Guys, It was brought to our attention that there was a mistake found in the final ranking chart of the EARLIER VERSION of our jigsaw Head-to-Head video. It's truly impressive when our readers read through and pay attention to our data! As you know it takes a lot of data to create our final rankings, and we made a mistake in sorting one of the columns in the final score table The important thing is that we get it right but we do apologize for any incorrect final scoring. This is the corrected version.

I like project farm better because the tests are explained better and you can see more of the tests. And he sometimes test durability like when a tool is dropped. He also factors in the coat Project farm would have identified Festool as a good tool but a 350 dollar jog saw that you need to buy the additional accessory pack and a 350 dollar tool that didn’t nail down 1st in some important categories. He also over stresses some tools too

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am a scientist and a physician, this is the best work I have seen when comparing tools. Like the fact of creating jigs to minimize human factors and allowing the tool to perform without any interference, making the data collection more accurate. Excellent job and believe this should be the standard to be emulated by others. Agree with those expressing that price is essential to be included as it is an important factor in the mind of many when buying any power tool. Maybe consider collecting data on tool's durability, more common damage incurred from its long use combined with the price as it may show that higher price tools may not be equal to durability or vice versa; as it may help buyers to see durability, as more important than price in the long run. We used this approach when buying, for example, cars or power washers, as in the latter, Honda motors equipped power washers are considered very durable/reliable. Great job!

Just a general comment about jig saws: A jigsaw was one of my first power tools. This was partly because you can find some really affordable ones; I think I paid $20 back then. I didn’t use it very often - or not nearly as often as I liked. The deficiencies of the tool left me discouraged: wandering cuts, bending blades on big curved cuts, fussy blade changes. I then got an early Makita stick- battery model. Not much better, very short run time, and required different blades. I did notice how excellent the Makita blade was. Years later I got a corded “pro” model. This $$$ Makita worked like a dream. What a difference! Tool-less blade change (which I first saw on a DeWalt) was heavenly. In my use, blade change is a big factor. Lighting the cut line is huge. Having the saw blow sawdust out off the cut line is critical. Less important is how close I can get the saw to cut to the front edge of the tool. When cutting a curve, I need the blade to remain vertical.

1:40 aren't Festool jigsaw blades thicker than Diablo? Honestly, I think the Carvex would perform better if the blade were retained properly. Also, with prolonged use, the smaller blade might deform the rectangular shape of the blade holder.

As a Ryobi Tool Owner(because the Ryobi tool package that I bought that day was on sale for almost half of what DeWalt tool package I first went to get.) Only a couple of times have I had to stop working with Ryobi tool for something more powerful/capable. I've found Ryobi battery powered tools like to have a larger battery. I haven't tried anything bigger than the 6ah that's recently been released, but with the 6ah's, these tools have a whole new personality. Since I already have a couple Ryobi chargers, it made sense to invest in 6ah's, a huge step up from the 3ah's I picked up a year and a half ago. The change from the 1.5ah oe batteries that my kit came with, did well when new, the 3ah's gave them nearly twice the tool they each were, the 6ah's more so, and they last longer than I do at this point. I'm an amateur at this point, should ever go pro, I depend very much on channels like yours to test all these different tool brands to give us the low down on who's best bang for the buck. You guys are the best.!😎

You also quite honestly mention in each video that you are not "professional testers" but I think pro testers could take a leaf out of your book as you do a really comprehensive job and also allow potential buyers to make their own minds up based on user case and whats important for them. Thanks for all the effort, it's really appreciated 🙏👊👍

I own and use several of these saws. Chief among them are my Festool Carvex (PSB420C) with the barrel handle and the Dewalt Cordless. I typically use my Dewalt during rough framing but use the Carvex for cabinetry installations, thicker stock, countertops, and when the cut truly matters. I prefer the Festool for the accessories available, extended capabilities, battery life, and dust collection. While expensive, for my use, it's definitely worth the money.

I have an M18 fuel barrel grip. It’s very solid and it has a soft start feature. I'm pretty much too far down the road of Makita cordless to change now...so was happy to see the Makita do so well. It took me forever to get one because the price was so dang prohibitive, made me hang onto my corded saw for a lot longer than I should have and almost got me to consider a second battery line if there were other tools I wanted for low use and wouldn't mind a different brand.

@kenshirogenjuro873
@kenshirogenjuro873 3 жыл бұрын
Makita has slid a revision under the rug that allows you to disable soft start. You can test and see if yours can by turning the power setting either full-up or full-down, then “unlock” the tool, rotate power dial to other end and then back. If the LEDs blink twice, you’ve disabled the soft start. Give it a shot if you bought yours recently there’s a decent chance you have the feature. It will stay that way until you choose to enable it again, which is just repeating the same procedure.

