You do know that pretty much every country in the world sings its own national anthem at sporting events, right? It's only in the US where a singer sings, and the fans usually keep quiet. Everywhere else, the fans always sing, and quite often no singer is even needed/wanted.

It wasn't a dig at American's at all, it was merely a true statement that to anyone outside of the US, there was nothing special about a stadium of fans singing the national anthem. Just because an attack on the city had happened prior doesn't mean this is any more special whatsoever. Do you really need to wait for a bomb to go off before gaining some national pride...?. And I am in my own country. As I was when I wrote that comment...(?) If you hop onto KZbin, it doesn't count as crossing the US border you know.

Different cultures do many things different, you can't say which way is better, they are done why they are for various reasons. The reason the Boston Bruins video is soo emotional is because it might be one of the handful of times ever, their hockey crowd sang the national anthem. When others sing their anthems every time, it doesn't make it as special.

Maybe it's the gathering of so many people with ear piercing accents, maybe it's the annoying happy passion I see as opposed to the aggressive passion I'm surrounded by at sporting events, or maybe it's the fact that Americans just really haven't grasped the art of "chanting", which gets on my nerves. in the nhl they always sing the canadian and american anthems prior to the game but you should see the videos of when the mic cuts out and the crowds start singing the OTHER country's anthem, that takes it to a whole new level for me personally. ive even been at a leafs game in toronto and after the singer was done the canadian anthem the mic cut out just as she was starting the american anthem and without missing a beat every single person in that stadium (all canadians) started singing the american national anthem, word for word. it happens quite often actually and it never gets old lol. ive seen american crowds do the same thing and sing the canadian anthem on their own soil. its very touching to see another country singing your national anthem out of respect. makes me proud to be a canadian/north american.

that was the best domination of a crowd, by far. but i think that would have to be #2 though. im not a metallica fan but when they played in front of a crowd of over half a MILLION people losing their minds (most credible sources are actually claiming it was 1.5-1.6 million, by far the biggest concert in history), it clearly takes the cake. ive never seen anything close to an audience that large at a concert, and they were all going batshit crazy. the largest stadiums in the world could only hold not even 10% of the size of that crowd. id rather go to the live aid show anyday cause i fucking love freddy, but if we are talking the best crowd reactions ever, i gotta check my bias at the door and hand it to metallica on that one.

Fun fact about Sandman and SC- The stadium Noise was so loud, the iPads they were recording on, couldn't take much more. The audio fucked up because of the noise level and how loud it was.
