blender. Hope this helps

Is there a good computer that I also use a bit for gaming for this too. I use programs such as adobe products maya and unreal engine along with blender. And I have no clue what all this computer is sorry so is there a good computer that fits all this because I do need something with big storage

Hi Aman, thanks so much for watching. A 12th gen i5 will be a good starting point for Maya. These CPUs have great single thread performance, and a decent amount of cores, so they're best for modeling and animation, but they'll be able to handle some rendering as well.

Hi Asha, thanks so much for watching, and sorry for the late reply. The laptop RTX 3060 will be perfect for Maya. Since these GPUs are generally found in laptops with pretty powerful CPUs, you most likely have a good spec for Maya.