I don't know where you guys purchased these because on the Home Depot website the Ryobi is $69 the Milwaukee is $199 the DeWalt is $229 the Ridgid is $179 the Makita is $189 the Hilti s $309 the Black and Decker is $56. And the ones sold at Lowe's there are 2 Craftsmans one is $99 and one is $89 there are 2 Bosch's one is $159 and the other $149 the Metabo HTP is $99 there are 2 Skils and both come with batteries and one is $139 and the other is $89 the Metabo is $99 the Kobalt is the price you have listed at $129. However I could not find the Festool, Hilti or Porter-Cable on the Home Depot or Lowe's website, so I couldn't check their prices at the two big name stores. Did you buy the ones that you have listed at higher prices in a kit with batteries or did you buy them somewhere else? Because I find it hard to believe that the prices have come down so far in only a year. As a matter of a fact I bought my Milwaukee M18 jigsaw 3 years ago for $199 which is the same price it still is, at least at Home Depot anyways. If you are buying these jigsaws somewhere else I'm surprised that some of the are slightly cheaper while some of the cost much more. If you could tell me where you purchased these I would appreciate it, maybe I can find some of the tools I want there cheaper than at Home Depot since that's where I buy all my tools since I have a lot of Ridgid tools and I have even more Milwaukee tools since I was in a Home Depot testing program and they sent me out 4 tools and 5 batteries for free and since I had 6 batteries for free and since they send me nearly $1k in batteries I started buying Milwaukee tools since having to purchase batteries is one of the biggest expenses when your getting it to a new tool brand line.

DeWalt is kit price.... B on the end would be bare tool. P1 on the end means 1x 5ah battery and charger included. For more info dewalt has common kit names which indicate which battery or batteries included The last number is how many batteries included aka D2 is 2 batteries, P1 is 1 battery. The size of battery is determined by the last letter C=1.2/1.5ah non fuel gauge D=2ah L=slim 3ah also original double stack 3ah M=4ah P=5ah R=6ah 20v T=6ah flexvolt (2ah@60v) U=10ah 20v W=8ah 20v X=9ah flexvolt=(3ah@60v Not sure on slim 4ah or 12ah flexvolt (4ah@60v) as I'm not sure it's sold in any kits currently

It is almost impossible to determine the best. The work style of the carpenter has a lot to do with it. Some people don't have the understanding of what makes the tool work at it's best. A heavier jig saw usually works best because it cuts down on vibration which increases accuracy.

For what I use them for my corded ryobi jigsaw with Diablo blades does the job amazingly and it’s super powerful with the dial options it has. But I can definitely see getting a more high quality one for really detail oriented work. I have slight detail work but I’m mostly rough cutting with mine and then using a flush trim router bit to clean up.

Really great comparison! After 20yrs of using my 110v Bosch 1587vsk, I am very happy with my Makita 18v LXT for about 200 street price its not super cheap but its a beast and works very well.

The only thing i use my jigsaw for is cutting rail post slot on deck perimeter. I don't need much precision and the low vibration is most important for me. I am happy with my Makita.

Fantastic review! You’ve earned a new subscriber here. I did notice that Craftsman has updated their model to the 650 brushless, so I wonder if it shows any improvement. I will peruse yo8r channel, but I’d love to see how the batteries held up on these (another important factor for any cordless tool). Last, I was surprised Bosch and Kobalt weren’t on the list as they are substantial brands.

I think these are amazing. I would love to see a chart where price/value are considered though since most of the time this is the largest part of my decision in the end. I don't own any festool simply because I can't afford it and I already know they're top notch. I buy lots of Ryobi because of the value despite having lower rankings and if it's not good enough or I need something better for that tool I'll dig into a more premium brand but again within a reasonable price. Anyways thanks for these it's the best on KZbin (by far) hope to see a value chart along side going forward!

Great video I carry Milwaukee, Makita and Metabo hpt, so it was nice to see it compared all together but I did want to notr that you have the lower end 18 volts Metabo hbt jigsaw and not their higher end 36 volt model while the 18 volt model can accept the 36 volts battery I see this more of a lower end model compared to the other it would be nice to see that one as well in this video as this newer version appears to be marketed to their subcompact kits that will be released later on this year

I like that you're only metric isn't power and time and amount able to cut.... and I especially like the fact that you explained that although a tool had issues or did not finish it isn't realistic to how the tool is going to be used.... too many channels just focus on Power ...and support the big-name finisher because typically that's all people that buy those tools want to see and hear ...so they only cater to their audience....

Of the Makita 18V Jig saws should I just pick up the old style brushed motor model with trigger speed control for non annoying user friendly control??? One hand ✋🏻 action ease of use, heavier maybe but you don't need to push 2 buttons when say on a ladder to get started? On what planet 🌍🌎🌏 is that disruptive technology better? With an all or nothing digital trigger with no pressure speed control if I've judged the tool right. (minimum viable product trigger?) Speed control is crucial at the finger tip for cavity work & precision.
