This video came at just the right time! I've been debating between the Capital One Savor One and the Chase Sapphire Preferred! Still not sure which one I want to go with... But I think I really do need a travel card! I'm also about to pay for the next installment of my wedding venue so definitely looking for cards with great bonus offers to take advantage of the large payment!

The chase Sapphire preferred would have been a good option to apply for a couple weeks ago because it had an elevated offer 75k points. Now it’s only 60k points. Capital one venture is similar to the csp with an offer of 75k points and you can transfer savor one cash back to the venture. If your next payments is in the thousands I’d do the csp or venture

I'm always curious about the actual math of what credit card is "worth it"- like how many literal dollars is one spending per year, to earn how many x amount of points, how many years did one have to save up the points, and how many points does one need to stay in nice hotels or fly nice flights? Since I am so new to travel cards, I'd love to hear some sort of point of reference- some example like, "oh, it will take a person 5 years of spending $20,000/year to have enough points to have just one nice flight from Singapore to New York,". Cuz sometimes it really be seeming like you can travel for free with points!, when in reality, maybe one had to spend a butt ton of money first lol.

Unfortunately, influencers will try to sell you on how much travel points are worth, because their primary source of revenue is credit card referrals. The reality is that it takes a long time for normal users to build up enough points for a travel redemption that they actually would want to make, and the dollar value is questionable at best. The best thing about cash-back is that you can redeem early and often, and the value is easy to quantify. You can save up using a smart investment strategy and do whatever you want with it whenever you want.

I used my cash back to fund my emergency savings. My dividends and savings interest also funds my emergency funds.

I want to add a cc but also want to buy a car. Should I hold off on the card?
@YoFabulous113 ай бұрын
IMO, it depends on how soon you want to buy a car. If it’s near term, you don’t want your credit score to take the hit from a hard-pull just before you apply for a car loan. If you’re not gonna be in the market for a few months, I would think your score will have recovered and possibly improved (debt to income should look better if you don’t max the card out), making your loan rate more attractive.
