Hi Malcolm Nicoll, Yes, this is just our estimated cost of living here. You will have to come put your feet on the ground here and see what your cost of living estimate will be. All of us live different lives so what we would spend may have no relationship at all to what you will spend per month. Also, make sure you add anything you need in your estimate that is not specifically mentioned in our estimated expenses. And make sure to have significant emergency money set aside in case something happens. Here are some reports on these topics: vagabondbuddha.com/how-to-retire-overseas/ vagabondbuddha.com/two-biggest-risks-of-retiring-early-overseas/ vagabondbuddha.com/how-to-not-fail-at-retiring-early-internationally/ Thanks for watching ad commenting! Each to their own. Not a single mention of Ecuador and one of the most popular Expat destinations in South America, Cuenca, which is also an Internationally acclaimed Colonial City. Very affordable! Also not mentioned is the most prosperous country in Latin America, Chile. Santiago may be right up there with Buenos Aires and Rio for being most cosmopolitan. I can understand why no mention of Brazil. Columbia and especially Argentina are not safe places to live, but they are affordable. Lots of petty crime! Places in Medellin centro might be good, plus Medellin has the best hospitals in Latin America. Good that you're talking up the wonderful people of Latin America who work to live, whereas in the U.S. you live to work. It's nice to live where people know how to live life. I am uruguayan and live in Usa. $1000 is not enough to have a confortable life in Montevideo. I would say you need at least $1500 more like $2000
@VagabondAwake3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your numbers Grial. I think Gil spends more there himself. But some people are able to live there on less. Here are my thoughts about how to do that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJfaYqKvpNWArtk

@@VagabondAwake it’s possible far away from the beaches and not that nice neighborhood. Otherwise rent is about $30.000 pesos for an small 1 bedroom Apartments. In Uruguay you also need 6 months deposit in advanced to rent. Food price is same as USA. Electronics, accessories, shoes clothing double the price compared to USA. Owning a car very expensive (plates, taxes, insurance) and price of gas is 4x more than USA. Can you live with $1000 a month? yes, but you are not going to be able to afford a lot of things, just the basics. I have an old friend, we went to college together she was working for the government and making 2k a month and left the country on 2020 because money wasn't enough, she and her daughters had a simple life, no car no expensive housing.

isn't the heat in Panama a negative?
@VagabondAwake2 жыл бұрын
It is a big country. There are cool mountain areas like Boquete and El Valle and warm places at sea level. Here is our Panama Country video playlist: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXKqiomBZ6utf7c

Argentina can be today cheap tomorrow very expensive. Also you will have issues TT money, security, etc. It should be a reason why wealthy Argentinias are getting away from his own country to Uruguay, even if it is very expensive in comparison with Argentina.

That is my sense of it also but I have not spent enough time there to fully develop my opinion. So we will head back there in January of 2022 before going back to SE Asia. That way I can compare it to other countries when people ask about Belize.
