In my opinion ( yeah, I know opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one ), but I think most hard core rap "Purists" will not like this.......but Kasey's heart-felt, real emotion.......told from a female perspective........makes this performance stand alone.....besides, artists cover songs (1) to give props to the original and (2) to express their interpretation of what they felt from the original .........The Fairy Voice Mother said "She strums that banjo like it owes her money !" .............

Kasey is a huge Eminem fan, she took the opportunity during the lockdown for Covid to rework Eminem's rap song into her own song; such is the difference between the original and her version, that Kasey was given permission to upload this performance to Spotify in it's own right. That's how good this cover is! I'd like to recommend you react to some of Kasey's own songs. Since Kasey went solo in 1998, she has released 12 studio albums. Kasey has been nominated 33 times for ARIA(Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards, has won it 14 times; she has also won the following awards: 10 APRA, 24 CMAA and 2 MO Entertainment. Kasey as had numerous single and album awards in respective charts. I would like to recommend you react to Not Pretty Enough(2001) and Ain't No Little Girl(2017).

Thanks for doing this one! This gives me chills every single time I hear it. Kasey going from that resigned, laid back approach early in the song to the fighting emotion later is beyond powerful! 💪🏼 Kasey is very under appreciated and needs to be recognised more on an international scale! Kasey is a master of storytelling, conveying lyrics and emotion! She is an icon in the Australian music industry, mostly for country and folk, but has her own style and is never afraid to delve into something outside the box. She is just getting better as she gets older. I really hope that Eminem has seen this and appreciates that his song and lyrics were re-imagined in such a spectacular way. I guess he has, as he did give her permission to upload to Spotify etc. Would really like to hear what he thought about it though. Where else would you see head-banging with a banjo, steel guitar and rock band together? Kasey started her solo commercial career around the same time as Eminem and she was a big fan of his music. From what I understand, Kasey spent lockdown playing around with some of her favourite songs and this version of Lose Yourself is the result. Brilliant! Kasey has spent her whole solo career bucking the constraints of the record companies and always gone her way. She made it to the top in Aussie music anyway with many awards, becoming the youngest ever ARIA Hall of Fame recipient. BTW….how was that for breath and vocal control? Not to mention the awesome arrangement. ❤ Also, that was Kasey’s Dad, Bill, on the steel guitar and her brother Nash on lead guitar and backing vocal. Full kudos to Eminem for his songwriting. Personally, the reason Kasey’s version affects me so much is all down to the fact that she did lose herself in the music, the moment during this performance. Kasey kept the cadence but slowed it down, even in the full rock part. She is a true blue Aussie who will leave her soul bared on stage every single time. ❤ The video was a montage from the audiences phone vids… deliberately done to make it a more intimate experience.
