If you've been struggling with lower back pain and you're not sure how to build core strength safely with an L4-L5 or L5-S1 disc herniation or bulge, the worst thing you could do is try a bunch of different exercises all at one time.
The best advice I received early on in my back pain relief journey was to keep things super simple-ALL THE TIME.
This means instead of doing 4 different core exercises; we need to start with just ONE and see how our body responds before making any changes.

I commended a video you did years ago about lat pull down that is where i started then i have 3 budging disc and one herniated my lumber spine was a mess i could not walk one month and then I stated my journey with walking stability and mobility. Then I started with maschines and i looked many videos you did and learned exercises that did not cause me pain and when i was confident enough i stated with bodyweight pull ups and dips and those two exercises gave me an amazing body. You helped me and i dont ecen know you i am frim the other side of the planet and i wanted to thabk you hope you see my messages.

Really appreciate this vid. Subscribed to you last week. Been through years of lower back pain due to disc herniation L5/S1. Many unsuccessful paths I’ve taken which stretches etc. love how you show confidence in building core strength to get out of the pain hole many of us are in. Thank you

thanks for this..i do in fact have the same issues you have faced..herniated discs and bukdge and degeberative arthritis..ive also just had a baby so abdominal muscles her a mess from emergency csection

Had a disc rupture L4/L5 a few years ago, discectomy that failed a year and 1/2 later. Had a Fusion that took away the sciatic pain, so I could walk and sleep again, but zero relief from the back pain when doing anything other than walking. Had a Revision for the fusion at L4/L5 in April of 2023. Big difference from before surgery and after. I still believe the back and some leg issues or pain I am still dealing with are related to L5/S1 disc that was never addressed, but going to try to ease into this movement and see what happens. Thanks!

@@Fitness4BackPain Did some yesterday felt pretty good. I realize how much flexibility I lost going side to side but feel pretty good today and cause no back pain. I will keep working these in. Thanks

Swimming is the best core exercise for me I have L4-L5, L5-S1 problems

Its been more than month i am suffering with lower back pain, got my ct scan done , they said L3 L4 retrolisthesis , spine bulge , been doing exercises twice daily that my physiotherapist told me but its not getting better . Pain goes to my lower back to my hips and pelvic area through my testicals.

Really appreciate your efforts. I've only one question to clear my doubt. Do you conduct any scientific or practical study before suggesting any exercise or not? And are these all exercises well researched by physiotherapists or not? Request to clear my doubt.

And honestly most qualified physios know very little about back pain and how to deal with it. I wouldn't trust anything more just because it's been researched by physios. I've seen three and all of them made me worse via ill-advised stretches. @@Fitness4BackPain
